John Coltrane - A Love Supreme
NR

i'm equally impressed as much as i'm confused... still not quite my tempo

(introduction to jazz! i've been cleansed, slightly overwhelmed... and really confused)

Elliott Smith - Either/Or
NR

...i've been absolutely charmed, wow!

Swans - Filth
NR

FLESH! ... ON! ... MUSCLES!

(surprisingly hypnotic! oh yeah and of course, very heavy!)

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven!
NR

Godspeed...

(and here i wondered what made me love music to begin with... well here it is!)

Big Baller B - Jessica
NR

unironically, one of the best deliberately botched music i've ever heard

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
NR

I, too, would love to have some sort of time machine to save you and the others; You were teeming with optimism, determination, wisdom, and innocence. I felt your loneliness, isolation, anxiety, your need to love, as if you were beside me; yet we've never had a proper farewell before your ashes flew over the aeroplane over the seas, Anne.

(her diary continues to be one of the most comforting, melancholic, and impactful documentaries ever conceived. the fact that somebody (or a band) managed to ... read more

N3on - Curry Freestyle
NR

i have drive like a car

Stygian Hollow - 1979
NR

gotta say... pretty sweet!

Floating Points - Birth4000
NR

goodness is this crispy

Slint - Spiderland
NR

hm.. will relisten when i'm not as tired as i am now (pretty underwhelming, even fell asleep at 'for dinner...' but 'good morning, captain' opened my eyes! ...no pun intended)

(82>90): atmosphere; superb. the thing is... it's very soft and quiet. almost impossible to stay awake when fatigued. even the abrasive moments i find really soft, while simultaneously being really rough. can see why it's a genre shifter, this is very impressive

(90>98): maybe ... read more

The Microphones - It Was Hot, We Stayed in the Water
NR

(spoilers... i think) but that's how it ends? (edit: woops i forgot to put my opinion here, yeah it's just like the 2 albums that came after this - it's very charming, alluring, and meditative in some way. it's homey, friendly and reminiscent of what made life so satisfying to begin with. honestly i could go on for a long time describing the feeling this thing exhibits but the main thing is that it's very comforting; as usual for the microphones. once again, thank you Phil!)

JPEGMAFIA - LP! (Offline Version)
NR

RAW! STRAIGHT! 🔥🔥 (And still undefeated: JPEGMAFIA!)

Pink Floyd - Meddle
NR

70s and their music i tell ya
(enter! the album that contains my former favorite song of all time yet remains to be the best thing i've ever heard from the Floyd's! echoes aside, this album remains to be the most welcoming and softest music i've ever had the pleasure of sitting through)

Fishmans - 空中キャンプ [Kūchū Camp]
NR

haven't been this laid back in a while, thank you Fishmans! (it really is the perfect laid back album)

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Slow Riot for New Zerø Kanada E.P.
NR

25$ well spent
(im not into the donald trump lexicon, yet this managed to pique my interest and have me invested throughout. oh and yeah sure... instrumentals are good... meh.. yeah...

kidding, they are INCREDIBLE! by no means a skip, absolutely not. the problem i have with this thing though? not long enough)

The Microphones - Mount Eerie
NR

thank you as always, Phil

Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
NR

...what? how draining can an album really be?

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
NR

see? substances weren't needed to make a timeless hypnotic album! .... right?
(absolute breathtaker o'er here! there's no material here that intends to give irritation, literally! even the lyrics are so simple to follow that you need not to squint your eyes to get the point! i mean.. if you aren't used to lovey dovey lyrics then it might irritate...

everything is very 60s - from the vocals to the instruments, and yet they are so amazingly utilized that they never fail to deliver pure beauty ... read more

"no words. whatever i felt was the first time i ever felt that (pure ecstasy i've never felt before. that world police rendition was the best wormhole i've ever fallen through; that screaming beside my headphones made everything real and tangible. shit... my eyes still hurt from how much they were twitching...)"

"just looked at the setlist... and oh my goodness i'm even more excited. i don't even know if i could survive 30 minutes of dead metheny... then ending it all with the dead flag blues outro and sad mafioso?! this might be another 'Godspeed You!' perfection... thank you so much again!! just hoping i'll get through this with my heart still beating..."
