Since i met Kota and got familiar with his music i got mixed feelings about him, and this is just another chapter for him.
Overall i feel like Kota goes against the stereotypes of hip hop, he's not a gangster, he's not aggressive, he's not braggadocious, this shit is just so relaxing. Everything is a jazzy and easy-going LP where Kota once again seems to deliver an alternative but not wide material.
Over this 37 minutes there aren't many lows which is interesting and great for him, but for ... read more
Not being experienced on Bob Dylan or folk music in general, this is a really rich and poetic album, that mixes a lot of emotions and beautiful singing by Bob. I really don't care much about Folk, i never liked it much, but this proves me wrong, i need to get started with his discography soon.
This record isn't groundbreaking but its a very good, melancholic, and beautifully produced record, really in love with this.
Was excited to check this.
Teyana Taylor, while having a interesting personality and being a creative singer, like we have seen in her 2018 GOOD FRIDAYS release K.T.S.E, is still a top R&B artist, and it shows from her vocals and creativity.
But as it stands, the main issue with this album is how it fully sounds like a playlist, it has an identity, but no cohesion between the genres it explores. This has a lot of interesting and enjoyable moments but it's a mixed bag that is also very ... read more
Wicked City is not too loud or earraping, and actually manages to bring to the table a nice mix of glitchy and experimental sounds, this is way more interesting and consistent than most of the thriving experimental/bass artists like 100 gecs, it's not an amazing project, but the lyrics and the production made this EP at least enjoyable and consistent for the 20 minutes on this.
For a pretty generic and commercial genre that is EDM, this album is pretty solid
Most of this soundcloud trappers are pretty interesting to listen to on their debut, because most of them end up sounding a little unique and with the chase of glory and clout they do everything to step on up to fame, delivering very interesting material.
Smokepurpp is no exception, after a decent trap debut during the 2017-2018 soundcloud trap era, he released the underwhelming joint Bless Yo Trap, and this album is way worse than that.
This project has no identity and its filled with songs ... read more
50's debut album was one of the most successful debut albums of all time, and it shows a unique approach to hip hop at the time of it's release.
While 60 is talented, the main issue with him is his lack of consistency, hes not consistently good, and thats what doesn't get him a spot between the best of all time. On the other hand this is his most charismatic, enthusiastic and enjoyable album of his, it has some bangers but also low spots. The production is overall very nice.
When it comes to ... read more
Nothing here really stands out, it's really just a slow instrumental approach when it comes to the beat with some lyrics that go well with it, J Cole didn't sound corny at all which is nice, and his flow is pretty nice. The problem with it is that it doesnt feel memorable and the replay value isn't that huge, it feels unfinished and boring after awhile.
On the other hand this might be one of the best and most conscious songs in awhile, not forgetting about MIDDLE CHILD and FRIENDS
This is Tupac's most memorable and successful album, and while his lyrical ability is there and the production of the album is better than ever, most of this was unnecessary, like the disc 2, they could've picked like 2 songs off disc 2 and make a 16 track album that would be a great contender for album of the decade on hip hop.
Disc 1: 94
Disc 2: 59
After 2 growing projects, 2Pac delivers his most heartfelt, linear, conscious, political, and personal project to date. Me Against The Wrld while not representing his popularity peak represents the start of his sky-rocketing popularity and clout, this is the album that exists as a proof of his true value and potential as a lyricist, this is the classic Tupac album that inspired generations.
I feel like even though the project doesn't have a clear objective, it still showcases a very linear and ... read more
While not being a record with full quality front to back, his approach and evolution here deserves tons of respect, even tho this record isn't as focused or lyrical as most of his records, but out of all his albums it is the one that gives off the most enjoyable and groovy vibes that make it hard to dislike.
Graduation was Kanye's 3rd studio album, and his official rise to stardom, and probably his most remarkable and successful album.
After already exchanging some of the gimmicks from hip hop with 2 albums with similar approaches and history's, Kanye now makes music for stadiums, and to be remembered for generations, music that touches you more than ever, this album shifted the culturea nd the pop rap game forever. The heavy use of synths and connecting your soul and emotion to the music u make ... read more
After a couple years gaining clout for his amazing producer->artist partnership with Jay-Z, being a main producer of albums like The Blueprint. Kanye gained the courage and strenght after his car accident in 2003 to make his own debut as a rapper. And this is The College Dropout.
The College Dropout was a very linear and sincere album about his early adult life while being a dropout from University in Chicago, and it is a very wide project emotionally, absorving a lot of different themes ... read more
I usually have really mixed opinions abou bubblegum bass and glitch music in general. And this maximalist album is one of the worst i have heard in my life, it is in no way catchy or innovative since alot of ppl are already doing this shit way better.
I appreciate the unpredictability of the album and the songs with weird ass beat drops, but not only the mixing is weak. The vocals are moslty obnoxious and the lyrics are really fucking bad overall. I totally despise this shit.
I can appreciate ... read more
Out of all the albums on Gira's discography, this one is definitely the most unique when it comes to an approach. ''leaving meaning.'' is a different album, the band now seems to try and seek another sound, a more refined and calm one, leading to a not so traumatic or terrifying experience.
At first this is a very surprising album because of this. But at the end Swans technically lost their essence on this way, what used to be special about them is now gone with this experiment.
With that ... read more
While not being as unique as the 2 previous albums, it also shows spectacular technique and more great music by the infamous Mr. Gira :). I'm honestly so sad that there's only 1 album left after this because this is just incredibly amazing, hoping the Swans release more work soon.
This album shows a similar approach that we saw on To Be Kind, keeping on extending the songs even more to the point where we barely reach 2 hours with only 8 tracks, making this experience extremely deep, ... read more
In comparison to the masterpiece that The Seer was, To Be Kind takes a more xperimental approach that makes the album more hypnotic and varied than any project before it except for amybe Soundtracks for The Blind.
Artistically this albums is as emotional and outstanding as their other peak albums, but this one still didn't ultimately grow on me. But it is indeed an amazing and worth it 2 hour experience through Gira's appaled mind.
WOW WOW WOW OK
It's difficult for me to catch emotions while listening to albums of this kind, but Gira always managed to make me reach that point, with is absolutely terrifying and dark music and this album is what pushed those boundaries to another level. This album is pure madness. This album is the most amazing dark rock album u will find ever. This is absolutely horrifying and demoniac. This led me to tears more than once.
It's been 14 years since the Swans released their peak noisy and experimental album Soundtracks for the Blind, and on 2010 they come back, with apparently a Post-Rock album that reminds me alot of some of their late 80's and mid 90's work.
With only 8 songs this album is almost 44 minutes long, one of their shortest projects to date, maybe even the shortest one. And the main feeling of this album is the vey experimental and noisy background that make up to a very terrifying and scary ... read more
