I can’t tell you how refreshing and relieving it is to see the newer generation of rap bring this much ferocity and hunger with so much character, exceedingly grand instrumentals, punchy lines, flawless delivery, and more glaze-worthy points I can't think of currently. John Michel (with the help of Anthony James) releases his debut freshman LP Egotrip.
The title itself gives you just about enough context to understand this album and its intentions. A triumph built from one's ... read more
Anything below a 90 is LUDICROUS!
Believe it or not this is my first experience with Deafheaven and I've come out of this LP with no regrets. The waves of exasperating energy constantly punch you in the face with no time for recovery. Back when I started exploring music, metal took hold of the short end of the stick mainly because of how irritated the vocals would make me feel. The genre truly is on the latter end when it comes to popular enjoyment, however LPWP tends to have this much ... read more
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING.. Anohni's voice has me stun locked. I can't even explain how beautiful her voice is, you can really feel her experiences echo through the soul. We're given an emotionally packed project with exceptional instrumentals to bring it all together. Such a melancholic atmosphere between the ballads and softspoken vocal inflections yet sometimes it also gives this feeling of relief that I can't quite explain. Lots of swaying emotion, I couldn't ask for a ... read more
WHY AM I JUST HEARING THIS?! PLEASE FORGIVE ME!
This is one of the greatest experiences I've had with an album in a WHILE! Tom Verlaine is not only so rhythmic with the guitar but his voice is just MADE for music. This LP features some of the catchiest and I mean CATCHIEST riffs known to man. Nonstop adventure waiting at every corner of this album and I find it to be one of the biggest highlights. Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd are literally Shaq and Kobe of the music world because I am ... read more
Woah, hot take and not even halfway through the year.
I mean I think PinkPantheress has found herself in a solid pocket with the Dance Pop genre. I can see the effort put in but more often than not I'm not exactly interested. I feel that the solidarity comes from how catchy of an artist she is, and while I understand.. I simply don't feel as strongly. The club production is solid but I don't get as much excitement and groove out of this compared to when I heard BRAT. Yea ... read more
Im calling it now, this will be my favorite album of the year. Give this man the must hear early.. I've heard enough.
Gotta be missing some album context, so for now I'll stick with this score. Absolute peak meme music. Much more tolerable watching the video by it's side
Immensely underwhelming.. Title track deserved a better surrounding track list.
Arcade Fire is a band I wish I had gotten into much sooner. My first experience with Neon Bible felt like an eye opening experience to how invigorating and expansive the rock genre gets. Not to dismiss Funeral and The Suburbs that also leave an unforgettable impact. This holy trinity of LPs leave enough of a legacy that keeps the bands name in a dazzling spotlight. Even when the unsuspected downward slope began to ... read more
40 is actually the perfect number to represent this song. Doechii doesn't really add any spice, in fact she holds the track down by a landslide. Not the worst thing ever but disappointing nonetheless, not to mention she's been on a downhill slope since Alligator Bites.
I feel like I should use this moment to express how huge a fan I am of Griselda, and so it saddens me to see Conway part ways but damn did he leave a legacy behind with this masterful piece of work. Being one of Griselda's most prominent members, Conway the Machine really was a boss at the grimy sound right next to Benny. This LP is as ill written as it is consistent with great features, production, and delivery. The entire Griselda crew has an insane range of voices all being standouts in ... read more
Black Thought has always been in my top 5 and this album right here proves why. The roots may have had many members come and go throughout the years but the quality has always been there. Things fall apart is prime Black Thought with some of his most technical writing, layers upon layers of heavy hitting lines. Not a single bad track with so much consistency throughout. The Roots are undoubtedly sealed in my top 10. I find this to be more appealing just by an inch against Undun.
I didn't wanna sit with y'all anyway
Not what I expected or hoped for. Saba is a name I've been quite invested in for quite a while now. Since Care for Me dropped it's been pretty clear that the kid has potential and a solid set up however he lacked interesting quality in his lyrics. It was a solid project but needed more WOW factor to the bars and punchlines. This album has the same issues but 10 fold.. Countless lines of underwhelming bars, and lack of connection between ... read more
Can't form any thoughts other than bored. DDG continues his basic streak of bland youtube beats with ABC123 pen game. Grabbing the likes of Kyle Richh, Rob49, Rich The Kid and MORE to further enforce making this album unappealing. Not a single second of enjoyment, thrill, or any adventure whatsoever. I don't think I'm hard to please, I find enjoyment in the worst things which is why I feel generous even giving this a score of 30. DDG just isn't interesting in any way, shape, ... read more
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YESSSSSS
Key Glock is WHOOPIN ASS on this LP. Arguably his BEST and most CONSISTENT project. His energy alone is putting Memphis in the spotlight. Key Glock needs no lyricism or features to give him an upper hand. I respect this mans skillset, I'm convinced he can say ANYTHING and make it sound hard.
The flow is always something to look forward to and even more notable is the mans beat selection. Sample choices are solid every time, the punch in the drums ... read more
So many emotions tied to this song for me personally. It's one of the best pop tracks ever imo.
Middle school me would've went crazy over this low score. Glad he's evolved.
Insanely stripped back instrumentals, wildly basic writing, and the emotion isn't as moving as one would expect. Boy in the bubble is NOT a good track I'm sorry. I was able to tolerate Let me down slowly but still not enough to keep me invested. Alec is pretty corny in quite a few aspects and although you can tell he has a lot of personal stories to get off his chest, the writing does NOT do him ... read more
