This album was quite the surprise drop, but who would complain, it's new music from Simz! I nearly liked this more than SIMBI, it just ended really poorly. Her ability to use rhymes the way she does is crazy, because on top of flowing flawlessly, she is still able to absolutely kill it when it comes to lyrics. There are times on this where she is the most vulnerable she's ever been, like on Broken, which is an absolute killer of a hip hop song. On the back half of the record, I found myself to ... read more
Well, I've had this album rated as a 10 for quite some time now, never wrote my thoughts on it until now. I don't think there is a single boring moment on this album. As far as dance-punk goes, this is the prime example of what I'm looking for, especially for someone who doesn't crave many subgenres of punk. This album thematically pulls from various disfunctions of the human race, be it conspiracy theories, mass violence, or even addiction. They pull from every deficit and compare it to ... read more
Words cannot describe how insanely cool this record is. I've never listened to anything life this, ever. Maybe it's because I haven't dipped my toes in the right places prior to this. Yet that doesn't take away from the absolute adventure dds brought me on. They have an insane sound palette that fails to be uninteresting. Even so that I wish this thing was LONGER, despite it clocking in at just over an hour in length alone! Even the song-writing, when there is any, ties in thematically which to ... read more
I knew what I was getting into before listening to this, I've heard so much about this thing, mostly negative. At first I was fooled, it started off with 4 tracks that I would consider good, or at least decent in my standards. That's about all I got of positive for this thing. 4 good first tracks. After that, Joji seems to have lost all interest in making something worth while. To me this sounds like a lazy effort to try and capitalize on the massive success critically and number wise that was ... read more
Honestly didn't know what to expect going into this, definitely not what I heard though. I think this project couldn't have had a better name, it literally embraces chaos in a fun and unique way. His ability to blend varying genres, that range from alternative hip hop to pop punk to indie rock, is absolutely insane. This album falls a bit short on the mixing side of things as I feel like there is a lot of overly and unnecessary loud mixes that, sure fit in with chaos, but aren't necessarily ... read more
With Titanic Rising being one of my all time favorites, it's inevitable that I was thrilled to hear Natalie was dropping this year. This thing really is great and really shows off her talent, be it song-writing, vocals or production. There's nothing I would consider bad about this record, more that often it feels very safe. Which leads me to the one thing that stops this record from being any better for me, it feels like the balance between the standouts of the album and the deep cuts really ... read more
ZzzZzz... Okay that might be an exaggeration but this album was not what a psych album is supposed to be. They are supposed to be fun and engaging, but I don't really get that from this. Sure they have a cool sound palette and have an overall good sound, but where's the enticement? They've just got a really solid sound, which I'm not trying to say is a bad thing, in fact, it saves this album from being total boredom. I'm just saying, as far as gizz goes, I don't feel like they put as much of ... read more
Who knew dead people made such good music. This new Quadeca record is honestly so cool, especially as someone who used to listen to him when he was a cringe white rapper. It's just such a distinct sound, blending elements of folktronica and experimental hip-hop, as well as a lot of lo-fi aspects. It's also really impressive that this album is fully self-produced, seeing as how good the production is consistently on this record. Not only is this an amazing step forward in production for Quad, ... read more
I guess it's a bit of shame that this was my introduction to Animal Collective, I haven't checkout out any of their other stuff. I will say, I think I would've enjoyed this album much more if it was instrumental. I have absolutely no issues with the production, it is psychedelic to perfection and feels like it's altering the dimension I'm in. It is a bit deceiving that vocals are so bland and don't do anything to compliment the music, but on the rare instances they do it does pay off, like on ... read more
Okay but have you ever tried having fun? I guarantee you I did here. Every non ballad track on here is a straight BANGER. It's too bad I don't enjoy the ballads as much as I do the more hype tunes. The production on this shit is absolutely stellar though, it's sounds so Bladee and I love it. Overall if you're looking for fun, I'd skip right to the bangers, otherwise, you might find yourself enjoying the ballads more than I do.

