it's so hard to hate anything on this compilation honestly. the weeknd has always been a master of balancing atmospheric production with catchy hooks, and an album of some of the best examples of that? very cool
200th review baby lets fucking goooooooo
After months of letting bands like 100 gecs and Death Grips grow on me, I decided to finally return to this album. Initially, when I listened to it in early 2020, I was very turned off by the abrasive production of the first track, pink diamond, but now that I'm into this shit? I absolutely love this. It really does retain that feeling of very early quarantine and sudden isolation. The loud and often harsh beats draw you in and really accentuate Charli's ... read more
daywalker is such a lame title. also the song is ass. beat is ear-piercing, mgk sounds horrible, corpse is corpse, and the lyrics are edgy in the worst kind of way. please hang up the studio headphones, both of you.
2/10
you know youre getting older when two of this band's members have started balding
Anyways Follow You is actually pretty alright, Dan's vocals and melodies remind me a lot of Julian Casablancas honestly and obviously I'm gonna like that a lot. The production is also okay but it does have that same old Imagine Dragons feel to it which really drags it down, but not to the point that it's a bad song.
But Cutthroat? Holy shit this is such a jarring song to listen to after Follow You. This sounds ... read more
This being my first introduction to black metal, I really wasn't sure what to expect. Before going into H.AQ.Q., I'd only ever listened to classic metal bands like Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin. Thankfully, I already knew I would love this album just based on the first track alone. It's harsh and fast-paced, though there are some more quiet moments using instruments such as piano and bells like on the EXACO trilogy and the intro to GOD OF LOVE, yet extremely structured and well thought-out. Just go look at my review of Welfare Jazz, honestly. This album is just that album but a little less good. Still enjoyable though!

Funky fresh and catchy as hell, Jessie Ware's 2020 album is...a bit overrated to be honest. It's still really good, but I think I was a tad spoiled by the hype surrounding this one before I listened (it has room to grow on me though for sure). Aside from that, though, this shit slaps! All of the production choices and vocal harmonies are great and sometimes really resonate with me. Disco has never been an interest of mine, but I think that this album just changed that. Zoo-wee-mama!

Alright, I'll admit I'm a little late to the party on this one, but Windswept Adan is undoubtedly one of the most, if not THE most, calming and peaceful records I've ever heard. Maybe it's just because I don't usually listen to albums like this, but wow this is breathtaking. Usually I zone out at least a little bit when listening to this kind of peaceful music, but, impressively, Ichiko Aoba managed to hold my attention the entire time somehow. Hot dog!

Previous to listening to this album I'd already heard the majority of its tracks from The Misfits Box Set, so there weren't any surprises here, but this album is still incredibly infectious, energetic, and fun, especially if you're into that spooky shit. Judging from the tracklists of their other '80s albums, this is probably the weakest, but I think that's a testament to the raw power and creativity that Misfits had from the very beginning. So yeah, if you like punk rock and horror movies, ... read more
did they really have to do that line about "chiners being kinda finer than a woman tiger"? the song abt ghandi was weird too,, :/
i thought the memes were just memes but no i have a friend who loves this album and he wears polos and khakis all the time
packed to the brim with jams (ahahahahahahhahah), this record certainly knows how to get me through a class period. the only thing it needs is some toast! bazinga!

least fav tracks: none of them honestly
a couple weeks ago i walked in on my dad watching fox news and tom macdonald was being interviewed. it was unironically one of the worst experiences of my life
