While I was slightly underwhelmed by the actual performance the thought and commentary put into the show is absolutely insane. Still kinda wish he played one of his older hits like money trees or Wesley’s theory but I’m not too upset by the song choices. He played his most popular songs which was pretty expected tbh. Far from the best halftime show (that would have to go to prince or Dre and friends) but also far from the worst
It takes a few tracks to get going but holy shit is this album gorgeous. Her vocals on here are absolutely heavenly and easily the strongest aspect of this record. I also love the super stripped back instrumentals. A few songs feel a bit too stripped back for my taste which is my main problem with the first few tracks but once this album finds its footing they really work in the albums favor. Tracks like better, all the way down, waiting, and Cherry Coffee are absolutely incredible and some of ... read more
Pretty decent metal album. Not exactly anything mind blowing but it’s not too bad either. Graveflower is incredible but other than that nothing rly stood out to me. I also think the silence at the end of Dead Girl as well as the bonus poem were completely unnecessary. The bonus poem is just super edgy and vulgar for no reason. So yea a mostly pretty good metal album with some great songs. I’m definitely anticipating their other album way more tho
I’m kinda underwhelmed after hearing Caligula. That album has such a dark, scary, and intense atmosphere it really is just something that leaves you in awe. I don’t really feel like I got that as much here. Maybe I just prefer the sound of Caligula but this was definitely a bit disappointing in comparison. That’s enough about what I’m disappointed by in this record because there is a lot here to love. First of all this is maybe even stronger lyrically than Caligula. The ... read more
I feel like this lives in the shadow of maad city which while I can understand why, that’s one of my favorite songs ever, this really does deserve just as much recognition. Not only is it a meaningful song in the story of the album but the production is gorgeous. Really an underrated gem on GKMC
Didn’t disappoint at all
This band is very quickly becoming my favorite metal band. This is only my second album from them but so far their insane riffs and guitar solos have left me stunned on pretty much every song. Everything about this is just peak metal from the lyrics to the vocals to the absolutely batshit fucking insane instrumentals. This album is absolutely incredible from start to finish but the first three songs especially are genuinely some of the greatest metal I’ve ... read more
It’s in its simplicity that this album succeeds in being possibly the most gorgeous album to come out this year. The production here is absolutely stunning. This is easily some of the most atmospheric folk I’ve ever heard. The instrumentals have absolutely otherworldly moments where they swell and create gorgeous climaxes. I only just discovered this album and band when I saw it dominating the top tracks of the year so I wasn’t familiar with the bands frontman, Ryan Karazija, ... read more
I feel so bad for hating on this bro poured his heart and soul into these lyrics but holy shit this albums so assπ
This is genuinely one of the most breathtaking albums I’ve ever heard holy fuck
I was obviously expecting this to be peak but oh my god this is probably my favorite metal album now (excluding toxicity for now). The guitars on this album are absolutely fucking ridiculous. I genuinely don’t have the words for how insane they are. The vocals mesh with the instrumentals really well too almost acting as another instrument (which is kinda something I’ve been noticing on a lot of ... read more
