Such a dynamic and interesting album. It begins with an ominous and foreboding horn that permeates the entire album, before quickly becoming more and more chaotic. This tension keeps building until the second part starts, and they introduce drums and eventually a bass, turning it into a more rock sound, reminding me of Swans a tiny bit. The momentum keeps building until it feels like it collapses in on its self and lashes out in the noisiest bit yet, consuming everything around it. The drums ... read more
I hate that I actually really like this. My AJR experience was, before this, all negative. I listened to the click because I had a friend who liked AJR and I hated it, hated the songs on that were big on TikTok, and then got into a YouTuber who shall not be named who also hated them. Pure, unadulterated fun and energy. Some of the most creative production and catchy choruses out there. This probably doesn’t deserve an 100, but it’s just too goddamn fuuuuuunnnnn.
Nostalgia Trip #5:
Last album I am revisiting for this is the first ever album that I sat down and listened to (everything else was in the background). Demon Days does what Gorrilaz does best, creates a unique sound with tons of variety, and bringing in talent from many genres. I adore the vast majority of this album, but it really falters during the last three tracks, which are just kinda boring. But overall, an amazing experience with a lot of fun songs.
