I am very entranced by this album. I'd vaguely heard of Mandy, Indiana before this, but had never properly checked them out. I am now very glad I did. This album fuses a lot of really interesting noise rock, industrial, and even deconstructed club elements to turn into a very moody, yet enticing atmosphere. I wasn't wowed at first, but the longer and longer I got into the album, the more entranced I became- that being said, I definitely think this album is back heavy, almost all of ... read more
The more I listen to Babuchan the more I think they're just evil Kikuo. (great album!)
Definitely pretty, definitely fun, but not as mind blowing as some other stuff I've heard in the genre. The first two tracks are probably the best, after that it sorta falls off.
Extremely pretty bubblegum bass and collage type music! I'm especially fond of the song Dandelion (Let Go), likely due to the presence of Galen Tipton on that track. The sound design is on point this album sometimes I think it's a bit weaker in the more formless songs, but overall it manages to paint a very pretty picture.
Not one of her worst, not one of her best, it stands relatively in the middle.
power noise is so good. The title track "My Sweet Honey Bunny" reminds me so much of early Machine Girl. I love the duo of PONK and PUNK as well, both of those go insane. Miffy is the only track I'm kind of whatever on, everything else is pretty good. I'm impressed something like this existed in 1999.
This is really good! Really doomsday sounding fusion between noise and glitch pop that has a lot to offer. "Black Smoke Maze" is definitely my favourite, this thing definitely sounds like the end of the world or something ridiculous, but most of the songs are pretty good.
One of Babuchan's worse, projects imo, although I wouldn't go and say it's bad. I'm still quite fond of "Catamite march", I think the breakdown on that song is pretty fantastic. However, most of the other songs generally fall into forgettable territory, opting for primarily the piano and vocaloid vocals, often missing much of the more chaotic parts of Babuchan's music that I am most fond of.
This one is pretty good! I really like the extremely bombastic production on "13階段のすべりだい", that one has got to be the best one. It feels like an explosion. The other songs are pretty good too, though there are some weaker ones, track 5 and 6 don't really do much for me.
I tried to give this one a chance. I really did. I feel bad for this ranking but... HitoKilli Chiang-Shih's vocals are completely unbearable to me. I like Babuchan's production a lot because it manages to mix something that is simultaneously so beautiful and creepy, but HitoKilli's vocals are so goofy sounding that it just offsets the entire vibe. Like raspy yodelling it's just awful I hate it. Take that out and this album likely does much better for me but. Man. It's ... read more
This album is really nice! I think clark is at his best when he goes for idm with an industrial tinge, and this is a great example of that in his discography.
The main thing going against this album is that it's extremely bloated. There's some really fun stuff in the first half, such as everyday fishing, ratchet, understand me, but by the time we get to the later half, I've tuned out.
The thing about this album is, every single song apart from Pandemic feels like an unrealized potential of what the song Pandemic actually achieves. Pandemic is this thrashing building industrial piece which takes this type of sound and really pushes it to its limits. Every other song uses that same sound and just sort of... meanders around without doing much of anything.
This is fantastic. The sheer level of experimentation and noisiness of the production is phenomenal, and the way it's mixed with bells and Hatsune Miku vocaloid gives it a very childlike feel, which is such a fascinating juxtaposition. It's one that I've heard before by other artists, but the only other artist that I'd say balances it this well is arai tasuku. Favourite song is 螺鈿の骨 (Mother of Pearl), it's just so god damn creepy, runner up is 造花の雫 ... read more
There's certainly some interesting sounds here, such as Angelica and Safe (which are my two favourites), but I feel like a lot of this is sort of... meandering, especially in the second half
I have decided to start 2026 with an album under the genre "Power Noise". I don't regret it. It certainly lives up to the genre. This is some very powerful noise! I like the deconstructed club aspects to this album a lot as well, even though it's main appeal is being the most intense and overwhelming thing I've ever heard in my life, the beats and sounds are pretty sick. I fuck with it heavily.
When it comes to experimental/electronic artists from the 90's, you've got your boards of canada and daft punk who managed to create music that blew up and became major sensations, and I always wondered why Matmos' early stuff never achieved that same level of notoriety when I would say they are arguably as good, but now listening to this album I do understand why. It's still an interesting album, don't get me wrong, and definitely insightful into the beginnings of what ... read more
One of Patricia's longest albums I've heard (excluding the TECHDOG series), but also a pretty damn good one. The perfect glitch/idm that itches my brain. Sometimes the songs go on a bit too long but they're generally all really good.
