Listening back to those earliest Basic Channel releases can still feel spiritual, a time when Detroit techno met Kingston via Berlin.

The sound design on this thing is pretty damn creative. I wasn't sure about some of these tracks when they started, but the more they went on, the more they started to convince me (even though the opener is by far the biggest highlight here).

The progression of these tracks was both unpredictable and compelling at the same time, and I liked how the grooves kept getting more and more drilled into my mind the more the record went on (especially on the first track).

Phylyps Trak always feel full, even when not much is happening. There's such an awareness that BC has of how to manipulate that negative space and create gaps which the song feels complete with, but when more is added inside of them, it somehow gets even better. Every sound just falls into place perfectly, and this Trak constantly adds puzzle pieces I didn't even know were missing. It's genius :3

'Phylyps Trak' starts with a strange resonant sound with loose rhythmic qualities. It sounds interesting, but it's difficult to distinguish a tempo out of. Then, a stable kick drum is introduced, and the noise shows it's true colours. What were once chaotic noises are now like addictive rhythmic intricacies. okay this is a litttle bit of intermission before i continue listening to EATEOT because i got this recommended to me, and i don't like reviewing my recs late. it's a pretty good dub techno record i had a blast listening to it. and that's really all. thanks for the rec!