It's hard to put in words how this album makes me feel, it brought me to places artificially but also realistically. What I mean by that is that when listening to ambient records of any sorts, I really have to use my imagination. These records have to be journeys created with often minimal sound, though emphasis on often since the sound on this thing is not minimal whatsoever. When I say this place took me places artificially, this was my one and only gripe with the record. Sometimes it really ... read more
Run The Jewels cuz I kill a mike on any El-P. This record is just great. The song writing is clever yet still has the Denzel flare that I love. The production is so cool on this too, really souly and jazzy and its so irresistibly smooth, not a single miss production wise. Where there are misses, however, lies in a lot of vocal passages that either have weird inflexions or unnecessary vocal effects, like in John Wayne or The Smell Of Death. Even if this album may come off as too socially ... read more
Okay okay, I was shown this EP by a co-worker like over 6 months ago and I only decided to check it out now because, well I had the time. I wasn't going into this with my expectations high as I'm not one who craves emo rap, but this was a pleasent surprise. It really shows promise for the genre though, seeing as this is a really cool blend between emo rap and hyperpop, with it's often very in your face production. Lyrically it's maybe not as interesting as it could be, but I don't see that as ... read more
My enjoyment of this record has only gone down since my first listen earlier this year. I feel like this could be so much better if she cut out the interludes and had better production. This record is unbelievably underwhelming, yet it's still catchy and somewhat fun. It's also really cool to see Twigs experiment with so many different sounds, it's just a shame they aren't all performed as good as they could be. I overally don't dislike the record, because it's still good times, I just don't ... read more
I haven't had time to review this because of school, but I've had my fair amount of time with this record. Upon release, I was really anxious this album would be a flop, especially after dropping the single Beach House. I went to see her live in Montreal just a week before the album dropped. Now given the time I've spent with thing, it's not completely a flop, but it does have some duds that hinder the album as a whole. That still doesn't stop me from liking this project though! Carly always ... read more
I'm honestly really surprised I liked this, with such mediocre fan reception, I was expecting this to be a lot worse. It definitely has it's lows but it has really good highs. This album reinforces Taylor's voice in pop but also lets her keep expanding her creativity, especially when it comes to production. Jack Antonoff did a great job on the production here, really giving off a spacey vibe that fits well for most cases on this LP. There's a few songs that don't strike me as interesting, but ... read more
This record started off pretty solid, but just not as remarkable as a lot of Eno's old work, nor does it feel as special. In the latter half I think production wise this thing kicks off, but then there is the weird vocal effect that just takes that and blows it out of the water. There is not much to say about this thing other than the cover art is perfect and that Brian Eno is so impressive, the guy is like in his 70s and is STILL at it (and isn't bad nonetheless).

What a vibe, this production totally kills!! I might need some adjusting to the vocals, which has been a thing for me and not liking drain gang stuff very much. This thing feels really ethereal which I absolutely commend it for, the atmosphere is unreal. On the flipside, as I said the vocals are what stop me from draining, and I feel the same issue here, I'm not sure who is singing but it doesn't matter, I just don't find myself enjoying some of these songs because of it. Overall, this is the ... read more
I was expecting some Taylor Swift self titled type stuff on this, I wouldn't say I was presently surprised, but I was relieved it wasn't. undoubtedly this album has a lot of flaws such as the unhinged writing in some verses, the pretty bland production on some cuts, but most of all the really sour vocal delivery on some tracks like Heavy Lifting. I will say though there was a few tracks that had some really cool influences in their production like some folktronica or jazz influences, especially ... read more
This EP is really strong, especially for a side B of my personal favorite Carly Album, Emotion. She just serves her classic bops here and I have little to no complaints, especially be it like a bonus drop. While I may not have much to say about this, I can give a really big recommendation for this thing, for those who liked Emotion, but just overall fans. Production is really out there and she has some of my favorite choruses on this thing (i.e. Store which I think is a 10/10 song). Give it a ... read more
