It's incredibly rare for a pop song to make someone's jaw drop to the floor, but this song made mine drop more than once
This song is so catchy, stand out, well performed, and appropriately produced to the point where it's at least a near perfect pop track to me. It's in contention for my favorite Magdalena Bay song.
Todd In The Shadows has a really good quote from his worst 2016 songs video where he says that "talking about music is hard but sometimes the only thing to say is 'it's an ass song that sounds like ass.'" That's how I feel about this record, except it's good.
"Mercurial World" written by Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin, who go under the alias Magdalena Bay, is their debut full length album. I'd say it's an above average starting LP for ... read more
I was interested to listen to this album because I thought that the lead single "Grief's Eternal Wound" was very unique and had some genre blending that I hadn't experienced before. Unfortunately, something that I wish this album had more of was genre blending. After the first track it doesn't really appear again on the album. Despite that, this album features some solid goth rock from both Bleached Cross and True Faith. I do think Bleached Cross's songs are ... read more
I don't hate Post Malone. I like a couple of his songs and he's a nice guy in the music industry. I also don't hate him trying a new genre, I thought he was running out of creative ideas and uses with his pop rap and rock style, so a change in sound could be really creative to see what he would do with it. Kind of like what Beyoncé did with house music and country music, or what Bring Me The Horizon did with electro-pop music and alternative metal music.
However, instead ... read more
How to make one of the worst albums of all time:
Release around 64% of your album before it even fully releases.
Have your album opener sound like Tom MacDonald meets NF in the worst way possible.
Have the title track that the whole theme of the album revolves around be released around five years before the release of the album making it seem you took too long to write music for the project.
Include transgender individuals in one of your music videos so you can use them as a defense against ... read more
I've experienced black midi a few times in the past. However, I didn't really care for them cause I wasn't that into experimental rock and I found the vocals to be slightly off putting. I decided to give them a second chance and listened to their full debut album.
I ended up really liking this album and found it to have a pretty unique identity and able to separate itself from the ever increasing sea of rock albums. The opening track "953" starts very chaotically with ... read more
I randomly had to urge to listen to this album because I liked the album cover and I wanted to really enjoy a pop rock album that I would also find groundbreaking and not simple or repetitive. I'm happy that I ended up really enjoying this album.
"Get To Heaven" by Everything Everything is a really great progressive pop and experimental rock album that manages to leave an impression on its listener. For multiple reasons, like the song meanings, the production, the catchy chorus ... read more
I genuinely want to know what people see in this band, cause this isn't revolutionary metalcore
Kinda just sounds like a too simplistic, weak, and half-baked song trying to emulate other big pop artists at the moment
This song makes me feel like I'm riding down a highway with a biker gang. Sounds like it would flow very well on the album it's on.
This track is basically Kendrick dancing on top of Drake's grave while insulting him some more
While it doesn't quite reach the highs of their previous album "Snakes For The Divine," High On Fire still manage to create a consistent, well produced and strongly performed album experience on "De Vermis Mysteriis"
You know, I always forget why people love artists beefing so much and then I realize it's one of the only situations where songs as intricately brutal as this one get made and spread across the whole world
To be honest, this album is such a bold and abrasive take on hardcore punk that it took me a few tries to get and love it.
"Diaspora Problems" by Soul Glo is a very distinct album as it blends punk, metal, and even screamo vocals with rap music. One of the more unique tracks of the album, "Driponomics" is a straight-up experimental hip hop song that features rapper Mother Maryrose and doesn't have any guitar or drum playing in it. The album closer "Spiritual ... read more
