I've had pittsburgh on my playlist forever, I finally decided to give the entire album a listen.
If 2010s metalcore/post hardcore is your thing, this album is skipless then.
Highlights for me:
Pittsburgh, Don't Lean on me, FML
every song is a banger
parasite eve is the best song on the album
GDLK
This shit in HILARIOUS, the lyrics and performance is so bad its funny. There's one song where it sounds like it was literally recorded on a potato phone from prison.
some of the beats are okay
bad album
Backstreet Boys was the first band I ever really got into when I was a kid. Which honestly is kinda weird since my mom listens to rap/rock and my grandmother listened to classic country. Regardless somehow I landed here. Looking back on their discography I find myself repeatedly returning to this album in particular; this album in my humble opinion is super tight, every song is a piece of good, classic, love stricken pop. Their vocal harmonies have only gotten better over time - I think with ... read more
DAY 4 OF A NICKELBACK MARATHON:
I think with this album Nickelback has moved past the "nirvana" sound and more into their own sound. That being said - this sound is still pretty bad. Outside of the first 3 songs this album the rest sounded uninspired, boring, generic, and even cheesy with their lyrics.
You would think after 3 albums that they'd be able to make a half decent song. No.
No they can't.
Fuck man there has to be a good nickelback album somewhere
):
I didn't hate this EP, but it felt pretty generic and uncreative. Nothing *really* stood out to me - not lyrically, instrumentally, or vocally. If you're a huge fan of emo pop you might like this but otherwise i'd probably give this a pass.
DAY 3 OF NICKELBACK REVIEWS (GOD SAVE ME):
Outside of How you remind me which is admittedly a pretty catchy tune, i don't remember a single track off this album. NO WAIT, there was "too bad" which was okay.
Its TOO BAD i've got to listen to the rest of these albums for my full discography review. This album was just so boring, like oh my G O D. Nickelback has improved lyrically and quality wise in production and instrumentation. I can actually hear chad's lyrics most of the time now ... read more
NICKELBACK RUN: DAY 2
While I think the band at this point has improved on a production and technical side of things, this album is more or less a continuation of their first album - curb.
Curb was shit. UTTER GARBAGE
but i literally laughed at how bad it was.
This album was just bad, it wasn't fun. I didn't laugh, I didn't enjoy myself. There were points where I forgot the music was playing, sometimes I didn't even hear chad singing, and there was a point where this overly distorted guitar ... read more
NICKELBACK RUN: DAY 1
What the fuck is even going on, I had to pull up the lyrics just to figure out what the song was saying, but after ONE glance over any of these tracks you quickly realize that everysong is literally about nothing. They literally just picked random words outt of a hat and said "yes, this is our next hit fellas."
God this sucks
They even literally ripped off Nirvana's "lithium" with their song "fly" which is the only song that lyrically makes ... read more
I feel kind of awkward giving this such a high rating when practically everyone hates this album. I've listened to it multiple times to reaffirm my feelings - I really enjoy the sound they went for here. Combing electronic and hard rock pretty well imo. The songwriting is really good (assuming you like Jacoby's songwriting in general). I found each song to be distinct enough that while I was doing other activities i could tell when each song ended and a new one started - instead of being a ... read more
Honestly this was really hard for me to rate. I listened to this album a couple times and I feel like I genuinely enjoyed it. I think Take My Hand, The End, and What If are the shining stars on this album... but I have to admit that the rest of the songs kind of passed by without me even realizing the song had switched. I don't think any of the songs on this album are outright bad, but I do think they're generic. *for now* I think I was to rate think a soft 60, and i may come back to this album ... read more
I respect what MCR has done for the genre of emo/Pop Punk, and especially how many bands have been influenced by this specific album. It has a rich and long lasting legacy that will continue to inspire bands for decades to come; that being said however - once I finally listened to this prolific album from front to back I came out with mixed feelings. There are some really hot bangers like House of Wolves, Famous Last Words, Teenagers, and Welcome to the Black Parade. I think each of these songs ... read more
I'm a huge fan of sum 41 - I've listened to almost all of their discography. Honestly the tone of Order In Decline is unlike any of their other albums, each song goes in so fucking hard and it really makes your sit back and go holy shit is this ACTUALLY sum 41.
Starset is one of my favorite bands of all time - and I was really hyped for Divisions. So I kinda feel let down now that I've listened to the album a couple times and really taken in what's its trying to present.
Let me say firstly the lyricism and story telling is AMAZING. I think every song is pretty well written and they all combine into an amazing piece of literary work.
But sonically.. the instrumentation was a let down - big time. no song really stood out other than Diving Bell.
Former Escape The Fate guitarist Monte Money started his own band Beyond unbroken - trying to establish his own sound and I think he nails it. If you're a fan of metalcore/Post-Hardcore there's nothing about this EP you won't like. The vocals are clean, the screams are great. Out of the 6 songs on this EP I really felt only one fell short, and thats the last song "Don't Wake The Dead"; even with that shortcoming all the other songs are absolute hits in my eyes. "Overdose" ... read more
Instrumentals: Bangin
Lyrics: Meaningful
Flow: Excellent
There isn't any real reason to dislike this song. Unless the lyrics really just go over your head smh.
To my knowledge this is the only album Single File ever released. Listening through this album I find it to be a mixed bag - none of the songs were particularly bad or anything, but a good chunk were "painfully average"; only hosting a few songs that I think are absolute bangers such as Melody of You and Miss Cherry Lipgloss. If you're a fan of that poppy emo sound or pop punk you'll definitely enjoy atleast a couple of songs this short lived band has to offer.
