With themes of sin and forgiveness, regret and acceptance, loss and grown-up love, Revolution is a portrait of an artist in full possession of her powers.
Having come into her own on the extraordinary Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Lambert expands on her fascinating, fully realized artistic persona on Revolution.
The new album is far from perfect. But Revolution does find the young singer refining her skills and trying out some new stuff along the way.
Like a lot of modern contemporary country this fails to charm me. Though there are a couple tracks that didn't have me rolling my eyes or get dismissive over what I am hearing.
Recs:
- White Liar
- Maintain the Pain
- The House that Built Me
Miranda keeps improving her craft on 'Revolution'. This modern classic country album has some of her most interesting songwriting (see "White Liar", "Time To Get A Gun" and "The House That Built Me"). But also, there are some fillers that feel more like a bunch of random interludes. It's aight though. They sound good enough.
