Full disclosure, I really enjoy this album, despite its corniness and often out of place rap verses, I don't mind it as much as you'd think I would. I feel like for most of the album the riffs are solid and the songs are written well enough. I understand why some may dislike this album, but personally I feel like this album is a fairly enjoyable listen. The majority of the album being high energy and audacious really helps the smaller moments, like the closer, feel more heartfelt.

Though not my favourite of his, this is probably the most complete record of his. There's no points where elements feel out of place, and it overall flows well. Songs don't drag on longer than they need to, and they're produced well enough. I've never been much of a folk/country person, but I can find some that I can appreciate. Overall, I dig this album and think that it has some really strong moments.

This is one of a few albums that I will straight up call boring. There's nothing much that makes it stand out. There's a few points of really solid and heartfelt writing, but many of the songs don't go anywhere. This is unbelievable considering the album it was following up being such a solid entry K.Flay's discography. Even when this album dropped in 2019 I didn't give it much care. It's pop-sellout material that fell flat. The one thing I feel like one can expect from K.Flay is some level of ... read more
Favourite Worst Nightmare has shrunk on me immensely since I've heard it. I think it has some good songs, but many fall flat and poorly replicate what was done on "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not", except spooky sounding. I think there are points where it's decent, like the opener "Brianstorm" and "This House Is a Circus" but many of the songs often revered on the album are not special by any means. Still, though, it's a decent listening experience. ... read more
Cage The Elephant's Self Titled debut is a solid garage rock album. It doesn't do anything special, but it isn't boring and devoid of energy. Writing isn't anything special, but nothing awful. It's something to put on to rock out to when you need something to keep you going. Overall a fun album, but nothing extraordinary.

AM! One of the most recognizable albums in the indie scene! It's...okay? I mean I cannot deny that this album kills when playing through a stereo system, but that's not enough to get me to ignore it's flaws. There are some real stinkers on this one. The production is extremely streamlined, which, while it sounds good here, it gets grating after a while. I think that Alex Turner's voice does not work while isolated on this album. While it's part of a chorus, it's great and it really brings out ... read more
Every Where is Some Where is a strange album. It lures the listener into thinking its one thing and it slaps them in the face at every other turn. The flow can be a little all over the place, but ultimately the songs are all solid by themselves. This is easily my favourite K.Flay project, from the production, to the proper mix of songs, and the overall staying power of the album. While I understand that some may not enjoy K.Flay's vocal performances, I don't mind them here. Overall, there are ... read more
It's alright. Is it as bad as some make it out to be? Not exactly. It is the classic that fans claim it is? No. Ultimately, it's an alright piano-pop album with some emo themes. Vocal performances, while sometimes wince worthy, are not completely unbearable. The songs all sound decent, but the production is not great. The writing normally stands out on this album, whether it be for how it represents the themes of the record or for the way it weaves a narrative. Overall, if you're an emo ... read more
Melophobia is Cage The Elephant's peak. It's fun and energetic while also feeling tied together. It fits the band's earlier more unhinged, garage rock sound, while also feeling refined and kept together like the albums that would follow. It's overall an extremely enjoyable experience and some of the best alternative rock of the 2010s.

This album has shrunk on me throughout the years. I still enjoy it, but man it kinda drags a bit in the middle. I'll still say that it is a definite improvement over Loner. It has some club bangers, but also deeper songs with some actual meaning. I feel like production is a mixed bag. There's some extremely well produced tracks, but at the same time there are some really odd and strangely produced tracks. This album shows MISSIO's overall potential and how they can make some great ... read more
Content is a clear upgrade from "How Do You Feel Now?" Where "How Do You Feel Now?" felt fairly basic, Content reaches out to try something a little now. Again, while Content is nothing completely special, it feels a lot more unique from its predecessor. The writing on this album truly stands out, as the wordplay on songs like "Content" build a theme around the album. The album has an overall darker and colder aesthetic, which helps with the overall vibe. Overall, ... read more
How Do You Feel Now would probably be a legendary/classic album had it been released five years earlier. There's nothing truly new or fantastic about it, but at the same time there's nothing wrong with it. Joywave's label debut has some really fun indie pop songs, and the album is overall fairly well written. There's a few points where it feels pretty weak, but nothing unlistenable. Do I think that this is a bad album, not by any means, but is it the greatest of all time? Most definitely not. I ... read more
In 2019, I really adored this album. It was fun and wild. Three years later, after it's 5 anniversary, I can say that it has not aged well. Much of the album relies on pop tropes of the time, and a lot of the songs feel very self-indulgent. There's some party bangers on the album, but not much in the way of deeper songs. If you're expecting an album of Middle Fingers and Everybody Gets High, you'll probably be pleased, but if you want an album of Bottom of the Deep Blue Sea, you may want to ... read more
Gone Now will always be superior to Strange Desire, and I will not be hearing anyone out. The production on this album is much more unique and stylized. The songs are insanely infectious and memorable. The performances are great. Overall, the album is a solid listen. The overall story of the album is easy to follow and the album has some insane single power. This album is timeless and I believe one of the best of 2017.

Torches is nothing special. It's a solid album, but there's nothing that makes it truly stand out. I enjoy the album, it's a very fun and easy listen, but there's nothing truly outstanding. I think if you need a simple album to put on to dance to and have some fun, this is a perfect release, but if you're looking for something deeper, you won't find it here.

This album is truly special. Evil Friends is peak indie rock from the early 2010's. The production is typically pretty solid on the album, and it's overall an extremely enjoyable listening experience. I love the reprise of Plastic Soldiers on Smile, I love the flow of the album, and I really dig the overall vibe of the album. It doesn't feel like Portugal. The Man's previous works, but also doesn't feel like Woodstock. It feels unique within the discography. Overall, and extremely enjoyable ... read more
Fight With Tools is an extremely interesting album. It almost feels like a classic, but from what I'm aware, has more of a cult following. This album has some extremely catchy and enjoyable songs, which at the time were pretty unique. The production is nothing special, but the songs are still fun and bouncy. The writing is really the standout on this album, but other than that, it's just a simple conscious rap-rock album.

Trench is one of my favourite albums of all time. It's one of the few albums I would say is perfect and is easily my favourite album of 2018. The production on this album kicks ass, the writing is top-notch, and it's an extremely enjoyable listen. While there's points where pacing is a little off, I can look over those because there's never a point where the album falls apart. The album does not feel like it lasts over 56 minutes, because it is so easy to get lost into the world that Twenty One ... read more
If you asked me two or three years ago, I would tell you that this album was the worst thing I've ever heard and I would go on an entire tangent about why I hated it. Over the last year, though, I found a bit of a new appreciation for it. I enjoy it because it's a simple summer vibes album that feels more downbeat than other albums with a summertime aesthetic. I still think it's overall a very bland project, with not much to offer the average Gorillaz fan. I still think it's meant to be a safe ... read more
My god this album is impeccable. It has some damn good production for a debut album. It's lush and detailed, much like the art that accompanies it. This album genuinely feels and sounds like a jungle. The flourishes of this album are amazing, and no songs feel more important than another. My only gripe with the album is that it is so front-loaded. Other than that it is an incredibly enjoyable experience and an overall blast to listen to.
