Such a dynamic and interesting album. It begins with an ominous and foreboding horn that permeates the entire album, before quickly becoming more and more chaotic. This tension keeps building until the second part starts, and they introduce drums and eventually a bass, turning it into a more rock sound, reminding me of Swans a tiny bit. The momentum keeps building until it feels like it collapses in on its self and lashes out in the noisiest bit yet, consuming everything around it. The drums ... read more
I hate that I actually really like this. My AJR experience was, before this, all negative. I listened to the click because I had a friend who liked AJR and I hated it, hated the songs on that were big on TikTok, and then got into a YouTuber who shall not be named who also hated them. So going into this, despite the mostly positive reaction, I still only expected to think it was OK at best. But unfortunately this is a really solid project. The only song I didn’t like was Betty, and I ... read more
Whitehorses side isn’t the greatest (80), the vocals are weird and it doesn’t really go anywhere.
On the other hand Uboa’s side (100) is literally some of her best work ever. Although not as emotional as much of her other work, this makes up for it by having amazing production and a weird ass storyline. The closer is both some of her most unique songs and one of her best songs period, being much more poppy and with a genuinely insane build up. Her vocals are also on point ... read more
Pure, unadulterated fun and energy. Some of the most creative production and catchy choruses out there. This probably doesn’t deserve an 100, but it’s just too goddamn fuuuuuunnnnn.
Nostalgia Trip #5:
Last album I am revisiting for this is the first ever album that I sat down and listened to (everything else was in the background). Demon Days does what Gorrilaz does best, creates a unique sound with tons of variety, and bringing in talent from many genres. I adore the vast majority of this album, but it really falters during the last three tracks, which are just kinda boring. But overall, an amazing experience with a lot of fun songs.
Nostalgia Trip #4:
This one’s a bit less of a look back for me simply because I’ve never really stopped listening to many of the tracks from it, I just hadn’t listened to the full album front to back in a while. This actually used to be my favorite album of all time, before I really started to listen to music. I absolutely love the lyrics and the whole concept behind this album, the sci-fi storytelling is so fun. It genuinely has some of the best and most catchy hooks in pop ... read more

Actually way better than I remembered. This used to be my least favorite tally hall project, but revisiting it, I was very wrong. It’s got some stinkers, but most of it among the best tally hall songs. The concept is pretty cool, and while the album can get a bit pretentious, that’s not really something I care too much about in music. I wish mind electric didn’t have that entire first half though, that’s kinda stupid (ik it’s like the halfway ... read more

The second album from my former favorite band is a pretty solid follow up in my opinion, is an overall improvement. It doesn’t have quite as high of highs as MMMM, but the consistency really helps elevate it. Plus the lack of racism is nice too. Overall fun indie pop rock bangers, but nothing as creative as MMMM
Nostalgia Trip #1:
I’m going to be revisiting some of the earliest albums I’ve ever listened to
This was very possibly the first album I listened to (unsure) so I have some sentiment towards it. Eventually it fell out of rotation as I begin to kinda dislike it, so I was surprised that I didn’t think it was that bad on a revisit. It starts of quite strong with the first five tracks, but then is just okay and forgettable for the rest of the runtime, with a few notable ... read more
“But I can’t connect a phone to my Bluetooth, so how could I connect the youth through my YouTube?”
Wow this is… not good. This is extremely corny and just kinda boring. Most of the lyrics aren’t good and some are laughable, like the one above which made me laugh out loud it was that bad. Production’s okay, probably the best part, which isn’t a high bar. His growth over time is insane though, it’s really cool to hear stuff that almost ... read more
“I’m incomplete and I pretend that no one knows”
Thank you you @SnowyFighter (the lead guitarist) for the recommendation!
Hell yeah! This album is super energetic and intense, especially the vocals. Speaking of which, the vocalist does an insane job, probably my favorite part of the album. The lyrics are well written too, especially on the first three songs, some of those lines really hit me. The instrumentals were also, as I said, super energetic, loved the inclusion of a ... read more
“Am I seeking to be held, so I don’t have to hold myself?”
Pirouette goes in a much more dancey direction than Dogsbody, and I think this change works wonderfully. Even though the manic energy from Dogsbody is gone, which was a huge part of why I liked it, it still manages to exceed that album. Very catchy, and amazing production. It also can get very emotional, with some slower songs.
“ I'll have only known the sound of your absence”
First venture into black metal, and I liked what I heard. Took me a while to get used to the vocals, but eventually I started enjoying them, although I do wish they did a bit more of the singing voice because I really enjoyed the contrast between the two sections on any song that had both styles. Instrumental are euphoric, switching between ruthlessness and moments of respite.
“But I want to see humans and cities as more than just a disease”
Solid ambient album. Very weird experience to find randomly on Spotify, no idea why it seems like it’s getting pushed to so many people. From what I understand, this album is a compilation of songs from artists on the erased tapes record label, with their names anonymized. Overall a pretty decent album, track 6, “Let it Go” is amazing
“And these fuckers gonna say it's all about peace, check the stats motherfucker it's all about greed”
Why did I take so long to listen to this? Super creative production and amazing rapping from Backxwash. The songs build in such a cool way, with the both the production and the rapping intensifying as the song progresses. Lyrics are also great, full of self hatred, but also the resolve to get up and push forward and make a change.
“Oh, I'll be free, just like that bluebird”
Blackstar is Bowie’s swan song, during his death into an extremely impactful piece of art. Taking influences from all over, such as jazz, post punk, and even post rock, he fuses together a phenomenal sound. The lyrics about his passing, his life, and impact on the world work so well. Amazingly emotional too, had me tearing up multiple times, especially the closer oh my god
I haven't kept up with Miley Cyrus, but what the fuck?!?! This is insane?!?!
"It's like a lonely golden dawn"
Very interesting mix of screamo and prog rock. Vocals were amazing, not super familiar with screamo, so would really like to get into more after this. Every single other member of the band also does some great performances, especially the drummer
"Baby, tell me what's the point of preaching to the choir if I can't see you in the crowd?"
SO FUCKING FUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!! Absolutely bonkers and creative production, like why is there a Fortnite and Sonic.exe sample in here?!? This album had me pretty much constantly moving to the music, and I don't do that often. Absolutely flabbergasted by just the sheer creative prowess on display here. There were multiple points were I was on the verge of tears, not because ... read more
