Foo Fighters - Your Favorite Toy
63

yeah, this one’s not it, i thought it’d be good hearing the first two tracks, but it went downhill pretty quickly real bad. this album is loud as shit, i’ve never been a fan of the really distorted vocals in rock at all, and they did far too much of that for my liking, and it didn’t help they were screaming most of the time, it’s just not a sound that pleases the ears. this album was not really impressive and it did not at all stick out to me.

William Alexander - Along The Boundary Line
95

man this is awesome, finding a new traditional cowboy singer always puts a smile on my face, and come to find out this morning, he’s Australian?! Alexander really nailed that classic feeling into his sound and aesthetic and mixed it with great story telling, very similarly to colter wall. I’m calling this guys going be a lot better soon and will get very big, he just needs to find his sound in some spots of his music cause he’s got a great voice, just some spots sound off ... read more

Al Campbell - Freedom Street
85

thought this was a new release cause apple said it was, but spotify says otherwise so i guess not. but anyways, this album really good, very enjoyable and i enjoyed each second of the six minute reggae tracks.

Billy Joel - The Stranger
98

gosh this album is sooo close to perfection. you’ve got several hits, strong vocal performances, songwriting, and instrumentals. it doesn’t lack anything besides “Just the Way You Are”, still a great song, but it’s not perfect like every other song is. billy joel is one hell of a talented artist, one of the most talented in fact.

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
100

pink floyd always blows me away with their ability to make music the ways they do and the creativity they never lose. pink floyd is perfection, and it’s a different level of perfection than a lot of other perfect albums can achieve.

John Prine - John Prine
100

i know i talk about songwriting for just about every album, but damn this album is unbelievable. this is why i think john prine is the greatest song writer ever. he just perfects it in every song and it’s crazy to think how easily he makes it seem and how every line blows me away. this should be a perfect album, and i really wish it was, but not every song is one to remember and not ones i would necessarily play again, they’re all great songs, but some are a little boring and ... read more

John Denver - Poems, Prayers & Promises
82

i think anyone who likes this album gets some nostalgia from it, john denver makes music everybody can relate to. his voice is one of the best i’ve ever heard as well.

Baby Keem - Ca$ino
65

i feel like keem is bringing not a singular new thing to the table, tracks like “ca$ino” or “house money” sound the same as the songs he was releasing in 2018. you can’t disappear for 4 years and come back to drop the most basic album. production definitely wasn’t special or even really that good. some decent rapping performances but still not usually the best. i feel like he also completely stole andre 3k’s sound on “i am not a lyricist” ... read more

Hank Williams - Hank Williams Sings
75

i agree with my fellow nathan here, it’s definitely difficult to rate a song from 75 years ago “correctly” it’s tough deciding on that. but besides that, per usual, hank still producing classics on his i assume first record, not sure completely on that, but it’s marked that way on streaming. i’m a big fan of hank hymns

Hank Williams - Moanin' the Blues
82

just the same good ol hank, nothing bad about it just a bunch of classics and songs you can’t go wrong with.

Hank Williams - Honky-Tonkin'
88

not sure if it’s a hot take to be rating music this old this high, but this is fantastic. hank really was pumping out classics like it was nothing, almost every song on here is a hit. very very catchy songs, my only problem with hank is that all his songs got similar arrangements and hooks to another one of his songs, but that does make his music very recognizable and catchy.

Gram Parsons - GP
82

i can’t tell if i think parsons voice fits that classic country sound or not. same thing with emmy lou’s backing vocals, im not sure if im really a big fan. now, there are some songs ive loved for a while on this record like, “cry one more time” and “she” but i think i would prefer if he stuck to those kinds of sounds. i still think that the songs sound great, they just aren’t nothing special, very recycled sound and im not sure i like that pop/rock ... read more

Guy Clark - Old No. 1
90

very nicely written, sang, and overall put together record. reminds me of john prine with a little bit of an outlaw spin on it.

Hairy Chapter - Can't Get Through
80

this album was pretty cool, but lacking a few things, the vocals for me were not really hitting, the quality overall wasn’t the best, and the guitarist wasn’t very consistent. sometimes that guitarist was phenomenal but sometimes it just wasn’t it. pretty cool psychedelic rock though, i like this genre a lot

Marty Robbins - Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs
100

this is THE greatest storytelling and songwriting country album ever made, marty’s voice is also one of the best in country music. country was made for story’s like these.

Garth Brooks - In Pieces
85

lots of really fun songs on this one, several of my favorites too. “Kickin’ and Screamin” and “Ain’t Goin Down” are so fire. Garth’s so talented man. unfortunately, you’ve gotta have physical media, or amazon music, which nobody uses to listen to garth. but lucky me i got most of his vinyls from his prime. always come back to his stuff quite often, garth was running shit back in the 90s and it’s not suprising at all.

Garth Brooks - No Fences
83

garth brooks brought a lot of really good songwriting and creativeness to country when it sorta lacked that, not saying 90s country is bad by any means, it’s amazing, but it wasn’t the same as it used to be in terms of storytelling/songwriting stuff like that. Garth’s definitely one of the best in the 90s. And 2 absolute country classics on one record? wild.

Isaiah Rashad - IT'S BEEN AWFUL
66

yeah this is boring, like really boring. this albums already overrated. producing is very bland, his rapping isn’t bad, but nowhere near what he is capable of, and i don’t like the vocals on many of the songs, it doesn’t sound very good. i’ve been seeing a lot of “this is his best project yet” no, not even close, i don’t know why but this album is just not clicking for me at all. it’s really not a bad album, it’s just in the middle of ... read more

Flatland Cavalry - Work of Heart
60

never really been a flatland cavalry fan, and not really much of a fan of this one either. nothing sticks out to me and it all sounds the same. it’s a very boring sound they haven’t changed in like 10 years, they’ve gotta do a little somthing different.

Paul Cauthen - Book of Paul
15

this dude wants to be a johnny cash or waylon jennings so bad, i just cannot stand his voice at all, it sounds beyond forced. i don’t like anything about it, it’s so stupidly inauthentic, and it just sucks in general. it’s just so corny and it’s especially worse when this dude is in his 40s and sounds so serious singing these songs. he’s one of those guys you hear on the radio and you instantly go “oh jeez” and turn it off. i really hope some big name ... read more
