I’m gonna completely ignore FX for the sake of the review because i really like this album, and want to give it as good as a score as possible. so let’s pretend FX was never on the album. First off, my favorite song “Supernaut” has the most fire ass riff dude, i wish that was the intro track, but a 7+ minute song also works well. But vocals on that song are exquisite and again that riff gets me goin. I feel like after Ozzy’s death, “Changes” just hits ... read more
I think this one’s a little overrated, not as put together as most of their albums are, “Into The Void” is still one of my favorite Black Sabbath songs and “After Forever” has some really good songwriting, but i think songs like “Solitude” and “Children of the Grave” hold the album score back. Still by no means a bad album it’s just not comparable to their other first few LPs and a few after this one.
music like this being released in 1970 is kinda mind blowing, the dark and eerie storytelling really gets you thinking of the meanings of whatever ozzy has to say, and it feels so deep, like something we don’t know and that’s pretty damn weird. great experience, sooo close to perfect, just that first song holds it back. Because this album literally created metal, i’m gonna give it 3 extra points to make it perfect because how could i not, this is such an important piece of ... read more
i’ve got nothing bad to say about this album, just two legends going at it for a damn long time. taking inspiration from people like jimi hendrix and of course srv being on it puts a big electric blues spin on it which is just so good. blues just does somthin to your soul man. it’s been my favorite blues album for a good while. srv is definitely my goat guitarist. these two dudes got so much soul, and my goodness bringing them together for a live session in my opinion just puts ... read more
nicely written and well performed album, you can tell Farley poured his heart into this one. very consistent tracklist, he’s got a nice voice, and the insturmentals feel very raw and live. It feels like a soundtrack for a country backroads drive, pretty cool album.
I don’t understand the love for this album at all, there was a single track that stood out to me which was “CALAMITAN” but besides that, every other song was very mediocre and some even just bad. Very sleepy rapping, and i get that’s the point of this genre, but i just can’t listen to a beat that is a 2 second sample looped over and over for 3 minutes with the same sleepy ass flow the whole time. The production isn’t even good either, and very weak delivery ... read more
Pretty forgettable, boring, but i do feel like it could definitely grow on me. Production isn’t really crazy, some tracks are, but weak hooks and solid rapping. I do really like “Stacy Adam’s” the sample reminds me of Late Registration.
Rapping is decent, it doesn’t really standout for the most part, but i think “Vanity” has fantastic production and rapping, definitely my favorite off the album, been playing it all day. Production is really impressive on almost every track, so far one of my favorite albums this year.
I see a lot of potential in this guy, i mean this project was from 5 years ago and he still hasn’t met that potential i thought he’d have today, but who knows. As a producer i’ve worked with several of these samples somehow, and i think that kinda ruined it a little for me. But still a solid album not anything crazy but definitely some really well produced tracks.
pretty boring, prod can be really good, but this dude sleepy as a mf, and a earl sweatshirt clone.
Luke took the “don’t fix it if it ain’t broken” approach to his self titled debut album giving a good bunch of classic country tunes in a time where country did not have damn near any of that at all at that time. It definitely got a decent amount of recognition as it should, but my only critique is just the quality. I’m sure he did not have much money to record this album, and i’m sure he made the best with that money, but it’s still a critique. ... read more
Like Western Swings and Waltzes and Other Punchy Songs, this record lacks that consistency again. More amazing highlights like 1800 Miles, It’s Getting So, The Longer You Hold on, Back To Me, Like the Hills, and Summer wages, but for the most part, the rest is very bland and nothing new. It’s still a miracle to be getting this classic sounding country music now so i’m not complaining, but it just ain’t nothin special and it’s very bland. Songwriting isn’t as ... read more
About half of this album has some of Colters best songs, and others feel like they were recorded in his living room. I believe this is a cover album completely and he definitely did an amazing song cover Marty Robbin’s “Big Iron” and i believe it was Elton Brand who originally released “Cowpoke” those songs both got some pretty significant recognition outside of his fan base. But overall, it’s just inconsistent, could’ve been a really fantastic album, ... read more
This guys really a one of a kind, i doubt we’re ever gonna get another artist like Colter. The songwriting is perfect, the handpicked guitar insturmentals are perfect, the voice is perfect, the songs he sing are true, he really does live the cowboy lifestyle, we just don’t see authenticity like this in country music ever today. Every song on here’s amazing, really a fan of these cowboy songs.
Colter Wall, probably the greatest voice in country music gives us a record with a whole bunch of classic cowboy tunes and some very catchy ones as well. Very, very solid record, just not anything crazy. Still every song is a great song and very nicely written.
Colters one of my favorite artists of all time, but i’m not a huge fan of this one. I think it’s very overrated, specifically “Sleeping On The Black Top” it’s not his fault, but every single time i hear ai generated country music, it sounds just like that song, i used to love the song but recently ive really started to not like this album. The storytelling is still fantastic and all, but it’s just not all that like people made the album sound back when he ... read more
Townes Van Zandt got plenty of fantastic albums, but man this one’s amazing. As always, the songwriting really couldn’t be any better, this one’s a very personal and emotional album that still keeps that amazing story telling he does so well. I had to let it grow on me, but it’s such an amazing album and outlaw country don’t get any better than this.
