This might be my favorite foreign hands track that I've so far. Everything is so strongly performed and showcases some changing dynamics to give the track more life.
The vocals on this LP may be hard to listen to at some points but they work as screamo vocals. Instrumentally this album is great and creates a demented atmosphere that is unique for screamo. If you struggled to enjoy this, I recommend you check out their other album "The Gray In Between," as the vocals are less obnoxious, and the instrumentals are even heavier and more diverse.
I decided to check this project out since I keep seeing how beautiful everyone thinks it is, and yes I found it beautiful too. Sampha's vocal performance is so strong on every track. I especially love how he managed to make each song feel different with his singing, something that I find impressive about the project. If I had a critique, I feel that instrumentally Sampha could improve and make it a more captivating experience. Regardless, this is still worth listening to for the vocals alone.
What the hell is this? I haven't really heard any projects from the band Paledusk before. I was kinda intrigued when I heard the song "AREA PD," and felt like it was a different execution of a djent produced metalcore track. I decided that I would check a project by these guys when one would release, but this EP is not what I was hoping to hear.
I have a lot of problems with this project. A lot of the vocals, especially the clean vocals, sound like they're straining in order to try ... read more
This Simulakra EP goes so hard. It features ferocious riffs and vocals that how their own identity other bands and is not too long of a project.
This is my first time listening to the band Bloom. I think they should do more to stand out in the metalcore field. When I was listening to this album, I just kept thinking "oh this sounds like this band." It all sounds so heavily inspired to where the album isn't providing a new experience that you can't get from other metalcore bands. Check it out if you desperately want to listen to something that sounds like modern counterparts.
This album may be simple but this is really good mosh music with its strong riffs, well included features, and appropriate song lengths.
I don't know what I saw in this band when I first listened to their debut album "Love Language." I guess it was just a time where I hadn't heard alternative rock, hyperpop, rap, and djent mixed together so boldly. However, on this new EP, anything that made them stand out positively from the modern djentcore crowd is pretty much gone. On "Enter The Wall," we get overproduced djent riffs, annoying vocal melodies, terrible deep voice trap-like rapping, and basic electronic ... read more
I've always been a little mixed with this band and how they weave together technical drum parts, melodic riffs, and clean vocals. This is a pretty average track from what I've heard from them. I wish it had more to offer. If you like them, you'll like it.
Oh no, they tricked me by making me have hope with "Into The Flowers." On this single, WSS go for another swing at adding nu metal to their melodic metalcore sound and I don't think they pull it off well. You can tell that they're going for a Linkin Park sound, but it instead sounds like a less interesting and more forced "I Prevail" track. The chorus is bad and on the same level as the chorus on "SELF HELL." Some parts of the phrasing in the rapping in the bridge ... read more
A contender for the heaviest boundaries single and I'm amazed at how they made those clean vocals not feel out of place. Excited for the album next Friday.
This doesn't fit well as a single. I'm not really a fan of ballads with effects added to the vocals that take away some of the human element for me. It also really needed to pick up or switch up in order to be more creative and less boring.
Another compelling single blending screamo and blackgaze together from Frail Body.
OMG it's not bad like all of the other singles for the upcoming album and instead it's just a by the books modern djentcore track LETS GOOO
The vocals on this song were my favorite part and had some power behind them. Instrumentally the song could've been less simple and more unique. Maybe the ending beat payoff could've arrived a little earlier in the song and could've been a little bit bigger. Even though I didn't love this, there is definitely potential for something really good.
This was made by @hiderpnw who asked me to review it. Please check out their other material.
Better than Viper Room, but I'm sorry to those who were hoping I would get horny over this song, cause I have some problems with it. To me, this track borrows way too much from Deftones to the point where it becomes annoying with the vocal delivery and highly compressed djent riffs. Also I've definitely heard these lyrics from them before and they were much more unique and interesting.
I found this to be less captivating than their last single. As much as I like the mixing and the vocal performance, the instrumentals sound a little unfinished songwriting-wise.
I guess this is the best single for ERRA's upcoming album but it's still a safe djent-core song even by ERRA standards.
