Shoutout to AOTY user @Malneezy for promoting their newest album, check out their great reviews and definitely give this project a listen :)
'Wonky Odd Rhythms & Spastic Tunes' is quite obviously what the title describes, which is a collection of experimental and electronic tracks. I Can't Dance To This!? and The Might Be Electronic? were the two standouts that I can recall, but there really isn't a dull moment across this track list. Everything about this feels uniquely fresh, creative, ... read more
'Endless Summer Vacation' is an incredibly mixed bag.
While there's no songs I'll be coming back to from this album, I do think that there are a few alright chorus and overall decent pop tracks. Flowers took the charts by storm over the last two months, and has a memorable chorus with a message that, while pretty safe, is sure to be relatable and empowering for many. Violet Chemistry and Wildcard were also decent standouts, though mainly on account of them not being blatantly bad.

Whew... this album is like pure euphoria. Jeff Buckley's debut, and tragically his only album 'Grace', gives me such a rush of endorphins. It's not a stretch to say that Jeff Buckley is one of the most talented artists this world has ever seen, and it's terrible that he never had the chance to share his gift with more people.
'You Won't Get What You Want' was the long awaited return from rock band Daughters in 2018, and remains their only album since their reformation in 2013.
YWGWYW is quite the brutal and abrasive listen, a complete burial into heavy noise rock, if you will. There's plenty of pummeling moments, yet doesn't lack the occasional earworm melody. The bassline on the song Less Sex was a major highlight; so simple yet so appealing. The latter half in general spoke to me even more, so this is a record I ... read more
'Carrie & Lowell' pulls off an incredible feat by managing to overwhelm your senses while managing to remain incredibly light and minimalistic.
The eighth studio album from acclaimed singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens is likely his most personal to this date. Much of the lyrical content is related to the death of his mother Carrie in 2012 and her relationship with her second husband Lowell, who helped Sufjan create his music label Asthmatic Kitty.
Stevens uses this album as his way of ... read more
We really making it out the hood with this one πΊπΈ
Edit: Spotify credits Donald Trump with the writing, basically saying Trump wrote the National Anthem. Inspiring.
@ozymvndias, you really have put together something amazing here.
'ICHTHYOSIS' is the fourth LP from fellow AOTY user ozymvndias. They released an EP earlier this year that I seriously loved, and will likely end up ranking highly in my favorite EP's of the year. The weighted atmosphere that that EP did so well to create is only improved on the full LP. 'ICHTHYOSIS' is a harrowing and heavy descent into darkness. The deep dark droning feels disorienting and chilling, and are then tastefully ... read more
One Sentence Wrap-Up:
The same old Macklemore is back with ‘BEN’, continuing with awfully safe and brutally radio friendly pop rap... I can't wait for it to be Grammy nominated.
One Sentence Wrap-Up:
Maybe it will take more time, but while I respect the unsettling atmosphere and the haunting industrial sounds, Xiu Xiu's 'Ignore Grief' isn't exactly striking a chord with me.
One Sentence Wrap-Up:
Kali Uchis' third studio LP 'Red Moon In Venus' is a sensual exploration of love in all of its forms, and the effects and consequences that come with it.
One Sentence Wrap-Up:
The eighth studio album from the virtual internet act Gorillaz is lacking in terms of their career peaks and perhaps does not push the genre boundaries they once did, but is still a positive addition to their catalog.
Rating: 96
I'll be damned if Turbines isn't the most beautiful song I've ever heard. My jaw was on the floor for this whole video.
I need the album, thank you very much.
Where Friday's 'Quest for Fire' was a faithful return to the headbanging and infinitely danceable dubstep of the early 2010's, Saturday's 'Don't Get Too Close' is a bland and uninspired trap album. I'm not impressed, and it's a shame that the great story of "Skrillex's 2023 return" has to be hampered by this now.
Shoutout to @RemisReviews for making this track and sending it to me. Be sure to check them out!
Card Game is an enjoyable electronic DnB track that mainlly follows the progression of this same, jumpy melody throughout the run time. It's well made, but certainly a little too long for its own good. There's not a whole lot of variety, so the 6 minute run time is a bit too much.
Thank you for sending this to me! Please keep me posted with any more music you're putting out :)
One Sentence Wrap-Up:
The first Skrillex album since 2014's 'Recess', 'Quest for Fire' is an incredibly well-textured and well-produced EDM project that meets all expectations as a future nightclub staple.
'Lift Your Skinny Fists' is one of cinimatic and ambitious musical projects I have ever heard. The seamless progression of each track tells such a vivid story in my head, I feel like I'm living a dream.
This project from Yung Lean is really not all that bad, I suppose. Yung Lean may not have the most beautiful voice, but I think his style and production brings a quaint and nostalgic feel. He's making the music he enjoys, and that energy translates decently into this album.
What an absolute shame that my introduction to Muse was their 2022 flop 'Will of the People'. 'Origin of Symmetry' is a stunning piece of art rock. I'm blown away!
