Super cool debut album from the legendary actor, Youtuber, human being and now musician Cascina Caradonna (the face of Dina from TLOU 2)! I love the slightly eerie, but ethereal atmosphere and the space theme. Their super airy, reverby vocals work amazingly and I really enjoy the synthy instrumental. At many points it's danceable, but it'll suddenly become dreamy and almost reflective. I'm really excited to hear where Cascina goes from here and how they develop their music cause ... read more
Crazy how people my age are fucking singing this at school
Just finished a review of this for a school 'Black History Month Song Review' competition lmao. So I guess I'll post it here:
Humiliation Ritual by Kaonashi is not just a song. It is a cry for help. It is the desperate, panicked inside thoughts of someone not knowing what to do. It is the paranoia of someone, and the anxiety of whether it is coming true or not.
It is something that’s all too real for many, many people.
This song really is phenomenal. The brutal, ... read more
This is like the coolest sounding album I've heard in a while. Seriously.
A super unique album, especially for AOTY user albums, with awesome mixes of ambient, indie rock, psychedelia and more that produces a highly entertaining, interesting and well-made record. One of my favourite AOTY user albums for sure. Excited for more!
Oh. My. God.
That was so unbelievably fucking good.
Damn.
Listen to this immediately if you like unhinged, heavy, insanely entertaining, creative, catchy, groovy, funny, unique metal music.
Listen to it on Bandcamp if you want 7 interludes with Angela Sao from Xiu Xiu that don't really add anything or listen to a Spotify playlist with the non-interludes in correct order (such as mine: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/69bJYK4vwVkEDXW1IuzuUB) :D
Really atmospheric, intense, noisy, awesome music. It doesn't have tons of variety overall, which makes it a little same-y, but I still really enjoy this, and what it repeats is great anyway. A really unique AOTY user album for sure. Looking forward to more!
Oh! Ah! Eee! Ah! Ah! Ah! Eee! AAOAOHH!
Very decent ambient/electronic album with lovely atmosphere, some stunning moments and pretty interesting ideas overall. It felt a lot more unique and ambitious than the other underground ambient albums I've heard, with its actual melodies, instrumentation and structure. There were some occasional mixing issues but none that had any real effect on the music to where it bugged me or pulled me from the experience. Talking about the experience, the pacing was better than I expected from an ... read more
Pretty damn solid dark ambient track. Maybe a little same-y but the atmosphere was great and I feel sufficiently spookied.
Utterly stunning mix of folk, Midwest Emo and indie rock that, together with beautifully raw vocals, create an incredibly emotional, heartfelt EP that deserves a million times more attention than it’s getting.
Intense, beautiful, noisy, twinkly, joyful Midwest Emo that fulfils almost all that I want from an album of that genre. Nearly perfect. One of the best hidden gems of a band that I’ve ever had the pleasure of finding.
So this is like one of the best songs ever.
And it has 30 on this site, 45,000 streams and is by an artist with 4,000 listeners. Give this a fucking listen.
Edit: Kinda full review: This album is fantastic, incredibly atmospheric, melodic and brutal. The mix of death metal and ambient electronics is awesome, unique and complements the desired vibe so well. I thought it may drag on but it did the opposite, being paced very well. The opening track is one of my favourites of the year. I’m gonna check out their prior albums some time!
Holy moly this is a masterpiece ill review it soon I feel like my body has left and is floating in space and ... read more
edit: completely deleted my previous review because I somehow didn't catch on that the lyrics and themes were satirical and a character. Relistened again and this really is incredible. Does is still drag in some places, yes, but seriously this is marvel of modern music.
Heavy, eerie, groovy, massive, BENDY. These are all words that describe this awesome album.
Heavy cause guitar go chug chug and me likey. No but like the production (as expected from Mr Odeholm) is wonderful on this.
Eerie cause the synths, pads and overall ambience of this album is amazing. It sets and maintains the atmosphere and tone so well and elevates the experience.
Groovy cause these drums and thall guitar are thiccc. I was literally headbangin so much. Especially ‘Memory Of ... read more
I really like the main synth ostinato and the atmosphere is great. The drum programming is great too, and honestly, I enjoy the vocals a lot; they suit the style and the dip in volume near the end actually personally works well. Great job!!
