Slowdive - Slowdive
NR

I can't believe it's been a whole 40 years since the last shoegaze album came out... guess you could say it's really back now. I mean... I guess you could say it's really kickin...

Well it's pretty, so I don't think you need to read anything more, the end. This album has done its work. It's better than almost every other shoegaze album released this decade.

...but anyways, since Souvlaki is the album of theirs that gets the most praise, it steered them more towards the sound on that album ... read more

Arctic Monkeys - AM
NR

NME are you kidding me, best album of the last decade? What is this, a joke? Let's be real folks, if we're going to evaluate an album like this seriously, then we need to consider this poppy indie rock album in the light that it truly deserves.

AM by Arctic Monkeys is the greatest album of ALL TIME. This is the unquestionable truth. All the years of rock music, from The Beatles to Boston to The Cure to Nirvana to Linkin Park have all been building up to this release. Every riff, every throat ... read more

Dope Body - Kunk
NR

I think I'll explain my rating here, since I'm assuming most people will like this album. Kunk feels like a more modernized version of Generic Flipper. That may sound interesting (Flipper is very good, after all), but Dope Body's songwriting and consistency are way off in comparison. "Yeah, it's kinda ridiculous how easy it is for indie bands to get higher critic ratings just by borrowing the right sound without having to worry about any songwriting talent. Hopefully a band like this could inspire a better band to take on this sound"

"considering p4k's average hip hop score in 2017 is a high 7, 6.5 ain't too great, but i wouldn't call them trend hopping until they give them BNM. 7.5 is 'average' by their standards that being said, p4k has like no influence in modern hip hop anyways, so they could give these guys a 2.0 or a 9.7 and it wouldnt change much"
On EMR's review of Between the Buried and Me - Colors
"The fact that so many books still name Between the Buried and Me as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" prog metal band ever only tells you how far the genre still is from becoming a serious art. "
