Lachispa - Hartita de Llorar

I think this is the best song from Benidorm Fest ever. Which isn't too hard, but still woohoo!

Tommy Cash - Espresso Macchiato

Shkodra Elektronike - Zjerm

Stunning mix of Albanian folk, electronics and orchestra that gave me full-on goosebumps. Literally a perfect Eurovision song, like this could get the first top 5 Albania result since 2012. Beyond excited.

Apocalyptic Junk - Building Nests

god damit I need to change all my end-of-year rankings cause this is so fucking phenomenal

Literally a perfect EP im speechless, its so noisy and beautiful and cathartic and personal and the guitar and drums and vocals are amazing like what how is it so good ur 16

'Hunger Makes Crows Dumb' has made it into my top 10 songs of all time. Woah.

Elvana Gjata - Karnaval

Almost as bad as the two songs that it directly sounds like, Slomo and Fuego. God, if this wins over Zjerm, or even anything tbh, I will be genuinely disappointed. Of course its the favourite...

Tepat - Sadzejot

Literally the best song we will get this season no doubt this is flawless it has 0% chance to win but that doesn't matter cause I'm going to listen to it all day. Never did I think we'd have an art-rock/neo-soul (the band describe themselves as neo-soul) BANGER in the Latvian national selection but I am HERE FOR ITTTT.

Incredibly fun and insanely groovy. This doom metal sound can sometimes be a bit dull and bland, but this album brings so much energy, fusing electronic elements and thrash/speed metal elements to the recipe. Although at some points still being a little formulaic and having slightly corny lyrics occasionally, it’s genuinely so fun, rhythmic, intense, chaotic, eerie, engaging and a little goofy.

Very confused by the 1 it currently has. Seriously does that person just not listen to any ... read more

A really fun, entertaining, energetic song that has a really refreshing sound in the larger scale of Eurovision. Although a little formulaic when it comes to songs in this specific genre, it's great to hear an electronic-infused rock song at Eurovision. It's a little repetitive in its current form and doesn't pop as much as it could. However, a revamp can really pull its strengths out, and I reckon with a successful one, this could qualify. It's incredibly catchy too, more ... read more

Luke De-Sciscio - Theo

Wow. This is stunning. Genuinely, truly stunning. This is one of the purest, rawest form of music I think you can listen to. A 50 minute eternal musical tribute to Luke's newborn child, that clearly describes the overwhelming emotions of the first few weeks after her birth. Mesmerising guitar arpeggios, vulnerable but fantastic vocals, wonderfully personal lyrics, amazing harmonies, perfectly bare orchestration, I could go on for days about the elements of this that not only just work so ... read more

A short, noisy, groovy, funky, crazy song that did feel a little repetitive and kinda lost me in the chaos on my first listen. However, it's really well-made and I still really enjoy the vocals, guitar and percussion of this single and the previous one. Maybe it doesn't reach the high of 'oh god not again' but it's a great single from an album that's looking to be an awesome, trippy banger of a time! :D

Tummy Boy - it's so beatable

I think this second collection of songs is much better, more fleshed out, less amateurish and more ambitious than Jacob Drawfee’s debut EP. ‘125%’ and ‘Internal Transfiguration’ are really great, and the drums and production have improved for sure! Also lmao butt on cover :0

m4y4h4n - School Homework

Pretty uncohesive but quite enjoyable. Awesome that this collab is giving Kron more deserved exposure too!

Phoxjaw - notverynicecream

It would be amazing if this somehow got more recognition after being the first album suggested on the ‘you may also like’ section of Monarch Of Monsters lmao. Literally one of the best albums ever. It’s super catchy, heavy, perfectly crafted, with outstanding songwriting and is a little bit goofy too. Give this a listen.

Edit: It's not on the 'you may also like' section of MoM anymore :(

Dvne - Etemen Ænka

SO BIG AND MASSIVE AND FULL AND WONDERFUL AND HEAVY AND GROOVY AND ATMOSPHERIC AND THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING

Baryak - Dva Srca

WOW! What a comeback for Montenegro this song could be!! Super unique (for Eurovision), some great, dramatic, powerful, emotionally effective instrumentation; it gives me a little bit of some awesome Sleep Token vibes. Definitely the best and most likely to qualify out of the selection. Sure, Nina and Durda have good songs too, but they are pretty generic ballads, Nina’s especially, and won’t stand out as much as this masterpiece. BARYAK TO EUROVISION.

KNOWER - KNOWER FOREVER

Holy funk this is the most creative, unique, engaging, grooviest jazz-ish album ever. I don't listen to a ton of music in this genre but wow this is truly fantastic. As a top 10 fan of syncopation, the rhythms and grooves and wonderful meshing of everything is just fantastic. The orchestral moments are stunning and 'Do Hot Girls Like Chords?' is one of my favourite songs. Also, my love of this album proves the question in that song correct ;)

yitaku - Pixie

I don't why but this silly little future bass song about self-confidence and acceptance makes me cry

Enzo Garcia - Oh god, not again

Damn this is great! It’s a shift in style than prior releases but a great shift. The groove is awesome, the vocals and atmosphere work perfectly with this genre and I always love dissonant noisy guitar. My only criticism is that the main bass riff is slightly out of time, which pulls me out of the song, but I wanted to ignore it so bad because of how great the actual track is! Really excited for an album in this style. I might give it a go too lmao. :D

ALESSANDRA - EUPHORIA

First off, this was nowhere near as bad as the reviews and comments so far have implied. One of the main criticisms is out of tune vocals and, sure they were a little bit, but I genuinely thought it was perfectly fine and even worked quite well in the first two songs. Also, the instrumentals in those first two tracks were solid, if a little repetitive. However, the timing and breathing issues were indeed present in 'Shadows'. The instrumentation was also the most derivative so far, ... read more

A wonderful selection of stunning guitar songs that, with the ambient noise ever-present, create a uniquely immersive atmosphere. Lots of it reminded me of The Last Of Us, which makes sense given the 'road trip across the America' background. It's pretty awesome how much variation in sound, atmosphere and emotion can be made with only a trusty ol' guitar. Beautiful album and the type of project that always appeals to me (someone who is currently making an album of short ... read more

"Being incapable of whimsey must be a bit of a sad life. Also, people don't just like artists like this because of technical ability, and the fact that is the only reasoning you can think of for people liking this band, is more of a problem than anyone else. Also, 'not having any actual songwriting'? Ok, ah, I understand now, you listened to a different album. Gotcha."
