while this certainly isnt the best folk punk album I've heard so far, talon of the hawk is still a more-than-solid release with some very emotional cuts. mama mia!
EDIT: "sounds like counting crows" - my mom

AJJ once again blow me the fuck away. I really enjoyed their 2011 album, "Knife Man", but this is on another fucking level. This is exactly the kind of raw shit I expect from a genre called "folk punk". Like on Knife Man, I love the quirky (uwu) lyrics to death, but I like the instrumentation and overall songwriting on here a lot more. This is the stuff I hope to make someday honestly. I will for sure be coming back to this one many many times very very soon. Mwah, chef's ... read more

EDIT: this album is like if beastie boys were incels and never stopped using myspace
EDIT2: this album is for people that watched filthy frank without realizing it was a satire on people like them
EDIT3: this album is like if super mario logan remixed a shitty gecs track
EDIT4: this album's cover looks like tim burton pissed on a gorillaz music video
This one is surprising as the band's name has been an inside joke between me and some friends for a while now lmfao.
Loud, goofy, danceable, a little generic, and a bit jazzy. Remember to take your Viagra, Boys, because this energetic sophomore LP isn't for the limp-dicked.
Least Fav Tracks: In Spite of Ourselves, Creatures
Fav Tracks: Secret Canine Agent, I Feel Alive, Girls & Boys, 6 Shooter, Ain't Nice
Though it's a bit underwhelming when compared to his more recent releases such as Honeybear and Pure Comedy, Misty's debut provides its listener with jams, ballads, and plenty of nihilism. And really, that's all you need for a FJM record. Also I really want the album cover as a poster.
Least Fav Tracks: Well, You Can Do It Without Me , Only Son of the Ladiesman
Fav Tracks: Nancy From Now on , I'm Writing a Novel , This Is Sally Hatchet , Everyman Needs a Companion
Littered with some really creative ideas throughout and only weakened by a few briefly underwhelming vocal performances, Life News is an exceptionally strong debut LP that's shaping up to be one of my favorite indie rock records to come out of Japan.
