Little Simz - Stillness in Wonderland
82

Fav tracks: Her, One in rotation, Doorways, Shotgun, Zone 3, No more wonderland

Little Simz - GREY Area
91

Relisten: 82 > 91

What an all around fantastic project. Remains consistent throughout its short run time and shows Simz' capability as an interesting rapper.

Fav tracks: Selfish, Wounds, Flowers, Sherbet sunset, Therapy, 101 fm, Pressure, Offence

Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert
87

Fav tracks: Woman, Two worlds apart, I love you i hate you, Little q pt 2, Standing ovation, I see you, Protect my energy, How did you get here, Miss understood

Little Simz - NO THANK YOU
87

Fav tracks: Angel, Silhouette, No merci, X, Heart on fire, Sideways, Who even cares

Ray Vaughn - The Good The Bad The Dollar Menu
85

Was pleasantly suprised with how good this album was. Coming off the battle with Joey, Vaughn delivers a really concise but solid mixtape that feels reminiscent of some of Vaughn's contemporaries, but at the same time seperates itself enough into its own identity. Eager to see where Ray goes from here because hes got a great career ahead of him if he stays at this quality.

Fav tracks: Flat shasta, 3pm at dairy, East chatt, Klown dance, Janky moral compass, Miles away from heaven

Little Simz - Lotus
85

A tad inconsistent but man theres some really beautiful cuts on this. I really gotta get into more Simz if this is one of her weaker albums cuz this is great

Fav: Only, Free, Hollow, Lion, Lotus, Lonely

Common - Resurrection
96

Such an underrated 90's classic. This is easily up there with Illmatic and some of Tribe and Pharcyde's albums in terms of quality. The only thing I can really knock this album for is how much better Resurrection is compared to the rest of the track list but that's more a testament to how phenomenal that song is.

Fav tracks: All of them except the interludes

KIDS SEE GHOSTS - KIDS SEE GHOSTS
90

Fav tracks: Reborn, Freee, Kids see ghosts, 4th dimension, Cudi montage, Fire

Freddie Gibbs - Freddie
64

Relisten rating: 52 > 64

Production on here is super boring and generic ngl. Freddie still delivers some good bars as always though but its not enough to raise this higher than just ok at best

Fav tracks: 2 legit, Triple threat

Big K.R.I.T. - 4eva N a Day
87

One of Krit's best

Fav tracks: Boobie miles, 1986, Temptation, Insomnia, Package store, Title track, Me and my old school, The alarm, Red eye

Big K.R.I.T. - K.R.I.T. Wuz Here
86

One of the best mixtapes Ive heard

Fav tracks: Glass house, Return of forever, Children of the world, They got us, No wheaties, Something, Neva go back, 2000 and beyond, Good enough, Country shit, As small as a giant

Big K.R.I.T. - Cadillactica
54

Quite underwhelming unfortunately comparatively to some of his other projects

Fav tracks: Life

Big K.R.I.T. - Live from the Underground
72

Fav tracks: Cool 2 be southern, Money on the floor, Porchlight

Big K.R.I.T. - Digital Roses Don't Die
61

not great, but theres a few smooth tracks on here

Fav tracks: Show u right, Rhode clean, All the time

Big K.R.I.T. - K.R.I.T. Iz Here
77

This is honestly a super underrated project. Its definitely not even close to the quality of 4eva is a mighty long time, which is probably why it gets so much flack, but there's still a lot of good tracks on here even though its also muddled with a bit of slop trap songs.

Fav tracks: Energy, Krit here, Make it easy, Mississippi, Learned from texas, Family matters

On Wither's review of J. Cole - The Fall-Off
"@PostWither I guess I can see how it may come off as lazy. I personally find it fine though given art inherently comes from places of personal experience and perspective anyway, but i understand how it may appear to be dull, especially in the case of Cole who, frankly, has a rather uninteresting writing style at times."
On Wither's review of J. Cole - The Fall-Off
"I'm genuinely curious as to why you think he's rapping about nothing here. I do find Cole's writing to be rather on the nose quite often, but I feel like he took a more mature approach on this album comparatively to much of his prior work. Also, why the negative perspective on him rapping about his own experiences? That's a common feature of a majority of so-called conscious hip hop, not like its something new, unless that in it of itself is the reason you dislike it. Great review nontheless though, even if I personally disagree."

On Phoenix_wrong's review of Ice Cube - Man Up
"@Ableist_abby honestly that explains my thoughts perfectly. West Coast hip hop artists, atleast the mainstream ones, were never able to really evolve their sound and it just leads to all their projects sounding so dull compared to other regions. Especially so considering how washed lyrically a lot of them are now, like with Cube here. Luckily there's some amazing underground or underapreciated west coast artists that still keep that side of the genre alive, atleast aside from some of the more modern big names like Kendrick or Tyler. In their cases though they've obviously completely evolved passed the typical west Coast sound."
