I have mixed feelings on John Mayer, on one hand i find his music to be well composed and interesting to listen to, but what brings me down is how generic his personality is. This album shows it perfectly, i don't feel like this is one of his best albums like people label it to be, his essence and lyricism isn't well carved yet and what we got is a pretty generic pop rock album with some funny songs here and there, but overall extremely generic commercial rock ballads around teenage love.
His debut was mostly a spoken-word album involving corny themes, being occasionally funny.
But this follow up is incredibly more enjoyable with way better production better approaches to the themes he chooses, and an amazing delivery most of the time, the cohesion inside this album isn't the best, but tbh this is still pretty nice and enjoyable.
I really think that there's something about this album that makes it unique and special, but then i remember myself of how corny this dude sounds.
But besides the alternative approach to this, what i really find interesting is his wordplay and lyrical abilities, he might be kinda cheesy but i still feel like he manages to be a talented writer and a personal one too.
(The Mario & Link track is somewhere between fucking terrible and hilariously amazing)
This album sounds way more refined and unique than their debut, instead of being a really nice sounding but generic experimental album, this time we see the Young Fathers evolving into a new status, amazing album
This is great, so fun, reminds me of BROCKHAMPTON, one of the most consistent UK Hip Hop albums i've heard
Very experimental and intriguing project, talented lyricist. But still nothing groundbreaking
Logic was always the most overrated lyricist on the game, that was in fact talented but also intolerable because of his personality and corny lyrics that made his music extremely underwhelming for years and years. On 2019 he pulled off 2 of the worst projects of the year, it seemed like his career was over, but No Pressure brings some heat production and decent lyricism to the table that make it probably the best album he released since Under Pressure, it's a pretty decent project, ... read more
A pop star that grew from her influences on country-pop music then evolving into a pop superstar, seems to in this album create her most grown and artistic piece of art ever. Mixing pop and folk, Taylor seems to release her most consistent and amazing album on her entire career.
I was never a huge Bladee appreciator, i never understoodhis music or find it interesting at all. But on this album i appreciate the fact that he seems to be more confident and comfortable than ever with his own sound, which makes this album sound more fluid, but despite that i still find a lot of the stuff here pretty boring and unfinished.
This EP was the first Joey project coming out in awhile, i was curious to see what he been working on, and while he is still one of the most unique, soulful and lyrical rappers of this generation. The Light Pack presents stable and interesting ideas but nothing new from Joey, it's not surprising and its honestly pretty predictable. I feel like his next LP might be pretty cool but this EP does not have a huge replay value tbh.
For such an amazing rapper this comes out as something 'average', ... read more
This EP can by surprise to me since i had no idea that 6LACK was working on music atm, and while not being bad, this EP feels like the most predictable piece if music ive heard from him, it's literally an EP where 6LACK keeps on repeating the gimmicks he been getting us used to with his albums singles and collabs.
It just doesn't feel like he tries to improve at all on this cut, i do like it tho, this feels groovy and soulful even tho it is like superficial as fuck like 6LACK been doing ... read more
For an artist that is taken as a very lyrical pioneer of the R&B industry, 6LACK bproves how bland and one-toned he is on this album, i did like the mood and direction of his debut that at least felt unpredictable and it really felt like it came from heart with sincere song-writing. On the other hand this album is very monotone and boring, his wordplay and song-writing is definitely above average on male R&B, but i still feel like this is truly so fucking average. Very disappointed with ... read more
This album isnt that bad, but the fact it leans more to trap and pop rap makes this prove once again that posthumous albums directed by other artists dont work.
The album isnt that bad, but its just a generic collection of NY hip hop
People who hate on 6LACK just because hes an industry plant are delusional...
So 6LACK is a canadian R&B artist that quickly emerged in late 2016 with his hit single PRBLMS, and since that eh revealed an emotional and heartbroken persona when it comes to song-writing, mixed with eerie and alternative trap influenced production, that matches well his personality and essence.
The biggest issue with &LACK is that upon finishing this album, we can in fact assume that what i said above is ... read more
After his debut project, 6ix9ine had to release a better project to guarantee his spot as a pioneer of the trap game. And with DUMMY BOY we showcase way better production which should make this project already decent, but what feels off on thsi project is the fact that there are so many features and those always seem to influence the direction of the track, its like he's not really present, which is obviously bad for Tekashi, but on the other hand i kinda feel like most of this influences we're ... read more
I always found 6ix9ine to be an interesting artist because of his aggressive and hardcore gangsta trap delivery, and with this mixtape he guarantees his spot on the mainstream scenario with around 5 extremely popular singles not only on NYC but also all around the world.
I appreciate his delivery for most of the time, since this is generally his most aggressive project to date, but a lack of creativity, lyrical variety, persona, and a very poorly mixed production on most of the tracks ... read more
After some underwhelming back to back projects, we get 'The Getaway', that while being pretty enjoyable at some moments, the repetitive slow composition makes up to a project that is boring as a whole, it is nice music, but nothing too exciting or new, just RHCP playing it safe on an album that doesnt stand out.
