1969 self titled album by the texan Bob Dylan is a songwriting masterpiece. Townes Van Zandt wasn’t even happy with most of the album which is crazy to me. These beautiful handpicked acoustic songs with very relaxing insturmentals that still keep that outlaw country sound are pretty awesome. Might be boring to some people, not sure, but the story telling is amazing and that’s what this albums really built on.
really didn’t want to review this cause it’s at 420 reviews, but i spent time on it so i gotta. I mean my goodness sturg, how is a psychedelic country rock album with even some hymn influence sound so damn good. Country music needs to be taking notes on how to experiment cause he’s doing it all right, and keeps continuing to do this today with his disco country rock album. Amazing voice, solid guitar work, solid songwriting, amazing insturmentals. And then you’ve got ... read more
For an album produced by Madlib and The Alchemist, this should’ve been a whole lot more than it was. I really enjoyed this album but it lacks a lot of substance for the most part. Madlib still does his part and definitely got some really good beats on here, but none memorable or catchy at all, so it can get boring. I also feel like the mixing could’ve been better on the drums. Hooks seemed pretty weak as well. Rapping was great thorough. The 3rd verse and the song of ... read more
Similarly to TLOP - Ye, Chance gives us a gospel record with a lot of cussing and drugs. Coloring Book is filled with a lot of really great features, Jay Electronica, Saba, T-Pain, Ye, etc. there’s a lot of really good ones. Some really awesome production and a lot of gospel influence throughout that even adding kirk franklin as a feature. Honestly wish there was more Ye features cause he would’ve really fit on several songs. Angels is just one of those timeless bangers as well. ... read more
It’s been 9 months since this album came out. And i still remember the night i listened to this album. I think this is gonna be a hella nostalgic album for me, I got a lot of memories around this one already. This album is soooo close to perfection, I want to give it a 10/10 so bad. No skips. Great feature list. Great Production. PHENOMENAL rapping and rhyme schemes, it’s crazy. I’m coming back to this album sooo much and it doesn’t ever get boring.
The coke rap bible album right here. I love this so much. unfortunately the only thing bringing it down is “Hard Piano” and “Infrared”. The Rick Ross feature to me did not feel like a good fit and still not a crazy fan of the beat, and infrared is just boring. Neither songs are bad by any means, i mean push and rick ross are both spitting, but the production could’ve been better in comparison to the other tracks on the album.
At times, the album feels a little unfinished almost. Mixing just doesn’t seem right to me on a lot of the features. Ye did not show out like expected very much, but the same definitely could not be said for jay-z. WILD verse from hova. Production was alright but sometimes just boring, and a little unmemorable. “Let the Smokers Shine the Coupe” definitely the best song along with “Diet Coke”.
Hated this album for a good while, but decided to come back and listen. Really cool concept to the album and an interesting vibe. Productions amazing. I do feel like the last 3 tracks can definitely get boring, but despite that, not many critiques.
snoop you gotta give it up bro. dudes barely even trying and barely even rapping half the time. Really, nothing memorable except a couple of decent beats and some corny ass lyrics.
Shotgun Willie is a perfect representation of outlaw country. Willie’s songwriting, raw emotion, and vocals is perfect. Very authentic album with only 1-2 skips in my opinion. This is a must hear album, one of Willie’s best.
Favorite Songs: Shotgun Willie, Whiskey River, Local Memory
Least Favorite Songs: A Song For You, You Look Like the Devil
Waylon & Willie the outlaw country collab album between two of the greatest to ever in country music likely has a lot of people’s expectations really high going into it. I’ve had to let the album grow on me so i really like it but the majority of people feel let down considering who it’s made by. The chemistry between these two is absolutely amazing though. Both of their voices complement each other perfectly and it makes for some really nice songs. But consistency and ... read more
Get the Knack is soooo damn underated, minus my sharona of course. This 70s rock/power pop is such a fun listen. Hard to make a better summer album. Very catchy with a lot of memorable hooks and songs. I really mess with this album.
Favorite Songs: (She’s So) Selfish, Maybe Tonight, Good Girls Don’t, My Sharona, Your Number or Your Name
Least Favorite Songs: Lucinda, Oh Tara
The Gambler is a so called “classic” country album with strong storytelling. My favorites were “The Gambler”, “Making Music For Money”, “The Hoodin’ of Miss Fannie DeBerry” and “Morgana Jones” all songs with great storytelling and very catchy and fun. But songs like “I Wish That I Could Hurt that Way Again” and “King of Oak Street” really bring it down for me. Very boring and not at all memorable in my ... read more
Age of the Ram, the finale to the Sagebrush Trilogy feels like we’re seeing Charley at his peak. Vocally, he’s better than he’s ever been, songwriting/songwriting is miles ahead of what it used to be just a couple years ago, and just the creativeness of putting together an album like this is showing how much he’s improved in every aspect. But the execution is lacking, after clovis i’ve come to my senses that this is not at all the best charley could do. I really ... read more
The 1967 Jimi Hendrix classic “Are You Experience?” is absolutely a defining album of psychedelic rock. I truly don’t think even the craziest acid trip could create a better guitarist than Jimi. Not much to say on this, but it’s just perfect and one hell of an experience.
Willy and the Poor boys is an American classic. CCR mixes raw street corner sounds with a bluesy electric southern rock sound. This album and CCR as a whole in my opinion perfected the southern rock sound. The album is written during and about the Vietnam war which just makes it such a legendary and cool album. The fantastic storytelling and songwriting about their street corner band to politics and war is amazing. Foggerty is such an under appreciated songwriter and guitarist, he really is one ... read more
The inventors of metals second album is most definitely one of the greatest metal albums ever created. The opening track “War Pigs” is a almost 8 min track that is just so good you can play it a thousand times and it seems like a 3 min track because of just how amazing the song is. In my opinion it’s one of the greatest songs ever. Paranoid releases on the day Jimi Hendrix passed away, seems like no coincidence. Perfect song writing, perfect vocals from the legendary Ozzy ... read more
YZY SZN APPROACHIN’
This album is wild. It’s aggressive and Ye matches it in his raps. He talks about themes like racism, power, and just some ye shit. Another album that feels like a middle finger to rap norms. The production is also out of this world.
MBDTF is most definitely one of the most creative hip hop albums ever created. Kanye has several songs with rock influences. Kanye gives us another stacked feature list with pusha t, rick ross, jay-z, and even bon iver, and several more great features. Another album that has changed hip hop forever. MBDTF is a cinematic experience. The orchestral production mixed with soul samples and rock influences makes it so unique. I just do not like kanye’s vocal mixing on gorgeous on his verses.
I really don’t like this album. Non existent skill in rapping, mixing, even some producing. Album is not at all put together well. Why did yall ask for this.. Ye gives us a gospel, hip hop, trap, electronic vibe album. Second album in the Donda “trilogy” if that’s what you consider it to be. Not sure how a single song on the album has to do with paying homage to his mother at all. Now there’s still tracks like “True Love” “Pablo” ... read more
