The War on Drugs - A Deeper Understanding
NR

Never was a fan of this band, though their last album at least felt like they were trying to do something with their sound.

The Districts - Popular Manipulations
NR

It's about as good as their last album with a slightly changed up sound. Not much more I could ask for, though I'd love to hear them release another 'Young Blood' epic of a track.

Fall Out Boy - M A N I A
NR

have mercy on my ears, please

update: the good news is that young and menace is the worst track on the album. the bad news? it's basic radio pop songs, which I suppose sound better coming from fall out boy than most other groups but.... man it just sucks. no reason to listen to this one at all unless you wanna hear Fall Out Boy Does Pop vol 3: extra lame edition

LCD Soundsystem - american dream
NR

It's a far weaker version of their older albums (which were all very similar to each other songwriting-wise, to begin with). How Do You Sleep is a great track, and some of the other ones are alright, too. As a whole album? Eh.... it's new material, at least.

Converge - The Dusk in Us
NR

It's like You Fail Me, Axe to Fall, and All We Love combined into one sound, though I wouldn't say the same about their songwriting. It's solid.

Glassjaw - Material Control
NR

Feels like a new EP. Hopefully they release some more music, maybe give Rymer something to do this time! It's got some good songs on it

Fleet Foxes - Crack-Up
NR

you laughed at them.... looks whos' cracking up now

grizzly bear

The Beatles - The Beatles
NR

the beatles are complete and utter trash.... really guys? a white album cover that just says "the beatles"?? where's the creativity... too many songs

Radiohead - In Rainbows
NR

wow, who thought guitars could sound good??? new bands listen up

The Mars Volta - Noctourniquet
NR

Completely in its own world. Not impossibly good, but it's very well put together. I'd be very interested to hear what these guys could make if they came out with something now...

The Mars Volta - Amputechture
NR

Great set of songs. Some of them kinda drag on a bit (tetragrammaton has enough variety to last 16 minutes, though) and i'm not a fan of the spacier parts

R.E.M. - Murmur
NR

Now go hear their other ones

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
NR

cal me a plebberino cuz i like this one the most out of the anco albums and i herd em all.........

TOOL - Lateralus
NR

Tool is cool!

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F♯ A♯ ∞
NR

they dont sleep on the beach anymore....

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - 'Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress'
NR

I dunno guys, i'm not lovin the droning instrumentals taking up such a large amount of the album. They still know how to write good... riffs? what the heck

Tame Impala - Currents
NR

Disappointing as a Tame Impala album, but it sounds so different, it stands as its own thing. Guess I can't be too let down by them trying something new. If this leads to a more interesting take on this sound later, I'm not against it... time will tell

Ought - Sun Coming Down
NR

It's a bunch of old rock ideas thrown together but it works

"Yeah, it's kinda ridiculous how easy it is for indie bands to get higher critic ratings just by borrowing the right sound without having to worry about any songwriting talent. Hopefully a band like this could inspire a better band to take on this sound"

"considering p4k's average hip hop score in 2017 is a high 7, 6.5 ain't too great, but i wouldn't call them trend hopping until they give them BNM. 7.5 is 'average' by their standards that being said, p4k has like no influence in modern hip hop anyways, so they could give these guys a 2.0 or a 9.7 and it wouldnt change much"
On EMR's review of Between the Buried and Me - Colors
"The fact that so many books still name Between the Buried and Me as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" prog metal band ever only tells you how far the genre still is from becoming a serious art. "
