New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle
100

Everytime I think of you I get shot right through with a bolt of blue

Insanely singable lyrics, simple, visceral and powerful

New Order - True Faith
100

Sad head bopping sprinkled with a hope, reflection and an infectious beat

Great lyrics here :
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near,
To the childhood I lost replaced by fear

Naughty Boy - La La La
86

Only Sam smith song I can voluntarily put on. This shit slaps

MGMT - Loss of Life
73

I feel like MGMT really could have made all these songs way more catchy if they wanted, but i think it really adds to the album that it stays consistently a touch distorted and fragmented. Once I leant into that, this album made more sense.

This really has some very high moments, alot of beatle-esque(if that means anything) horn sections, then it almost feels vangelis was the producer on this with some of the synths lol.

Also loss of life, the closer, feels absolutely like you are dying, ... read more

Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting
82

You telling me you aren't fly kicking to this? Cmon now.

Also hello everyone, life's got busy, but I hope everyone's doing good πŸ™

MGMT - Mother Nature
90

Ngl I'm getting big oasis vibes from this, the good side of oasis lol

The Cranberries - Zombie
100

Never knew people hated this song haha. I'm from Ireland and this song is about the unnecessary violence that was caused during "The Troubles". Personally I love this song and how the vocals are, you can feel the desperation, grief and anger through them.

Sufjan Stevens - Javelin
93

Sufjan is skyrim bards if they had modern equipment, throw that lute away Ragnar.

I'll be honest it took me a while to warm up to this sound, here we go another indie generic trash can fuck. Who is the naive lost boi. That's what I thought initially.

But this is a beautiful album once I allowed myself to let go of prejudice. It's whimsical and idealistic no doubt, but also grounded in pain and sorrow.

yeule - softscars

this might be my favourite song of this year. Crushing, distorted and completely hypnotic

Daft Punk - Within (Drumless Edition)
80

Not to be the "oh it's great but the mIXInG" guy but oh.. oh it's great, but the mIXInG. this song is dying for drums, major L from Kraft Punk, pls add drums you drummies.

Also AI is terrifying listen to the vocals, it sounds SynTheTIc!!
SCARY. SCARY

Kinda nice to have this actually

Ed Sheeran - Autumn Variations
60

This feels like sitting next to a cosy fire in your living room, listening to your grandparents talk about nice stories. Everything is sweet. You are smiling and laughing along with these trips down memory lane.

Then you realise after 30 minutes that these stories keep repeating. Yes we know you loved vietnam granda, but please not again. You get antsy, this should be a nice vibe but I heard you the first time i swear. You start counting down the minutes until he falls asleep, okay one more ... read more

Faithless - Insomnia
100

This has a different feel to any dance track I've heard before, it almost has a spoken word feel to it. Its beautiful.

CPSC - We’re Safety Now, Haven’t We?
30

I can already hear government robots playing this while I walk around the city

Nickelback - Rockstar
69

Maybe not the best but no way its 39

Mitski - The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We
87

Edit: this has actually grew off me a decent amount but still a great project.

94 --> 87

Original review :

Weird take but I feel like she has the voice of a female John Denver, the vibes of weyes blood and the artistry of Kate Bush.

BUT ENOUGH OF THIS COMPARISON DRIVEL.

I absolutely love the base of this sound, the singing, the drums. But what sends this to a new level for me is the subtle background sounds, the droning guitar leads, the subtle riffs from the strings, piano, synths ... read more

Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS
72

Doesn't relate to my experience 0 out of 100

Okay this is a solid effort from Olivia Rodrigo well done bro

Whilst generic at times and of course has a trademark piano ballad( which honestly went over better than I imagined), I really didn't feel any de ja vu in this album. Mwhahahaha

Was popping my head to songs like "bad idea right" , "ballad of a homeschooled girl" and "teenage dream". Really was following the heavier feeling tracks on here.

I'm just glad ... read more

This has made me reconsider what I think of jazz singers.

How come before I couldn't bare the thought of listening to a full Frank sinatra album, but this had me interested the whole way through?

This just must have something that keeps me listening, and im still trying to work out what it is. Maybe its just her voice, the subtleness of instruments and the grooves. Maybe its just I like lofi jazz. I dont know but I love this. Okay deep breaths...

Dreamer would for sure be a hit in the 50s ... read more

Juan Berdugo - Bloom
85

Dude this is so good, I'm shit at explaining why but the atmosphere in some of these songs is incredible, feel like this just gets better and better as it goes.

I hear radiohead sometimes I hear david bowies Low sometimes, I hear the witcher soundtrack other times. Such a great mix of ambient sounds and vocal performances. Thank you for showing me this.

Favourites : shadow in the mist, Pt.2(mist), eclipse
