A couple years after the release of Children Of God, the Swans release other great project, that makes me have a mix of verious emotions, this isn't as dark as their early projects, but very emotional and enthusiastic, i didn't imagine this band being so enjoyable prioritizing the power and emotional side of their lyrical content, instead of putting the terror in first place, which doesnt mean this isn't dark, just different and very enjoyable, the production goes from post-punk, to more ... read more
The first 4 albums by Swans we're all downgrades, which lead me to feel like this vould be weak as well. But guess what, for an edgy/dark music fan, this an amazing surprise, this project is amazing, it is up there with Filth, and it has one of the darkest cuts and lyrics i've heard all my life, this is a scary trip, i got goosebumps while listening to this, and i fucking love it, what a fucking amazing transition by them. So happy with this project, i love how they went from dark and noisy ... read more
Having a similar cover to Greed, i expected this to have a similar essence, and it's basically the same album, it's annoying because of it, some people seem to prefer thsi one, but it is so similar that i keep feeling like this isn't superior to Greed, just a part 2 that sounds kind of the same. It's not bad, but for a ''sequel'' of Greed i expected either an improvement or a little change to make this project more enjoyable and a stand-out.
This is the first time that the Swans seem to be actually making a turn into a different sound, specially vocally, instead of muble screaming like on Filth and Cop, here he vocals are still dark and terrifying but now more stable and calm instead of the screaming and raging. This is unpredictable and intriguing as i enjoy the Swans work. But the main issue with this project is how boring it turned out to be after replaying it, probably one of the lowest replay values on their discography, maybe ... read more
The birth of the Swans was the great start to an experimental and noisy cult within the Rock atmosphere. This debut is one of their darkest and more unique projects, it isnt too long and it a fun ride, it's an heavy and hard hitting album, which a very interesting and intriguing energy that the Swans would keep for the rest of their careers.
While the production is mostly very enjoyable, his performance on this project remains weak, he could do so much better. Maybe its just weird to hear him over more modern production, he seems too dated. It's pretty weird how his last album is the one who aged worse. This isn't too bad, but it's not good, and it's very inconsistent and long
I will keep my POV and say this is very overrated, i keep feeling like this transition affected MJ's career ALOT, and made it difficult for him to keep relevance and successful records and singles, in this album he transitioned into pop-R&B and i dont feel like the genre he goes by on this project suits well his vocals and voice ability, basically making him waste his strenghts, this is the fall off of Micheal Jackson. The songs are also way too long most of the times, contributing to a ... read more
Opposed to the very melodic approach on Thriller, on Bad makes a soft contrast, with an album that feels more alive and disco flavored once again, but still sticking to the pop schemes. This isn't as memorable or incredible as Thriller, but it isn't a loss on quality, just an adaptation to other variant of pop that isn't that different from what MJ's ambitions and style is. It has a huge replay value, and it can be considered even better than its predecessor.
This is pop music classic, while more focused on pure pop than disco funk infusions like in ''Off The Wall'', MJ fucks around and delivers one of the most enjoyable pop albums of all time, while not being perfect it is very very enjoyable and it aged really well, it could still be played today due to it's great replay value. The production isn't unique but it's very very enjoyable, and the amazing and emotional vocals by Micheal really make the album skyrocket.
The first MJ album after he grown up from the Jackson 5 era, is the project that projected him to the top of mainstream music.
The most interesting detail about this project is how many different sounds it mixes, it is mostly disco pop, but it has many fusions specially from funk elements that come from his race and culture, which makes this a whole salad of different sounds and cultures that make this a very exquisite trip, and one of the most entertaining albums of the 70's. While not being ... read more
Opposed to his first 3 albums, this album has a little more disco and upbeat moods, which make a little more enjoyable, be he was still very young, and his voice still needed to evolve into the beautiful voice he had on the peak of his career, but even though this album isn't similar to the first 3 when it comes to the style, it still suffers from a lot of the same issues
This is MJ's worst solo project, it isn't terrible, but i swear to god all this early projects do sound mostly the same after all, this is a very hard album to go through after listening to it's 2 predecessors.
Compared to his debut, this album manages to have a more personal side and approach, which makes this album gain a little more worth, but his voice still wasn't on top of form, and he was still 13. This record is overall very repetitive and tedious, but it deserves it's respect
This project is ruined by Michael's premature and young voice which is really high pitched and annoying after a while, it makes his debut sadly unlistenable, and it is not memorable at all, it's mostly random tunes od pop soul with little meaning or essence, but he was really young, maybe too young to start exploring his solo artistic tunes, which in this case we cant really blame him.
Mariah's sophomore album, is mostly a copy of her debut project, which leads to it being vastly underwhelming, the high notes and the melodies are still on point, but this albums shows a lot of lack of creativity and lack of a persona on her music, overall this LP leans a bit more to the R&B side than the 80's pop vibe of her previous record, while not being a bad transition, it does too little to be really noticeable, and it isn't as emotional or deep as her debut album.
I dont really count this as a Queen album since it is posthumous to Freddie's death, and it is predictably weak, and mostly forgettable since i never replayed it, it just feels a bit off
After a terrible album that represented one of the last moments of Queen as a band, here's the encore, the album that comes out before the death of Freddie Mercury, and the last project of one of the most legendary bands of all time, and while not being too remarkable or impressive in my eyes, i feel like it's legacy as the last project of the band is what makes this project so special, while seemingly more to the side of synthpop/synth-rock, i feel like this album misses to be amazing on their ... read more
After such an improvement across the 80's on Pop Rock, Queen releases possibly their worst album to finish off the decade, this isn't that bad on intrumentlas, but the tracklist and approach to this album make this experiment a really boring trip, this is the real Queen fall off
After improving on The Works, this pop rock album is even better and massively underrated, one of their best to date even, the energy is very intriguing and unique, an album that stands out on their discography, the eletronic mix of pop and rock here makes up to one of the best albums of its genre of the 80's, this is the msot innacurately underrated Queen album by far.
