Looks like Slayyter has some competition!!!
Just kidding, music should be more collaborative than competitive. What I like most about this album is its consistency. Every song is great and worth listening to. There isn't one song that sticks out as being the bes tto me, but that transition from the intro to the second track was DIVINE.
I can never be disappointed by an Earl Sweatshirt album, and SURF GANG's trap beats were really good, but it's just a bit telling when Spotify autoplay gave me a song after Don't Worry and I was like "wow this is the best on the album" until I found out it was plz don't cut my wings.
Even with separating the art from the artist, this just didn't do it for me. Her edgy lyrics came off as performative for me, and you might say "well of course they're performative it's literally a performance" but I feel like a lot of it was purely for engagement. There were a few times where I was like "wait, this could actually be pretty good" but those were few and far between in what to me felt like a chore to listen through.
I was totally feeling it in the first half with some amazing features from Tame Impala, A$AP ROCKY, and the GOAT Mac Miller, but the last few tracks felt kind of tacked on and less musical, plus some... interesting lyrics. I get that was probably an attempt at humor but it just didn't land for me.
Kid Cudi please stop teasing me with Speeding Bullet 2 Heaven references I'm dying over here
My first time hearing a Yeat album, and I've never really wanted to go out of my way to listen to him, and after this, I can say for certain... that fact hasn't changed. It's not bad by any means, and if I'm being honest I was expecting a lot worse with something more along the lines of Nettspend (idk why) but some tracks were enjoyable. but most were pretty bland and went in one ear and out the other.
Yeah I mean this is just a good pop album, nothing more, nothing less. I hadn't heard of anything Robyn did post-Body Talk, but I'm glad she still holds up.
Finally my first concept album of 2026!
Didn't expect the album to have such a classical influence. She even sampled Vivaldi's Winter which was expected given the concept but still pretty cool. WHERE IS MY HUSBAND definitely stood out in terms of energy, but in retrospect it did have more orchestral instruments then the average pop song so I should have expected a more theatrical sound. Really cool that she got Hans Zimmer on here, and I thought the change in emotional state was ... read more
This is a genre first for me, and I have to say the slow metal style with a focus on the instrumental really piqued my interest. I'll have to look more into this band since they seem to be the main producers of it.
10/10 album name and cover btw
Definitely feel like I'm on the outside looking in on this one, but I can tell that heavensouls is truly talented and will always be trying new things.
We have Brat 2.0 but also it's completely different.
I like how the lyrics are satirical but sincere at the same time so there are different interpretations. Some of the beats were a bit too loud for me while I was driving but at a club/party would sound super punchy and energetic. Anyway her stage name is literally Slayyyter how could it not slay?
We love a woman who produces her own electronic album!!! No man is using her voice and chopping up she's doing it herself!
I really like McKinley Dixon as a rapper, and maybe it was because I was super stressed out driving in New Jersey traffic while listening to this, but it got a little too much for me at the end.
I was totally feeling the vibe until North West showed up. Childlike things didn't ruin the album it just felt a bit out of place. The album feels a little too out there for me at this point, so I expect it to grow on me upon a re-listen. I'm especially confident because a while back I heard just the title track and was not a fan, but now it's one of my favorites!
I can't find a single thing wrong with this album ðŸ˜
Seriously if you put a gun to my head and told me to pick the worst song on this record I think I'd die. It's so consistent too I don't think I could pick a favorite either. Pharrell cooked so hard with this oh my gawd the beats are nasty as hell and the rapping by Pusha T and Malice is so melodic and everything sounds SOO GOOD!
Also, obligatory THIS IS CULTURALLY INAPPROPRIATE
Pretty beautiful psychedelic tracks, and the run time didn't hurt it really at all. I guess I just wish they could have done more with the time they had.
I'm sorry this was just really boring for the most part. Only noteworthy parts were a couple of... interesting track titles and some good beats here and there.
