issa dreamy chill vibe
(this thing packs warmth! it's smooth, soothing, warm, etc etc. though unfortunately the lyrics doesn't have the same impact as its production; verbose and redundant imagery, just like my reviews! honestly, get into this if you just wanna vibe along cause these 53 minutes were a delight!)
ok computress
(this could may have been conceived from an era of holographic a.i and flying cars. from what i could make out from the lyrics, this thing is about an infatuated, self-aware program and damn did the artifial-esque vocals deliver that idea well! though i do have some problems with this thing, only 2 though. firstly, some parts for me sound a bit pretentious - probably my bad since i can't help but compare the art cover to melanie martinez. secondly, the compression hurts my ears! ... read more
for 34 minutes, i was somewhere else
(eerie, strange, alienating with a tweak of nostalgia. unearthly while simultaneously belonging to our world; our mind.
the sounds here, they sound fresh as if it's never been made with any instruments before; yet it also sounds... familiar. has the sounds here really been played before? or were these derived from somewhere/something in our memories?
familiarity and the uneasiness of the unknown, a great combination for perpetuating desolation despite ... read more
hm... not what i expected. very short, felt incomplete. really damn good high points though (my introduction to mitski! she kidjna look like bajork)
....... i need to relisten to the whole album again
(unlike the other long experiences in the trilogy where it focused more on to dishevel the mind, this thing's motive was the transcend the whole body. THEY MANAGED TO GET MY WHOLE FUCKING BODY INVOLVED IN THIS!
spoiler alert i think:
as im writing this review i am at school (free time no worries) and on the way here, i decided to relisten to the title track of the glowing man after the discontent i felt yesterday on the whole album... what a ... read more
frankie why
(this thing feels like some sort of way to perpetuate what it's like to really ascend and become... the glowing man! the first disc felt incomplete in some way. it had the blueprints to create the perfect songs to transcend the listener, but it didn't do so (well it sort of did on some parts but for swans standards? pretty inadequate). some sort of test of patience to see whether one will remain through the whole thing.
the second disc? you have persevered. and in return; Frankie, ... read more
this takes massive muscles if i'm willing to revisit this thing (or... you know... just listen to it during day...
anyways probably my first time being so genuinely terrified at music that i had to instinctively twist my head back to assure me that there is nobody here but the door to the bathroom. i literally couldn't close my eyes to immerse myself fully on some parts because... well yeah... i was too terrified to. i didn't find 'girl with basket of fruit' to be terrifying, instead the ... read more
what a confusing and hellish journey this thing was. no words... really... no words... except riveting and terrifying for some reason (i dont know if it was a good idea introducing myself to these guys with this, this is something else no album can replicate the feeling of uncertainty... probably need a relisten)

goodness even the guitars sound depressed [happy 100th review!]
(dreamy melancholy front to back.... that's.. all i can really say about this. nothin really life changing or music perception altering experience or yadi yadi yada (definitely the stuffs i'd expect from an album with a 90 user score), but 'when you sleep' and 'i only said'... those are the exceptions, they are TRANSCENDING! can't really say the same to the rest of the tracks since it leaves me... pretty bored to be honest. the ... read more
yeah this was the rawness i was anticipating on no love deep webb. even if i scream my soul out of my mouth i dont think it would be enough to match the raw, unhinged, stimulating, cacophonies this thing delivers. (the second half made me light headed. i think i just had a conscious fever dream listening to that half)
i have a feeling every member is a multi-instrumentalist maniac (I GET ... read more
yknow... the artist who made the Thom and Ice Spice art might just be a visionary
fun/funny/serious/depressing, overall, really enjoyable.
(these 53 minutes flew by FAST. i really had a blast with this album; the production wasn't as incredible as atrocity exhibition, but they did a damn good job conceiving a unique and really fun experience. oh yeah Danny's voice is more comprehensible here as to his... you already know album.)
