Well I don’t know what happened to Mac between his first album and this (well I actually do), but something changed. All the sudden he’s now an incredible songwriter and producer. The production on this album is PHENOMENAL. His flows are better his chorus are better. This album is experimental but he does basically everything right. He went from an average frat-party-rapper to practically a musical genius in only a few years. This album is amazing. And, OBJECTS IN THE MIRROR IS A ... read more
Mac Miller’s artistic shift, almost none of the songs are party songs. The first time Mac Miller didn’t make an album as a “frat-rapper”. He explores more themes like addiction, love, and mortality. This album is the has his best written songs so far in his career such as “Thoughts from a Balcony”. He turns it up x10 on his next album…
Mac Miller’s first studio album is BY FAR Mac’s worst album, and doesn’t even compare to his other albums, still not bad and Missed Calls is one of his most underrated songs.
The jump he made between this and BDE is crazy, the production is so much better, the songwriting made an incredible leap.
So this album did not age anywhere nearly as well as KIDS did, I bet this banged back in the day. The production for the most part is all over the place, but there are a few songs with an amazing beats. It’s like KIDS, but with worse beats, and less charisma (aside from a few songs).
Love the production, so iconic and so charismatic
I love the idea of this album, an early 2010’s southern-cloud-rap mixtape. It sounds dusty yet smooth. Idk it just has like a live love asap type of feel to
Amazing production, great rapping. And it has my favorite Denzel song, melt session #1. I still prefer Taboo as a overall album
First off, the songwriting on this is incredible. Also the production on this is incredible. Every song is incredible. I could go on and on about how amazing everything about this album is. The symbols, the motifs, the stories are all incredible. There is so much to discover about this album, it feels like a gift from the Gods of music.
TA13OO by Denzel Curry is a concept album where each disc the songs get darker, in theme and in sound. Lyrically this album is amazing, it talks about things that would normal be considered taboo (hence the name). The production of the album is incredible, the beats and overall soundscape sound dystopian like. Not to mention the awesome album cover fits the album perfectly and you can already kind of tell how it will sound based off the cover.
Horrible production for the most part, but I have to give him credit for sounding so hungry. And this is his first project.
