This is not an album I was planning on listening to this year but for whatever reason I decided to give it a go, and I am damn glad I did cause it was amazing. Honestly, PC music will never die, cause it lives on through albums like these. This seriously felt like such a throwback to the very earliest days of what PC music was trying to do back in the mid 2010's, but with obviously much more modern chops, and it comes together really really well. I think this kind of production is like ... read more
This album is utterly baffling to me quite frankly. If cuteness of albums were ranked, this would be number one, but less as the winner of being the cutest, but more in the sense that they have compressed and compacted so much cuteness into such a small space like a trash compactor but with like... cuteness I guess... This sort of "vibe" of music is what I would consider as the more experimental version of what pc music started. Or well, I guess pc music was experimental in the first ... read more
Woah. This is pretty damn great. After getting into Ada Rook through... surprisingly her collaborative project with Lauren Bousfield, aka DOOR EATER, I knew it was time for me to finally check out her solo work, and oh boy it did not disappoint. This is an absolutely killer group of digitial hardcore songs. cortisol and PEE YUORSELF are the two standouts to me. the latter makes me laugh every time I see the name, the intentional mispelling on a title already that silly is CRAZY. Overall this ... read more
Yeah, this is pretty good! I think the main problem this album has is a lot of the songs do feel sort of samey, but honestly when they're this good that's not too big of a detractor. Can I just say though... cloud drop... WOW. This song absolutely fucking blows everything else here out of the water. One of the most phenomenal songs ever, god damn.
Yeah, it's pretty soothing ambient music. While far from my favourite thing Sega Bodega has released, it's cool to see him venturing out and experimenting with other genres. While I don't always find that these experiments hit, this one does the job quite nicely.
Huh. Not sure why, but this one is kind of going over my head. Even after three listens, I'm not super into it. I don't dislike it! I just am not super intrigued by it.
Shmu's music is so cool man. He feels like the exact midpoint between Keith Rankin's Giant Claw and Galen Tipton. Like weird intense plunderphonics mixed with bubbly glitch music. The textures are so intensely in your face and the songs are the perfect mix of abstract and grounded. Sour Patch Lattice Download and Post Apocalyptic 11:11 are my two favourites. Flying Yogic Superego is not far behind. But honestly, there's very few misses. It's just so clean all the way through.
I wish I enjoyed this as much as everyone else did. I do still quite like it, as I do with all modern OPN works, but I definitely have a preference for his works that lean less towards ambience and tape recordings. Especially his much more intense works- garden of delete will probably forever remain my favourite OPN album. However, even though I don't connect with this as much as the general population, I still think it's pretty neat! It's hard to hate an album by him- no matter ... read more
Wow. This is excellent. When it comes to noise/ambient music, it can tend to be fairly hit or miss. This was undeniably a hit for the most part. Things feel very devastating. Not in a super overwhelming loud and insane way like other music, but in a much more raw and emotional way. Live Room is the number one song here for sure. I adore the first two tracks as well, though. Not very many misses.
While not as strong as the original Eusexua, this is still quite a mighty piece of work. I think this one has some really high highs, but it also contains definitely the worst songs out of all of the Eusexua rollout to me, Wild And Alone, Cheap Hotel and Predictable Girl are just... bad to me sorry. That being said, everything else is pretty good! I'm a big fan of the first two songs, Love Crimes and Slushy, they feel like the most accurate "continuation" of the original Eusexua ... read more
Oh wow, I've been following Clark vaguely for a couple years now, ever since Sus Dog released, and this is easily my favourite project from him. Sus Dog and Cave Dog were decent enough, In Camera was boring, but this is extremely fascinating. It reminds me a lot of "R Plus Seven" by Oneohtrix Point Never, so any fans of that album should also enjoy this album. It's really fun IDM/Techno with a hint of industrial to it and I'm really into it. Top two songs are ... read more
This is a really cool album in concept. The entire ROADS series is, actually. I think going to a certain place is the world, in this case rural Namibia, and just living there and recording things from there and letting the environment seep into you in order to create music is honestly brilliant. I really enjoyed the songs on here that especially leaned into the native Namibian influences, in particular, "Mwafe (with Kwando's Mwafe)" and "Dokido (with Ozohere's Himba) ... read more
This is pretty nice. I don't find it super groundbreaking, but I still like it. I always have a soft spot for super theatrical music, so it's pretty expected that I like this. "Red & Gold" is especially my fav, the opera vocals on this one mixed with the electronic production hit just right for me, but I love "Furia Electronica" too, that's a close second.
Now this is some great breakcore. Such a fun and silly album! "Petit Money" probably the best song here, followed by "Liebetskaiia" and "MTN - Mange Tes Nems". Overall a really fun album!
Hmmm... I honestly found this to be... not one of Igorrr's best. I think I miss the breakcore aspects of his music, which isn't super present on this album. Even though I am disappointed with the overall project, I gotta say, "Silence" is absolutely one of his best songs to date. This song singlehandedly carries my ranking of this album up to the sixties from the fifties. What an incredible song. Absolutely twisted production, it feels like... shivering horribly while sick ... read more
Phenomenal. Truly. I knew once I saw Lauren Bousfield and Ada Rook working together that it would be great, and those expectations were met perfectly! The song "day wrecker" is absolutely the best one, holy fucking shit the break in that song is ABSOLUTELY INSANE. "hardrush" is a close second though, I absolutely love the synthwavey vibes here, mixing it with ada's screeching vocals just makes it go hard as hell. "try" and "laughter" are the other ... read more
This had a nice start but instantly fell off after the first two or three songs.
I quite liked this! I've known 3l3d3p very vaguely for half a decade now thanks to the song ibitbt which is an underground banger, but that's really the only song I knew from her. I wasn't going into this with really any expectations at all, but I am happy to say I was pleasantly surprised! This little album mixes breakcore, industrial music, glitch pop, and much more into a very tight 25 minute package, and apart from the first two songs, it always stays extremely fun and ... read more
Yeah, screw it, galen tipton has BOTH of my top 2 albums of this year. I really can't describe the run that galen tipton has been on this year. Like, I've been a fan of hers since 2021, ever since goddexx came out, and while I've always enjoyed her sound design, she never really had one project that was really like... all around phenomenal and exceptional. That has now changed this year, as she now has TWO projects that I find all around phenomenal, this one, and dewclaws, her ... read more
These songs are so good. I don't care much for the third one but the first two are absolutely gorgeous in their own rights. The first one is strangely industrial with a fascinating beat, the second song reminds me a lot of polo & pan but but with much more dark and sinister vibes. Overall it's a very haunting selection of songs. Really really good.
