Red Hot Chili Peppers - I'm With You
53

Afer 20 years of stardom, RCHP release their 10th studio album I'm With You. And this is the album that strongly marks that their peak as a group in terms of quality has ended before this.

This album shows their funk influences less than ever, and showcases what seems to be a very groovy and poppy vibe throughout this whole record. This is an album that is mostly forgettable, and it was in fact quickly forgotten by both reviewers and fans. Being one of the weakest spots on their discography. ... read more

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium
57

After 2 really ambitious and acclaimed albums, stadium Arcadium feels like their biggest exploration when it comes to creativity on a whole record, they never pulled something this varied, but unfortunately most of this isn't that memorable or interesting to come back to after 1 liste. Plus this album has 2 and an half hours of lenght, which makes it extremely tedious at times.

I understand this album being maybe a fan favorite to some, but this is extremely bloated.

89

In comparison with Californication, this one seems to be more toned down to a more melodic and slow rythm which makes the commercial potential even bigger, and can make the album more enjoyable for some. In my opinion this isn't as good as Californication, but it's not far, i feel like at times it lacks a bit of risk, it feels like RHCP played it safe on this album a bit.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
93

After 2 of their most caracteristhic albums, Californication is just a breath of fresh air and the album that in my opinion guaranteed their status as rock pioneers, this was their frist album to be both consistent and extremely enjoyable, and honestly this happens bcause they left their funk focused rock to a more definitive and commercial rock, that really led this album to age way better than the past albums. It isn't too meaningful or emotional but it is the most nostalgic and one of the ... read more

Red Hot Chili Peppers - One Hot Minute
67

This out of any of their albums, is the one that had the biggest potential to be groundbreaking, and it is a quality LP, with an astonishing production, amazing funky vibes, and also a more melancholic side. What lacks the most is a theme and lyrics, it sounds a little all over the place which turns this album to a very hit or miss album.

62

On their 4th album, the RHCP seem to finally find their sound, but they fail to make an album that is consistently interesting, having still a lot of skips.

Jessie Ware - What's Your Pleasure?
72

Compared to what im used to coming from Jessie Ware, this album is way more dance-pop and commercially driven than her usual delivery, this is mature but groovy, simple but catchy, but i still fell like even tho her vocals are decent and the production is enjoyable, i found it extremely repetitive for a 53 minute long album, i expected a little more variety on this, it becomes tedious on some moments, its far from being great front to back, and it isnt close to being one of the best projects of ... read more

HAIM - Women in Music Pt. III
63

I usually expect indie rock albums to chase a classical or unique formula to bring up some interest and charisma to the table. And while this HAIM album isentertaining, it just proves how generic indie music can turn to. I'm not a fan of the heavily autotuned passages and extremely processed eletronic tunes that pop out here and there, it's such a turn off.

On the other hand this record showcases some more great vocals from the sisters' trio, and a very positive and calming vibe that makes it ... read more

Me having low knowledge on glitch hop and this artist, i had no expectations or a bar set to this release, and tbh it kinda surprised me.

My only experience with Arca before was with the 1 hour long single @@@@, that i found interesting on some segments, but its still particularly hard for me to go thru an album like this for so long. Maybe Deconstructed and glitchy bass music isn't for me, but on the other hand this album was extremely entertaining and interesting as a whole, it wasn't ... read more

50 Cent - The Kanan Tape
69

Curtis sounds better when he fully commits to gangsta trap or R&B trap infusions than when he tried to pull his mediocre and bloated albums, this is consistent.

50 Cent - Animal Ambition: An Untamed Desire to Win
47

Animal Ambition is the 50 comeback after 5 years since his last LP, and while this has ok content and lyrics, the way he approaches the album is not only desperate for veiws and gaining back popularity, but also super inconsistent, how the production and vocal approach changes every song that passes is really weird. Which contributes tothis album that had a huge potential that was wasted on very commercial and lackluster formulas.

50 Cent - Before I Self Destruct
46

This album represents the changing point on 50's career, this was a really forgotten and ignored record that came out on late 2009, and represented the approach change from 50, after the commercially appealing but underwhelming Curtis, this album shows the definitive transition into the NY Lo-fi Hip Hop that has a lower potential commercially, but at least shows us better songs lyrically, 50 doesn't deliver a fully interesting record or even a consistent one, but at least he changed his ... read more

50 Cent - Curtis

50 was always slightly overrated, this album's the proof of it, this is so incredibly boring

Chloe x Halle - Ungodly Hour
77

This duo has an unmatched chemistry, this twins really make a perfect team on this bouncy and varied R&B record that i had huge expectations for, it's definitely more refined and catchy than the debut.

The album while being far from the top of R&B, shows a different a nice consistency and personality coming from Chloe and Halle, this sound is very infeccious and catchy, the production is really cool too, going from smooth piano's and strings to trap infusions.

This sounds way more ... read more

Run The Jewels - RTJ4
96

Without any doubt one of the most consistent and enjoyable politically conscious hip hop albums of the century, this is better than any shit Public Enemy ever released on their career, this is some next level shit, plus the production...jeez.

I think this album also came at the right time, because of the protests, so it makes this even more revolutionary.

ACAB

Little Simz - Drop 6
54

This sounds very under-written compared to Grey Area, really expected more, but still solid

JoJo - good to know
44

This new JoJo LP has enjoyable and groovy production, but it's the definition of a usual middle of the road Pop-R&B album, it's too generic and while her songs do have a little substance lyrically, the lack of emotion and cohesion on this project overall makes it feel very dull and dead. IT's not terrible but definitely underwhelming.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Dedicated Side B
72

Just like with Emotion, Carly manages to pick some songs that nearly match the quality of the original project.

This is nothing that amazing, but the catchiness and the production matched with Carly's vocal talent end up creating a very nice project.

Lil Yachty - Lil Boat 3
74

Lil Yachty is an Atlanta trapper from the 2016-2017 soundcloud rap class that brought in tons of trappers that prioritized vibes over superficial lyrics. And unlike most people i do respect it and i like this change on the hip-hop, but the main issue with it is how most of this rappers turned out to be really underwhlming after this come-ups, and Lil Yachty was no exception, after an average debut, he dropped Teenage Emotions, which is one of the weakest trap pop rap albums i've heard ever, and ... read more

Medhane - Cold Water
74

Going back to MEDHANE and the slums movement, the nice reviews and score this had got me thinking if this was an upgrade.

My point on this is that while this has arguably a better and more wide production under the limitations of this genre, MEDHANE seems like a stagnant rapper, this is definitely an enjoyable experience, but it would only be really nice and worth to replay if we never streamed any of his past projects, which gives me mixed feelings about this abstract rapper, and while this ... read more
