I don't even really like metalcore that much anymore, but holy fucking shit this album is INTENSE. A huge improvement from their EP in every way.
Truly, truly, truly a mesmerizing experience from beginning to end. This is what comfort sounds like; it's the artistic embodiment of a warm hug after going through hell. This album is peace. I don't even know what else to say, I'm at awe of how beautiful this is
Despite being morally objectionable lyrically at... a lot of points, it's really hard to not feel every stupidly aggressive rhythm that splooges from the murky soundscape this dude created for this weird ass album
EDIT: Wow! I was wrong. This album fucks, front to back. My favorites are still mostly the same but really all 12 songs are very good. Definitely one of Faith No More's best
While this album does feature some of the best songs Faith No More ever made (Ashes to Ashes, Collision, Got That Feeling, Mouth to Mouth, Naked In Front of the Computer) and there are really no bad songs on here, it feels less like a cohesive album experience and more like a collection of songs. Still, a very good ... read more
There's some cool moments scatter throughout this thing but the songwriting is about as unexciting and unremarkable and just utterly forgettable as anything else they've done in recent years. But at least those songs were mixed somewhat decently, or at least still had SOME energy. This recording just sounds so flat and bland, making the already derivative songs sound even more uninspired. The last two songs are pretty decent though, as well as sections of others (dance section on Born on the ... read more
Catchy, soulful pop songs. I love the amount of emotion she pours into every track she sings and the production is crystal clear, which fits this record perfectly. The album does get a bit redundant and her vocals are admittedly a little much at times, but I still feel that she approaches these tracks with enough raw passion to allow her songs to feel like something a little more special than your average radio pop hit.
Beautiful, soaring vocals help elevate this otherwise pretty standard indie pop song to powerful, emotionally moving heights
A good record that hits very hard at the heaviest sections. If only the material was more memorable, more unique. Still, I can't wait to hear what they do next
Not as great as the first two. Still very very thrilling from the start until the end.
meh. it's alright, not memorable at all. hopefully the remainder of the album is better
A chilling, tense listen from beginning to end. Sumac's followup to their very good Love Is A Shadow album is .. well very good. The songwriting is a little tighter this time around, allowing the sections of noise and repetition to really sink in and feel more justified than before. Like many Sumac tracks, the title track overstays its welcome a bit - that being said the breakdown at the end is one of the heaviest I've heard all year, reminiscent of some of the stuff Swans was doing on Filth. ... read more
One of my favorite records ever released. I saw them play not long after (a few times really) and every single time is always insane, and this album perfectly encapsulates the raw, primal energy they bring to the stage every single time. There's hints of Black Flag, System of a Down, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and plenty of other giants of heavier music sprinkled throughout - all while retaining a unique sound of their own. Can't wait to hear what's next.
Truly exhilarating from beginning to end, the debut album by Copenhagen's EYES packs all the punches necessary to make it stand out from the rest of the metalcore/hardcore crowd in 2020. From the tortured and honestly pretty entertaining lyrical choices ("Stared out an open door / Saw Jesus Christ / He told me to go fuck myself / How will I get to heaven now") to the snarling, blood-gargling vocal deliveries from the vocalist (reminiscent of Jacob Bannon in some places and Max from ... read more
It's heavy and noisy and brutal and ugly. They're a band with a lot of potential to be something great in the world of heavy music. However, they're not quite yet. Still looking forward to whatever they do on the future
It's a good record that can be pretty enjoyable to listen to. But I don't really find it all that memorable, as after listening it all just kind of leaves my brain until the next time. This is disappointing considering how memorable both Converge and The Red Chord tend to be in their records.
I liked Vile Luxury, but this. This is fucking insane. They perfectly blend their already demented experimental black metal sound with some heavy jazz influences on this immensely immersive collection of meticulously crafted art.
brutal, heavy, pissed off Death Metal. Short and to the point, and a very good point it has.
Favorites: honestly all of them. even the instrumentals
Filthy. Absolutely fucking filthy.
Favorites: Entropic Self Immolation, Noctemnania, Sulfuric Sodomy (Disintegration of Christ), Baptized in Boiling Phlegm
