People were begging them to drop something and they released this song where the vocals sound like they were recorded on a Nintendo 3DS. Not to mention the lyrics and the concept of the song are terrible to begin with.
From what I've heard of Thou, I've found their work to be gradually getting better over the years and I truly believe "Umbilical" to be their best work that I have heard. I think this album works better than their other albums because of how they focus more on writing shorter songs with even more packed into them than their longer songs with less substance that cause them to drag. They have still stayed true to their sludge, doom, and drone metal roots despite the ... read more
I feel somewhat bad for reviewing this record because it wasn't made for me. The people it is made for are for the people who loved Bad Omens last album "THE DEATH OF PIECE OF MIND,” as this album is an extension to that album.
I never really liked Bad Omens. I find that they aren't interesting as a metalcore or alternative metal band and think that their pop elements are usually very simple and their metal elements all sound the same and don't stand out from the average pop ... read more
This features some of the best riffs I've heard all year. Not to mention Jami from Code Orange killed his feature and delivered vocals that gave the track even more aggression.
I got to see this live before I realized it was an actual song that was going to be on the new album. Loved the flute inclusion, didn't feel out of place.
This song sounds like you found a secret door in an old house that leads to a haunted nightclub and worried you're about to be killed by a pimp ghost.
This still sounds indifferent to their most recent work. Invent Animate needs to deviate from their easy to follow formula or I'll be more than bored for the next song they release.
A solid grindcore experience with a more clean production rather than a raw one. The vocals are more akin to screamo than grindcore. Other than the production and vocals it isn't that much different from grindcore but it isn't doing anything wrong. Would recommend it to fans of the genre.

This song seems to focus more on intensity and conflicting elements rather than making a cohesive metal song that has its own individual identity. Everything is overproduced and the vocals performance could be replaced with most deathcore vocalists and it wouldn't sound different. The ending also comes out of nowhere and doesn't mix with the track well at all.
A pretty unique black metal experience that even sounds different from the bands previous projects. No song on here is similar to each other and I think that makes for a good EP experience with variety. I want to hear where this band goes next on a future album cause it potentially could be even better than this.
This is genuine ass. The good parts of Gideon are gone and won't be coming back likely.
This is definitely a song where it's best to listen with your brain turned off. I don't think the metal instrumentals really help the lyrics, help the sound of the track, or make it stand out from Electric Callboy's other songs. Good on BABYMETAL for fitting into the band's sound well and being the best part of the track even though that sound is cheesy and like it's from the late 2000s/early 2010s EDM craze.
It is in my believe, that Clancy by Twenty One Pilots is a good album, maybe even a great album. This album isn't as consistent as Trench but I don't think it's too far from it. The production on this album is pretty good and I enjoy the genre switchups they do that don't come off as tacky most of the time. I was worried that the deeper cuts on this project would come off as too radio friendly to the point where their isn't much to analyze or differentiate from other ... read more
The metal community has been breathing down BMTH's neck for nearly four years now wanting to know how they're going to follow up survival horror as they've teased another three post human projects. I was someone who was really curious to hear this project as I believe “Post Human: Survival Horror” to be one of the best alternative metal projects of the decade and found Bring Me’s ability of combining melodic choruses and heavy guitar riffs and drum beats ... read more
This isn't really bad and this song has some nice guitar and piano moments, but I am disappointed on how standard this sounds. Sonically there needs to be more in this track to make it stand out from the rest of Twenty One Pilots catalogue. Maybe the Jenna's version will be more interesting on the album.
This album is bit less cohesive and a bit too stretched out compared to Job for a Cowboy's newest album, but it still features strong songs and even stronger performances that leave this project feeling massive.
