Thousand Below - Hell Finds You Everywhere
40

On "Hell Finds You Everywhere," it's not the worst attempt at blending pop with metalcore, it still falls short for me as it sounds generic and bland a majority of the time. A lot of the choruses sound the same and none of the lyrics are compelling or different from other genres, let alone metalcore. A lot of the songs follow the same structure as well.

Make Them Suffer - Epitaph
30

Make Them Suffer release a new djentcore single that sounds like it's inspired by popular deathcore artists like Lorna Shore and Brand of Sacrifice. I didn't find that the clean vocal chorus section mixed well with the deathcore verse vocals and over-compressed djent riffs. Yeah I'm sorry I didn't like this that much.

ERRA - CURE
20

This is ERRA's most generic and uninteresting album.

I would like to write a longer review than this but this album has nothing to bring to the table to talk about other than it feels like I've heard it before a bunch of times from other metalcore bands. I do have another comment though, and it's that "Slow Sour Bleed" is literally "we have HEALTH at home."

Alpha Wolf - Half Living Things
35

On "Half Living Things," Alpha Wolf delivers an experience that is weaker in every way compared to "A Quiet Place To Die."

"Bring Back The Noise" is fine as an opener to the album, but it features a lot of turntable scratching that doesn't add anything to the track and isn't featured on any other song on the album. It's also not instrumentally as hard as the title track opener for their last album. "Double-Edge Demise" really highlights how silly and ... read more

Better Lovers - The Flowering
55

Solid song, but something I think this band should try doing more would be to sound more different from an Every Time I Die and The Dillinger Escape Plan combo band. Not that it's bad to share those elements, but I feel like this song too many familiar parts from those two bands. Whether it be the Dillinger type clean vocals, or ETID riffs and breakdowns.

Graphic Nature - To The Grave
59

Their most basic track I've heard by them so far. This track really needed something unique that would've made it more memorable against their other tracks.

The Plot In You - Don't Look Away
35

I'm sorry I didn't care for this. It too repetitive and basic for me to like it. It sounds very similar to their other single "Forgotten." The breakdown is played up way too much so it feels underwhelming when it actually delivers.

Knocked Loose - Don't Reach For Me
100

I would say they don't miss but this track broke my jaw

Turnstile - Time & Space
79

On "Time and Space," Turnstile experiment their hardcore punk sound a little bit by adding elements of alternative rock to it, and it surprisingly works well a majority of the time. With repeated listens of this album, I think it would've been better with Turnstile switched it up more and maybe had a track that would be more non-hardcore punk focused. Another way would be to do the complete opposite and have a track that is extremely hardcore punk. Although the project does stand out, ... read more

TX2 - VENDETTA

"If I need to hear TX2 talk about goth dommy mommies one more time... I'll shoot myself."

Trippie Redd - genre : sadboy

music : generic, boring, uninspired

Full of Hell - Gasping Dust
69

It's a solid track but I wish the main groove of the song was less repetitive, especially when the track is around a minute long

Sum 41 - Heaven :x: Hell
59

It's ironic that they released this on the Friday before Easter Sunday. Sum 41 release a double album that is a Heaven and Hell concept. The 'Heaven' side of the album features 10 tracks that lean into pop punk, and the 'Hell' side features 10 tracks that are more closer to heavy metal anthems. I think I prefer the Hell side as most of the songs in Heaven sounded similar, even though they all had good or at least decent choruses. The tracks on the Hell side also had better performances, ... read more

Frail Body - Artificial Bouquet
90

I knew I was gonna like this Frail Body album, but damn this is amazing. I got a lot of emotion from this album's vocals and instrumentals, it all sounds so raw. This album features more range than typical screamo. It has genre range as it features drumming, vocals, and guitar riffs that are similar to blackgaze. This album plays with dynamics a lot as some tracks can either sound like a sad breakup/ending, or give the image of someone sprinting to the sun and starting to catch on fire. A lot ... read more

Boundaries - Death Is Little More
60

Boundaries are a band that I have loved for a couple years now, ever since I heard their 2020 debut album "Your Receding Warmth." Their sophomore album "Burying Brightness" was a more melodic direction and even featured some clean vocals. I thought that album was executed really well, was fairly unique for the genre, and it became one of my favorite metalcore albums of the 2020s so far. So do I think this album is just as good or better than Burying Brightness?

Well... yes ... read more

While She Sleeps - SELF HELL
9

While She Sleeps release an album that is filled with generic and messy ideas that aren't executed well.

I'm just gonna start listing songs and what I didn't like about them. The first track, "PEACE OF MIND," doesn't even have a proper transition into the next track. A lot of the drops on this album aren't very rewarding and can come across as anticlimactic, like the ending breakdown on "LEAVE ME ALONE." The title track has really goofy lyrics even ... read more

The Ghost Inside - Get What You Give
49

This is the first full album I've listened to by The Ghost Inside and I didn't hate it. If I had to describe what this album sounds like, it would be that it is heavily inspired by a lot of 2000s melodic metalcore like Parkway Drive mixed with some easycore like A Day To Remember. A lot of the vocal deliveries and breakdowns are very Parkway Drive on tracks like on the tracks "Slipping Away" and "The Great Unknown." On Engine 45 the ending clean chorus sounds inspired by ... read more

Scarcity - In the Basin of Alkaline Grief
90

Great black metal track at delivering a tense experience. At first I didn't like the guitar, but it fits the sound of the track and the other performances on this track support it through its 6 minutes.

twenty one pilots - Next Semester
99

I really enjoyed this one. This single is like their take on a garage rock song, and sounds like nothing they've really done before. The ending is also really nice and fits the closing of the track well. Makes me even more excited for the album to hear all the genre combinations and switchups.

Orthodox - The Other Side of the Nail
59

This single sounds like it's inspired by boundaries but it doesn't sound like a rip off or like a copycat, as it does something new with that style of sound. Some of the vocal deliveries sound a little off to me and don't work.

"The instrumentals accompany the lyrics more properly on dark sun than this album. Like the instrumentals in Pale Moonlight are so dumb because it has lyrics about someone (potentially Rory) 'dancing with the devil' to where it's harming them, and it sounds like a radio rock song meant to motivate people. Like shouldn't the song sound sad or at least off putting?"
On Dayseeker - Creature In The Black Night
"@PoisonBow I haven't listened to dark sun in a while, I don't like either album but I think it is better than creature in the black night because the lyrics and song meanings have a bit more effort into them. Like with Parallel about his father passing away, or with Paper Hearts about Rory sharing that he has been so overwhelmed by the weight of the world that he has a suicidal thought about dying in a car crash"

"@tn3t3ta How can you hate me so much, yet know nothing about me? I’ve given a lot of metalcore albums high ratings. I recently gave the new dying wish album, a metalcore band, a rating definitely higher than a 3/10. There’s nothing wrong with disagreeing with me, but don’t spread misinformation."

"@RemisReviews I don’t think I’ve ever said in my life that pop vocals make something bad. For the genre comment, it is my believe that these bands are more closer to pop than metal. A lot of their songs are just pop tunes featuring metal breakdowns and basic small elements of other genres."

"a score of 50 being a "awful score" to me doesn't make any sense cause you're ignoring half of the numbers of quality you could be using to score an album (49 - 0). If you thought this album was worse than a 5/10 "middle of the road score" than you should rate it lower."
