Even if you ignore the fact that this woman empowerment song was written and produced by the guy who abused Kesha, it sounds like it was made 10 years ago
After listening to the singles for "The Promise of Rain," I was somewhat excited for it considering it teased a combination of avant garde and atmospheric black metal that I haven't quite heard before. For me, I was mostly satisfied with this album.
I think the star of the album has to be the guitars, which will offer some harmonies that make the album sound fuller. I also love the moments on this album where the guitars sounds like multiple car alarms going off at the same ... read more
Speed on their debut album deliver a pumpling punk project that even adds occasional singing moments to the album without sacrificing what makes it punchy. I found that this album doesn't have the issue of sounding too repetitive as the album length is on the shorter side. Additionally, vocal switch ups (clean and unclean), breakdown changes, and group chemistry do enough to keep the listeners attention. I believe "Only One Mode" is more memorable and hits harder than their last ... read more
This song is pretty meh by Show Me The Body standards. The song felt like it was missing some direction sonically as the heavy instrumentals at the start of the track suddenly drop out and are replaced with less interesting electronic parts.
Courting on their sophomore LP "New Last Name" made me dissatisfied. Its messy mixing, overused autotune, basic instrumental and lyrical work left this project sounding like a worse version than a "The 1975" album. Which was bad for me considering I hate "The 1975."
I don't like it when bands/artists release the closer for their new album as a single because it reminds me of a cheesy action movie trailer where they show quick scenes of the climax fight of the movie. However, I am satisfied with this song knowing that this is how the new Scarcity album will end. For me, the song feels a little repetitive at start, but the song really picks up especially near the end. I think ending the record with those ghostly noises is a good idea.
A contender for both the best rock album and the best pop album of the year. This album is so consistently strong with its beautiful vocal performances, lyrical themes, and simple but properly used instrumentals. I don't have much more to say other than listen to it.
Redux review: I keep coming back to this record. The way they use electronics don't interfere with the heavy moments of this album at all and often given the tracks more relisten ability. After listening more, I think the lack of song structures helps the songs stand out more instead of what I thought was the tracks sounding too similar to each other. The fact that this is their debut album makes me truly think this band could make the next metalcore classic.

I have had a small amount of exposure to Imminence before "The Black,” and I can't say that I have really been blown away by them in the past. I would say they are a metalcore band that is mixed with those bands who are known for making easy to follow songs and combining both metal and other genres together in annoying ways that don't offer anything new. I will say though, that they seem like they're trying to stand out more by being both heavier, yet more melodic than ... read more
From what I've heard of Full of Hell, "Coagulated Bliss" is a standard and straightforward grindcore experience from them. Other than maybe a couple moments on some tracks that were somewhat different for the band, a lot of it sounded the same. Instrumentally, this album could've gone a lot harder.
First time listening to Ne Obliviscaris and I honestly feel underwhelmed by "Citadel." Yes this album features some good performances, but I find the longer songs on this album to be lacking in coherence as I think the transitions aren't as smooth as they can be. I also don't really care for the violin addition to most of these tracks. I think it works better when it was on its own like on "Wyrmholes," "Reveries from the Stained Glass Womb," and ... read more
This album was my first experience with Porter Robinson. While I initially loved it the first time a listened to it, after a few more relistens, I feel that "Worlds" can sound a little too straightforward and simple at times. The longer tracks feel a little bit stretched out. Porter definitely has a talent for making music as the hooks and production on this album are good and better than average EDM. Although, I think the songs could use more creativity and left hooks in the writing ... read more
Nothing bad or good about this song really stood out to me. The guitar riff throughout feels too standard and safe. The vocals aren't doing anything creative to help the track stand out as well. I think the production of the track is solid.
Thank you to @Misterpandaren for recommending this track to me.
