APPLE MUSIC 100 BEST ALBUMS - 58
and we've done it guys. my first 100 rating. this is one of few albums that has been consistently played from the time i came into this world until now, it's like a comfort blanket, it's a member of the family, it has it's own seat at the dinner table. i couldn't ask for anything more from this album. i'm actually tearing up at how much these songs make me feel. i've got nothing of value to add

sometimes i close my eyes and imagine a world where the arctic monkeys only ever released two albums and i smile. i mean this isn't a bad album, but i have no idea why it's on this list. it's definitely carried by it's singles and it's just so inconsistent. there are hints of great songwriting you were used to and then others just fall so short. WPSIATWIN and favourite worst nightmare are just so good that this pales in comparison, too ... read more

okay yes this album is off the charts and i agree completely that its been super influential, but do i want to listen to it all the time? absolutely no. but in turn does that mean i can warrant rating it low? no, it's still up there as a must listen. sunday morning may be one of the greatest songs of all time. lyrically, this is amazing. and sonically all the songs are interesting, but god, the sound engineering on half of these songs is sooooo bad, even ... read more

this album makes me feel weightless. it's like sade just put a hot apple pie to cool on the windowsill and i am the cartoon person floating towards it via it's scent.
APPLE MUSIC 100 BEST ALBUMS - 62
probably one of the most consistent double albums in history? was every track perfect? no, but considering how long this album is, it's insane that it didnt feel bloated at all. i've never sat down with a 2pac album from start to finish but this was so so good. the highs were so high and the lows were still hitting pretty hard. energy remained throughout, beats hit and all the features worked, great production ties it all together. just can't ... read more
i used to really connect with alex's music, and he would have definitely been among conversations about my favourite artists pre-2022, but even after he was cleared, i just never revisited any of his music. today i saw that he had released a new project and thought i would give it a listen, while this isn't my favourite album of his, i was hit with such a wave of nostalgia and was reminded why i had enjoyed his music so much in the past. he has a way of creating such an atmospheric ... read more

when i first saw that this had made the list and ELL had not i was a bit confused. but now i am not. i don't remember this album going nearly as hard as it does, and thats saying something since i remembered it blowing my mind anyway. literally what is there to say about jimi hendrix that hasnt already been repeated over and over again for the last 60 years. the greatest and most influential guitarist by nearly unanimous vote, and he cemented all that in a ... read more

erykah badu may be one of the greatest vocalists of all time, jazzy, funky, soulful. i actually can't get enough. this album is such a lovely blend of the r&b that was popular at the time along with heavier notes of the soulful jazz that influenced it all. definitely some stand out tracks, but as a whole this thing was amazing from start to finish, nothing overpowering, perfectly balanced. get me a martini and bring back smoking in bars.
APPLE MUSIC 100 BEST ALBUMS - 65
first time i've really battled with a rating here - looking at the full length tracks on this album, this thing is CRAZY, just so so groovy, i had so much fun, every single beat is produced perfectly, the samples are amazing, super entertaining, the fact that this came out in 1989 is insane. but on the flip side this album is draaaagged down by it's interludes/skits - there is so many and the vast majority of them don't really add anything at ... read more

grew up in a morrissey hating household but my god the second cemetery gates comes on i literally start skipping around in glee. this thing just has my head bopping, i have very little to say about it as it feels blasphemous, sorry to my poor mother but this album is a bit legendary. how is possible for a completely melodramatic depressing album to feel like summer, need to wear sunglasses and spf30 while listening to this.
APPLE MUSIC 100 BEST ALBUMS - 67
okay i'll be honest this one didn't blow me away in the way i kinda expected it to, it was still great, so ahead of it's time and for sure a must-listen. beth gibbons provides fantastic vocals, lyrically a lot of it was quite interesting, and the production, while unique and experimental for the time, is executed perfectly. but i found myself feeling strongly about a few songs and the others kind of just flew past me, i will be revisiting this ... read more

an album that literally transports me, i'm in high school, it's summer, driving to the beach, lying in the sun, i've had too much to drink, i've got heat stroke, life is easy. i definitely used to love this album a lot more than i did upon a relisten a decade later, but this is still so good, an incredible debut, catchy songs, and could honestly be released tomorrow and would still be just as successful, close to 25 years on and it's ... read more

grew up with my mum listening to so much metal that in my 20's i have rarely revisited it, but wow, this is THE album. super cohesive, kept my attention, the instrumentation is heavy and gritty but somehow it comes across so smoothly thanks to the amazing production. kirk hammett you're a god !!!!
what a coincidence that all the songs jack antonoff produced are having a mid-off, in other news, julian bunetta i love you
really liked this one, lyrically it felt quite purposeful, instrumentally it was a bit safe but still enjoyable - just a chill album with some really nice moments, a break up album that still feels quite thoughtful and light - a good sitting in the park in the sunshine eating a variety of summer fruits album
this is actually crazy, on paper this structure should not work, but somehow gets better everytime i listen, like give me 2 days and this will be 100, i’m in awe
is she playing it safe? absolutely. did i have fun? definitely. did max martin drink the miracle perfect pop producer potion? almost certainly.
APPLE MUSIC 100 BEST ALBUMS - 70
this album has the most insane aura, like it's too cool, just a classic classic hip hop album. the beats, the production, the flows, the samples, no denying it raised the next generation of artists. first two thirds of this thing is off the charts, last 5 tracks do let it down a bit, some dated lyrics but honestly nowhere near as many as i convinced myself there was. definitely found myself favouring the eazy tracks, man that guy knew how to rap, stop the ... read more
