Slowdive don't do anything new with 5 EP, as they were always apt to fall back into their influences, but as always, their music is quite touching and brittle here.
1. In Mind - 75
2. Good Day Sunshine - 70
3. Missing You - 68
4. Country Rain - 80
This was an EP that was creative but I didn’t fully enjoy. It’s not bad at all though.
Certainly not for everyone, but if you let yourself be engulfed by the hypnotic synthy soundscapes and driving, distant drums, you get something beautiful.
(or maybe I like slowdive too much)
Nah people, you're tripping if consider this weak.
From fav to least fav:
- Missing You
- Good Day Sunshine
- Country Rain
- In Mind
I like the contemplative nature of it, and this EP being more repetitive than usual gives the listener space and time to notice that; Unfortunately, that's where my appreciation for "E EP" begins and ends. While yes, the repetitiveness I mentioned does have that quality, it also makes the song structures kind of dull, ultimately. Also, the more Electronic elements they adopted here are not that well explored and don't serve that big of a purpose.
really good, doesnt break grounds as it is somewhat of an aphex twin impression but it is executed quite nicely.
fav song: in mind
Kind of a weird transition from what we've been hearing. An ambient techno album mixed with aspects of dream pop and it didn't work too well to be honest. Its definitely good but just not even close to the level of stuff they have put out before.
