Hole - Live Through This

This album is very difficult for me to rate. There are many songs I don’t really care about, but it’s one of those records in which the ugliness contributes to the beauty of it.

This album sounds so cool that I really would like to rate it higher. But it is a lengthy one, and I’m not sure how it’s supposed to justify its length.
A lot of songs are similar to each other, too slow, or simply not to my taste, while many others are interesting but not enough to keep me from switching the music midway through the record.

The Mountain is undeniably an interesting record, and I think the mere fact that it's so intriguing leads to far too many positive reviews, causing people to end up overrating it a bit.

I actually enjoy the first half of the record; I loved the intro and the weird twists that give way to more standard, yet very catchy songs like The Happy Dictator. However, the second half starts to feel like it drags a little too much, with songs I genuinely didn't like (I must admit that rap just ... read more
