Spiritbox - Soft Spine
49

This is a pretty by the numbers heavy Spiritbox song. It likely won't win you over if you aren't a fan of them.

Queen - We Will Rock You (Megan Thee Stallion Version)
9

Abysmal sampling like this might be the worst thing you can do as an artist

Ripped To Shreds - 孽鏡臺 (Visions Of Sin, Mirror Of Darkness)
89

A tightly performed, unpredictable track that slightly stretches the boundaries of death metal

Linkin Park - The Emptiness Machine
20

Linkin Park could definitely do better. I think Emily's voice fits the instrumentals very well, although the song didn't really start going until she came in. I think the lyrics could've been more complex and the song could've been less formulaic sonically. Here's hoping the album will be more identifiable than this single when it comes to rock radio.

Edit (60->20): I didn't know that Emily was a piece of sh*t. She shouldn't have been chosen to be the co ... read more

McKinley Dixon - Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!?
90

A short album that is able to deliver a powerful and lively listen through pleasant combinations of jazz and rap music

Maruja - Knocknarea
89

Maruja showcase some great performances on "Knocknarea." On the opening track "Thunder" the band showcases how they mastered the use of dynamics. I like how "The Tinker" slowly builds throughout its runtime to the point where the ending is very loud and cathartic. The album closer "Kakistocracy" ends in a way that makes you feel like you're in some haunting landscape.

I think that my biggest criticism with this project is that some moments and ... read more

Vomit Forth - Negative Penance
85

That was disgusting

Vomit Forth - Rotting Wool
89

I like how this track didn't have a linear structure and managed to do a lot with its length

Vomit Forth - Blood Soaked Death Dream
85

This is how you do death metal with added production to it. It's not overproduced to where it sounds synthetic yet it manages to make the instrumentals hit extra hard.

Ripped To Shreds - Force Fed
89

This is even more intense than their last single

Ripped To Shreds - Perverting the Funeral Rites, Stripping for the Dead
85

A good classic death metal sounding track with its raw production and speedy performances

will.i.am - T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)
0

The first 75% of this track is laughably bad, but when Mick Jagger comes in it is truly puzzling to why anyone thought releasing this song was a good idea

Nails - Every Bridge Burning
90

Nails still manage to make an album that sounds just as heavy, intense, strong performed, and even groovy as their other albums, while being far from a replica of those albums. Seriously one of the most consistent metal bands of all time.

85

A death album just as menacing as its cover and title. It's also paced to be as ruthless and unforgiving as possible. Definitely not for everyone, but a good starting album if you want to get into brutal death metal.

Better Lovers - Future Myopia
80

I'm pretty satisfied with this track. They did a really good job with the chaotic instrumentals on this track. The vocals in the chorus remind me of the vocals that would be in a song by The Dillinger Escape Plan. But it's not too similar as it was applied differently due to it being accompanied by a backup vocal harmony.

Fit For An Autopsy - Savior Of None / Ashes Of All
59

Instrumentally and structurally this is one of Fit For An Autopsy's best songs. Still didn't care for the clean vocals they had in it though.

Civerous - Maze Envy
79

I think the best way to describe this album is that it's like a jawbreaker. It has multiple different layers to it and it's not easy to consume. While "Maze Envy" is primarily doom metal, it also has a lot of other elements from other metal genres like death metal and progressive metal incorporated into it. It's a great metal release to check out and I have a feeling that Civerous will be able to top this album in the future.

Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk
90

I usually don't lose my mind to pop albums, but this album was giving me constant eargasms as I was trying to give it a proper review.

Magdalena Bay on "Imaginal Disk" have found a way to perfect their sound and pop music in general. They've managed to make the production on this album even more varied than on "Mercurial World." It can hit hard or be very soft, sometimes on the same song at the same time. The vocal performances from Mica are fantastic and have a ... read more

Melt-Banana - 3 + 5
85

Melt-Banana are back after an 11 year hiatus to show that they still are the leaders of creative and unstable noise rock. I found "3 + 5" to still be as notable as their past works and I think it goes even wilder and harder than on their past albums. The whole album is also distinctively composed to give the project some tracklist diversity. If you know and are prepared to receive what this album throws at you, then you will likely enjoy it.

Magdalena Bay - That's My Floor
95

The two things I don't like about this song:
1. the la la la's are a little goofy
2. the song ends

"The instrumentals accompany the lyrics more properly on dark sun than this album. Like the instrumentals in Pale Moonlight are so dumb because it has lyrics about someone (potentially Rory) 'dancing with the devil' to where it's harming them, and it sounds like a radio rock song meant to motivate people. Like shouldn't the song sound sad or at least off putting?"
On Dayseeker - Creature In The Black Night
"@PoisonBow I haven't listened to dark sun in a while, I don't like either album but I think it is better than creature in the black night because the lyrics and song meanings have a bit more effort into them. Like with Parallel about his father passing away, or with Paper Hearts about Rory sharing that he has been so overwhelmed by the weight of the world that he has a suicidal thought about dying in a car crash"

"@tn3t3ta How can you hate me so much, yet know nothing about me? I’ve given a lot of metalcore albums high ratings. I recently gave the new dying wish album, a metalcore band, a rating definitely higher than a 3/10. There’s nothing wrong with disagreeing with me, but don’t spread misinformation."

"@RemisReviews I don’t think I’ve ever said in my life that pop vocals make something bad. For the genre comment, it is my believe that these bands are more closer to pop than metal. A lot of their songs are just pop tunes featuring metal breakdowns and basic small elements of other genres."

On HomeSession3's review of Slaughter to Prevail - GRIZZLY
"a score of 50 being a "awful score" to me doesn't make any sense cause you're ignoring half of the numbers of quality you could be using to score an album (49 - 0). If you thought this album was worse than a 5/10 "middle of the road score" than you should rate it lower."
