Despite this album essentially being a pretty standard mix of 2010s melodic metalcore album, it has some good moments on it. A lot of the riffs and breakdowns on this album go harder than their contemporaries like with the chugging guitars on "Stitch," and the crushing breakdowns on the title track. The biggest issue I have with this record it's usage of clean vocals. They mostly come across as more melodramatic than emotional like on tracks like "Gravity" or ... read more
I've heard a lot of great things about "Black Country, New Road," so I eventually was convinced to listen to this album. Not surprisingly, I wasn't disappointed and fell in love with it pretty quickly.
The album opener "Instrumental" hooks you in with its fun jazz grooves and holds your attention by exponentially growing throughout its runtime. Maybe the track could've gone even further with its length or been shortened a little bit, but I still think ... read more
Can someone please explain to me why the beat and rap flows on this song are so good?
One of the rare times where a metal band has released a more catchy and more easy to follow album that stayed as brutal as their previous albums. The ending track being so long and made to be 'epic' also helps the album stay in your mind more easily.
This song shares a lot of similarities with the NF song "HOPE" as in it is the opener and title track to the new album, it involves rapping, and it's a statement from the artist saying, "Look at me, I'm not like the others, I'm unique and no one can stop me!" Except the difference is the NF song ends with a wannabe Eminem rap section, and the HARDY song ends with a weak metal riff that couldn't even push over someone on crutches.
This is the second full project that I have listened to by Loathe and the album that has been praised the most by them. To be honest, I only have a small amount of enjoyment from this album as I think Loathe can be more diverse and unique with their sound. In terms of breakdowns, I think they would benefit with less repetitive breakdowns and more switchups that make them continue to hit after the first beat that they drop. A song that I have a problem with “Screaming” has this ... read more
The guitar and drum playing on this album can be really good, but the vocals, lyrics, and songs themselves make it feel like a copycat or weaker version of the late 2000s/early 2010s Parkway Drive albums.
It's nice to hear Nails still making solid grindcore music for the first time this decade
Going into this album, I was hoping that this album would be at least as good as Turnstile's other material. It turns out this album is my favorite Turnstile album. This might be one of the most fun albums I've ever listened to. I also find it provides a well made, unique punk experience where each song has its own individual identity. Honestly, the biggest criticism I have is that I'm worried about their next project focusing too much on the non punk elements to the point where they lose the ... read more
This album on paper shouldn't work but the members of Zeal & Ardor find multiple ways to bring multiple contrasting elements from different genres together to make a working album. It features genre mashups of black metal, alternative metal, avant garde metal, and gospel music that on their own individual quality to them that's special. I also really like the electronic tracks on the album that sound like they're inspired by early "The Legend of Zelda" music. If I ... read more
Good to see she doesn't discriminate by targeting everyone's sexual orientation. Lowkey might be my favorite song by her.
This album is called "Timeless" because Meghan Trainor can release an album any year and it would be considered bad.
Darko are a band that I have some past experience with. I may have never found them groundbreaking and have some issues with them like their lyrics, yet I've never really despised anything they've done, until now. What I found at least admirable from this band was the fact that they were less repetitive compared to the sea of bands sounding the same to the point where the deathcore genre has become an ant death spiral of the same song writings and executions. So it was nice to hear deathcore ... read more
Old Town Road at home (feat. HARDY):
Edit: guys I’m so sorry, I didn’t actually think he would collab with HARDY
I was interested to see how this would sound with Jordan Fish producing it but I am pretty let down by this. It's a stereotypical, basically radio rock, metalcore song, that doesn't have any outstanding vocals or instrumentals to save it. I found her song V.A.N. with Bad Omens to somehow be more unique and enjoyable than this.
Drake could've just lied and said it was AI, instead he made it a certified audiofile
This album was my first experience with Quadeca and I wanted to check this album out even though it isn't as hyped up as his later projects. If I had to summarize my thoughts on this album in a nutshell, it would be this is a well made album that features both unique moments and moments where Quadeca sounds like every other white rapper that wants to be the next Eminem.
When Quadeca is bringing his A game to the album, it has some genuinely beautiful moments. Specifically with a lot of the ... read more
