A pretty catchy song. The highlight of this song is of course the hook with that ridiculous falsetto singing, but the rest of the song is also pretty good., as is the instrumental. In a bit of a change of pace from previous number one songs, I actually think this song could benefit from being a bit longer. I'm pretty sure this is the shortest ever US number one song, as it is barely over 1 and and a half minute long. Because of that we only get to hear the hook with the falsetto ... read more

Now this is where it's really at. Definitely the best song to hit number one so far. The instrumental is immaculate, and the same goes for the singing. The lyrics are all reminiscing about Charles' home state of Georgia, although this song is actually a cover.
It's hard to get across how good this song really is just in text honestly, if your reading this just go listen to the song.

Essentially a better version of Brenda's previous number one "I'm sorry". The songs to me feel very similar, but this one is a bit better in almost every aspect. I like the instrumental a bit more, the singing a bit more, and the lyrics a bit more on this song than on "I'm sorry". The song does get a bit boring, but I'm noticing that's a problem with quite a lot of songs from this era.

A completely agreeable song. I like the instrumental and the background vocals, but I find the singing rather unimpressive. The singing isn't bad though, and it doesn't ruin the song or anything. The song also feels like it doesn't really go anywhere, and is kind of boring. The song does have a pretty cool violin (?) solo though.

It's basically what I expected. Honestly I don't have that much to say about this EP, I liked the songs fine enough. Some of them definitely felt a bit repetitive though, but not enough for it to really be a problem. Maybe it the songs would feel a bit less repetitive if you were listening in da club, which I feel is probably what this EP is mainly meant for. My favourite track is probably "Atmosphere". I was left wondering if the noises that come in just before the five ... read more

Another absolutely terrible novelty "song". The whole song is basically making fun of this coward person, who is not the Mr. Custer in question by the way. The song barely has an instrumental, I'm pretty sure it's just drums and and some background singers. There's not really any singing in the song either, just talking from this unnamed coward person in a weird and annoying accent which I guess is maybe supposed to be funny? If that's supposed to be the case ... read more

Uhh, it's fine I guess? This song really isn't that noteworthy to me. The instrumental and the singing are both perfectly fine, and the lyrics are the regular sad love song stuff from the era.

One of the biggest hits of all time, and somehow a number one hit both in the year 1960 and then again in 1962. Listening to the song it's not hard to see where the success came from, it's super catchy, the singing is pretty good, and there's a killer saxophone solo. If we're being honest though the main reason the song got so big is probably the titular dance "The twist", which the songs lyrics are all about.

A return to form for Elvis. I really like the instrumental, and the singing is what you would expect from Elvis, so pretty good. The lyrics are the standard love song stuff, so not worth thinking too hard about. My only complaint is that the song maybe goes on a bit too long, and get's a bit boring.

I quite like the instrumental here, and the song on the whole is pretty catchy. The singing is fine as well. The real problem with the song are the lyrics. As I've said a couple of times I don't care that much about song lyrics, but there's really only so much I can excuse. The lyrics here are just straight up cringe, I wouldn't want to be caught listening to this by my friends.

Another rather unremarkable song. The singing from Brenda is nice, and the instrumental, while simple, is still pretty enjoyable, however it doesn't really feel like anything happens in the song. The song just kind of repeats itself for two and a half minutes. There is a spoken word bit in the middle, but it doesn't really work for me.

Awful. I was thinking of giving this a score of maybe 20 or 10, but now that I've thought about it, I really can't think of any redeeming quality to this song. I guess maybe the instrumental isn't super awful, but it's literally just the same thing over and over again. The "Alley Oop, Oop..." bit from the background singers is extremely annoying, as is the on purpose weird pronunciation from the singer. As for the lyrics, I guess their trying to be funny, but ... read more

Like the previous number one "Cathy's clown" this song is pretty catchy. I once again like both the singing and the instrumental. Still I like this song slightly less than "Cathy's clown". I haven't mentioned lyrics in a while now, but the lyrics for the past few songs have all been generic love song stuff, and this one is not an exception. I guess for this song the synopsis would be that Connie is in love with somebody who doesn't love her back, and ... read more

A big step down from Elvis' previous number one "A big hunk o' love". I think the biggest issue for me is the instrumental, I just don't like it at all, though I have a hard time saying why. The singing by Elvis is also rather unimpressive, honestly Elvis sounds kind of bored. I also don't like the "ha-ha-haa" bit Elvis keeps repeating during the song. On top of all that the song is also just kind of boring.

I feel like this is basically the quintessential "elevator music song", but I'd still say it's pretty good. There's not really much more to comment on in the song except the instrumental, which is really peaceful but still somewhat catchy.

Wow the singing here REALLY ain't it. Honestly the lyrics to this song don't really creep me out like the seem to do for some others, as I've said a couple of times I usually just don't care about lyrics, but the singing ruins this song anyways. On top of that the song is just boring as well. At least the instrumental is fine I guess.

The chanting in the instrumental maybe hasn't aged the best, but overall I find this a decently catchy song

Very good song in my opinion. I really like both the instrumental and the singing. As usual I didn't really pay any attention to the lyrics when listening, but this was probably a mistake, since this song actually has lyrics worth paying attention to. More specifically, the song is about some cowboy falling in love with a Mexican girl and in the end getting killed.
Definitely a song worth listening to. 90/100

It's pleasant, but really boring. The instrumental is perfectly fine, as is the singing. I guess it's cool to hear a woman singing on the second half of the song. The lyrics really aren't worth paying any attention to.
