Shuggie Otis - Inspiration Information
70

Shuggie's got the groove, too bad the funk genre has progressed past this standard, artists like Funkadelic really set an insane bar for funk. Shuggie shows off his instrumental talents and whips up soul food, he's got the energy and the voice without a doubt. Quite a few highlights and I will give tremendous credit where it's due, he shines brightly in his effortless attempts at jamming out. We get all kinds of instrument love throughout this LP. Some tracks do fall short to ... read more

Cochise - WHY ALWAYS ME?
20

A washed attempt at establishing an opium sound. Very annoying adlib usage mixed with lazy writing that doesn't even try to be energetic and full of personality. It's Carti from wish with sub par repetition, nothing too redeeming about this album but it's listenable I guess. The only reason I got through this album was thankfully due to how short the songs were.

Tyler, The Creator - Noid

The topic of paranoia is actually capsulated immensely well! Between the lyrical substance and music video showcase, Tyler speaks on the feeling of being constantly anxious. This theme possibly was inspired from his real life situations of fans sometimes disregarding his personal boundaries and coming off a bit extreme. The song stands nicely on it's own but will most likely come across much more in depth when the album drops. Tyler's more heavy rock style of production helps guide ... read more

Hana Vu may not push boundaries but there's still a sweet distinct energy this album has to offer. Speaking on the aspect of originality and/or a fresh sound, Hana hasn't exactly found her spot yet. However, she shows heart and a willingness to give the music her all. The surface levels of production and lyricism gives her a more meshed outlooked in eyes, but that doesn't mean the album isn't still comforting for what it is. The vocals are absolutely listen worthy in my ... read more

Jeff Rosenstock - WORRY.

Jeff continues to raise the bar with every transition. Love the pop-punk representation he brings.

Blu & Exile - Love (the) Ominous World
80

A more interesting J. Cole with hunger and culture behind the music as well as a calmer version of Benny the Butcher.

Every bit of his musical talent thrives in West Coast influence. I find myself falling in love with the Jazz instrumental bits sprinkled onto the album. Blu seems to have a clear idea of what path in hip hop he wants to take, and as time goes on his plans for perfection will only become much clearer. Currently the highs of this project sit within his captivating sound both in ... read more

Sufjan Stevens - Javelin

This production slaps so hard I might cry with Sufjan.

Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell

To put it simple.. Sufjan sets us on a journey of tears, healing wounds, and sparking hope. I couldn't ask for a better album to release emotions to.

John Lennon & Yoko Ono - Double Fantasy

The magic of shared love is undefeated. Moments of heartfelt devotion and cheerfulness being spread. I think John Lennon did quite the job making a name for himself outside of The Beatles.

Chat Pile - Cool World
80

Another cross, another BANGER album.

Chat Pile has not come to play, when I tell you they serve; THEY SERVE. The single Masc has been in heavy rotation of mine for quite some time now and brought me high expectations of what's to come. The album opens up just as heavy handed as it ends, leaving constant destruction in it's path. Noise Rock has always been a favorite genre of mine due to being so extreme in energy, grabbing the soul of it's listener and aggressively shaking it! ... read more

I feel safe within the walls of this record. The waves of emotion that wash over me really help this album succeed in its efforts. Bill wants to be heard and his words are loud and clear.

"Cuz the writing is unbearably horrendous lmao. How could you possibly take her seriously? She tries so hard to create a serious atmosphere with thought provoking undertones but ends up writing some seriously goofy shit. I can drop multiple lines from almost every song that are super cringe."

"@Bandia If I don't mention a song sometimes it may mean that I don't really feel much for it therefore I don't have anything to really speak on but I can understand where you're coming from. I see the appeal, both picnic in paris and stargazing have great vocal performances I don't mind plus the atmosphere is very soothing. However they just don't stand out too much compared to the higher highs he's had on the album in my opinion but that's personal taste."
