Both sides are phenomenal. This album is a bit overrated but its a fantastic work of ambient music overall.
I can't help but see this album as outclassed. Everything I like about bob dylan, namely his songwriting and lyrics, is done better in his later LPs. It isn't just those two, either. The vocals are notably weaker than those in the later album, as Dylan sounds like he's singing with a lump in his throat. The instrumentation is void of any percussion or electronics, aspects that only benefit Dylan's songs. It isn't as if his songs NEED those two to for me to like them, as I still like BIABH as a ... read more
With a handful of great songs but an equally amount of unimpressive ones, this turned out to be a really nice lp.
Amazing set of live performances. Very pleased to see how good these guys are live.
The songs are undeniably good, but I can't see myself coming back to this thing.
Edit: Upon repeated listens, I was proven wrong. This album is fantastic and has incredible replay value. I love how positive it is, it's genuinely infectious.
Kind of underwhelming when compared to Fagen's solo work, but it undeniably has some solid tracks. I will say that my general dislike for reggae probably prevented me from enjoying this as much as I could, but hey.
It's really nice and smooth. Memory box is a PHENOMENAL song, and tracks like Heera, Remain in Me and Soulles friends are great too. It does undeniably get really dull at parts though.
Definitely not as good as the other Dylan albums but still a treat. I find it really quaint with how relaxed and mellow it is.
Very, very, very very good. There is almost nothing "wrong" with this album, and there is plenty to love. These smooth pop motifs are ones I never expected to love.
Favorites: Moon Dog, Scarlet Night
Least favorite: All Boys Believe Anything
Tracks 2-4 and the last track are phenomenal. Otherwise okay. A pretty damn good EP.
Quaint EP by bry guy the scare bry. It has some serious nuggets of genius here.
Can't even call it a fun time. It just tries to do way too much. It has some good tracks though.
The second half is just so much weaker than the first. Pretty solid overall though.
I feel like this album could heavily benefit from a 10 minute improvisational jazz fusion piece
