Very good stuff here. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did honestly, since while I can listen to most genres of music, Noise is definitely one that is not a favorite of mine. This does the genre right though, by immersing you into the atmosphere and using the harshness of the noise to complete it, rather than just being loud for the sake of being loud. There's so very beautiful moments on here. This one surprised me, I liked it a lot.
A generational album. Despite its lengthy runtime, it's ideas and lyrically content always make it engaging. DJ Premier is one of the best producers of all time, and there are tons of great beats on this. Guru monotone and laid back delivery displays how he so effortlessly flows and raps over the beats. There's also just no skips in this tracklist, the title track is one of hip hops all time greatest songs. Overall, an absolute essential for an hip hop fan.
My favorite song of theirs, it perfectly demonstrates what makes this band so fresh and original. The delivery on this is fantastic, I love Cameron Winter's vocal variety.
One of the most enjoyable albums honestly. It's not perfect but damn this is just tons of fun. I love Rocky's delivery on this and some of that production is absolutely legendary. He's that pretty motherfucker.
Not their best by any means but I just like this band a lot, so I still enjoy this a lot. Short and to the point.
Maybe has the worst aged group of features of all time. There's an unfathomable amount of bangers on here though so it's okay.
Outkast are one of my favorite favorite artists of all time, they just have such a charm to them that I live a lot, ATLiens and Aquemini are constantly in my rotation. One thing that I love about the group especially is the chemistry between Big Boi and Andre, but that element is almost completely stripped here. It's essentially just a Big Boi solo album and an Andre solo album, with only a couple dollars between the both of them. That fact is a little disappointing, but this album does ... read more
One of my essential late night songs, the vibe this emulates to me almost can't be described. One of the best produced songs of all time and one of my favorite strictly instrumental songs.
An enjoyable album with a lot of solid songs, but maybe just a bit too much. Okay DEFINITELY a bit too much, there's lots of filler here. I like most the songs themselves well enough, but the actual album listening experience loses me after a bit.
This is such a great time. Mac Miller is undoubtedly in my mind the most consistent white rapper, this shit is great. Tons of fun bars and production on here, with genuine moments of brilliance, such as the not so fun Perfect Circle / Godspeed. And at an hour and 10 minutes, this thing never really misses with a song. Thank you Mac Miller.
A solid little Singer-Songwriter record. It's a nice soft album with two absolute standout tracks. While those songs do blow the others out of the water, this is still an enjoyable front to back experience. But those two songs are genuinely all time greats.
It's by no means perfect but I really really enjoy this album. Despite not being the most polished production wise of the most profound lyrically, it makes up for it by just being a shit ton of fun. There's so many bangers on here, I was just never having a bad time with this album. I could probably rap every word to 3005.
A great, great album with one issue that even people that haven't listened to the album know about. Honestly, I think some songs sounded fine without the bass, but other ones definitely needed it for just a little extra oomph. It could honestly be their best album if it was properly produced. As it is though, it is still a great offering from the band, with great songwriting and thrashy riffs. One is a generationally song.
Gotta give Bobby his props, this a great and very well written album. And it's where he went electric! You gotta love that. Is Subterranean Homesick Blues the first rap song? It could be.
Can be quite hard to digest due to its length, but it is a very good album. I dig Selected Ambient Works 85-92, but something about this album just resonates more with me. The gloomy, emersive atmosphere on this is probably why. At 2 and half hours, the album almost never feels like it is pandering or dragging on at any point, which is very impressive. There are a few tracks on here that are genuinely very beautiful and pretty, some that are downright creepy, and others that just feel almost ... read more
A more low-key Davis album but it still bangs. Very consistent, I like all the songs pretty much about the same. I also really like the album cover, honestly historically speaking I think this is the first really good album cover, as most covers around this time were quite uninteresting.
Just impossible to hate. This has Don't Stop Till' You Get Enough, Rock With You, AND Off The Wall on it. That alone cements this as a classic.
