Tyler, The Creator - CHROMAKOPIA +
70

Why not just drop the song separately, because there isn't enough content for a deluxe. Why make a deluxe when the new song when it doesn't really add anything to the experience. Mother is a pretty good song though

Dave - The Boy Who Played the Harp
85

Firstly, this is easily Dave's best album cover. Also, this is definitely Dave's best work (that I've heard).

This album is more somber than the rest of Dave's other albums, which are more raw than somber. There aren't really any bangers on here that will be hits like Location or Sprinter. However, the album makes up for this with it's brilliant lyricism, and (in my opinion), and better production.

The album gets better as it goes on. The 3 starting tracks, ... read more

MF DOOM - Born Like This
80

Still great, but more inconsitent than some of Doom's older works. Honestly, multiple tracks on here should've probably been cut - e.g, Batty Boyz, Bumpy's Message - or Reworked - e.g Supervillanz. Really like Cellz as a track that sets up a lot of the world Doom is portraying here, and is super underated.

Best Tracks: Gazzillion Ear, That's that
Worst: Batty Boyz - not so great messaging -, Bumpy's Message (Why was this even left on the track list?)

First Leg is ... read more

Nujabes - Luv(sic) Hexalogy
97

*I am ranking this on JUST the hexalogy, not the extra remixes, instrumentals et cetera)
Luv(Sic) 1 - 6 have some of the best, and most iconic production on any hiphop songs ever made. The lyricism is also incredible, but arguably declines throughout the series a little bit. The first 3 are all undeniable masterpieces, and are very upbeat, whereas the last 3 switch the tone to be a lot more somber - and a little worse.

Ranking:
1) Luv(Sic)
2) Luv(Sic) Pt 3
3) Luv(Sic) Pt 2

Joey Bada$$ - 1999
83

Favourite Tracks: Righteous Minds, Survival Tactics (Masterpiece)
Least Favourite: Summer Knights, Suspect (I know it's a cypher, but it slightly overstays its welcome)
Generally pretty good, but can definitely drag a bit. The high points on this are incredibly memorable, but the middle points can drag a bit

Doing this at such a young age is incredibly impressive though (I didn't factor this into my ranking though)

Denzel Curry - Melt My Eyez See Your Future
85

Great album, being much more personal than previous Denzel projects, as well as future ones. While some songs I wouldn't personally revisit, all songs are quality enough that one could. Also, starting this album off with Walkin and Melt Session #1 was a great idea, it gets you really hype for the rest of the project. They also happen to be the best songs on the project as a whole. Other songs like X-wing and The Ills are great, and the smell of death is a nice reference to the late MF DOOM

Denzel Curry - Melt My Eyez See Your Future (The Extended Edition)
80

I've already rated the rest of the album, and the added remixes aren't too bad, though I think some are worse than the original production on their respective songs, while some improve them. Ultimately, I would've preferred to see the deluxe/extended addition add more content from Denzel, instead of remixing.

¥$ - VULTURES 2
25

Not too much worse than the first one, the production is definitely a bit more copeable, but features are even worse, and SOMEHOW Kanye's lyrics get even worse than before. The features are also pretty shit, but what did you expect.

Worst :Husband, Lifestyle, Bomb (without Yuno) Isabella, Time moving slow (Needs mastering)
Best: Bomb(with Yuno)

Kanye is turning into a bad caricature of himself, and rap as a whole

35

45th review, and ironically a 45. I actually kinda see what this album was going for, and the production is sometimes pretty good. However, the lyrics are terrible, and features are also pretty mediocre, yet Kanyes own performance dwarfs all others in how bad it is. Some of the songs just don't have any mastering, and at least half the tracklist is unlistenable. Ty $ Sign doesn't really add anything much to the album, and kinda just sits in the background for most of it. Burn is ... read more

Clipse - Let God Sort Em Out
90

While not particularly conceptual, this album deserves its praise due to its phenomenal track list, that had no weak points front to back, with each track being extremely enjoyable. Both pharrell, who provides incredible production for this whole project, and the clipse brothers, who both bring killer verses, brought their A game to this project. Malice does especially well on the project. Almost all of the features are also great, though all things considered and by the grace of God have less ... read more

Earl Sweatshirt - solace
80

The song itself is definitely more than this, however ad it is listed as an ep, I will give it lower as there is a relatively low amount of content.

Joey Valence & Brae - HYPERYOUTH
73

This album is a bit of a blend of genres, being pop rap, experimental hip hop, hip house and arguably hyper pop at points. While the album is generally good, the sometimes overly bragadocious and corny rapping brings the project down for me, though it definitely touches on some more deep topics at points throughout the album.

JID - God Does Like Ugly
85

JID succeeds on pure rapping as always, though thr individual songs and overall album vision isn't ad good. Also feel like the production was a step down from the forever story. If there is a deluxe to this project, he should either remove or remaster all of tracks 8 - 11, which really should've been on the preluxe instead of the final album.

Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.
80

I really want to like this album more than I do, but I just don't really like the sound Kendrick had on this album, and a lot of the songs get annoying ofter being played a lot, the two main examples being HUMBLE and, to a lesser extent, PRIDE. Thecocnept of wickedness and weakness is really cool, and shows kendircks writing skill with how the album can be listened back to front. That's kinda it

Best Song: Duckworth
Worst Song: Loyalty, Blood, Yah

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
90

The title track is fucking incredible, and up there with the best songs of all time. However, for me personally, the rest of the album doesn't really hold up to quite that same standard.

Travis Scott - ASTROWORLD
75

It's good, don't get me wrong, but compared to even travis' other projects, the production just doesn't work for me, and that drags the score down a whole lot. That being said, the album is of a good quality, and I can completely understand why some people hold it so highly.

Nas - Illmatic
100

Realistically, this album is 9 songs long (The Genesis doesn't really count). Of those, 5 are perfect songs, which is over half of the album, that I really don't think any other album has really done, even if some are rated higher.

Even though this album may not have quite as much to say as some other albums, or the length of them, the sheer quality of what is here gives it such a high score.

It's even more impressive when you consider his age when he made this

Tyler, The Creator - DON'T TAP THE GLASS
75

🔥💯!!TYLER TRIES TO SAVE THE SUMMER!!🔥🔥💯

..and doesn't really succeed in my opinion. Big Poe probably came the closest. Still a good album though.

Welcome to Tyler the Creator's GNX, a much more pop appealing and dancy album, coming off the back of his most personal project to date. However, this project doesn't really sound like GNX, and forges it's own path forward, separately to Tyler's other work. The album is a mix of Hip Pop and dance pop, with ... read more

JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - SCARING THE HOES
88

Gonna finish this later

The best aspect of this album is it's incredible, boundary pushing production that defines the project, which, to he fair, is the focal point of the project. Danny and Peggy are just goated. The best song here is easily BURFICT!, and I'm not really sure there is a worst, as this project is really consistent.

Peggy is really a one of a kind producer, no one can make these wacky beats

The concept of being high should be credited on this album, or at least ... read more

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
90

I love the first nine tracks on this album, which are all incredible in their own ways. Unfortunately, I don’t really like what comes after (don’t get me wrong it still pretty good) , though Hell of a Life is great.

Best Song: Devil in a new dress
Favourite song: Dark fantasy
Worst song: Blame game
