while being a bit more melodic than their previous works, this still keeps the insane energy of the band, as well as connie's sassy personality on the vocals. i also like the worldbuilding here, as some parts definitely feel quite theatrical, and they add to the overall experience. the guest vocalists also give really good performances, the highlight being courtney laplante on to the dance floor for shelter. seeyouspacecowboy... have proven themselves to be one of my favorite metal bands ... read more
this has to be one of the most embarrassingly written albums i've heard. almost half the album is interludes, and they feel like filler. the production feels barely there, and jax is a really unmemorable singer. however, the lyrics of this album are terrible, and make tortured poets department look like a shakespearean play. from hawk tuah (which is listed as jacob's bathwater on aoty) telling you to stream the album or jax will have to resort to feet pics, to zombieland's chorus ... read more
this album is one that just... exists. the cover art looks like it took a minute to make in photoshop, and the music feels very generic, both production & lyricwise. it's at least passable in every aspect, there's nothing really *bad* per se, but at the end of the day, this just simply isn't that memorable at all
despite some... *interesting* lyrics & a short runtime for 19 tracks, the band manages to go extremely hard throughout the tracklist with pretty much 0 breaks inbetween. may not be good for a casual listening, but if you need anything to help hype you up, you can't go wrong with this
less is sometimes more, and that can't be more perfectly summed up by this song. on the surface, it's nothing more than a simplistic melody repeating throughout a 10 minute runtime. however, that melody is also one of the most blissful things you'll ever hear, and is really captivating, no matter how many times you hear it. it's a very effective tune that makes it's seemingly long runtime zip by
the band here gives off so much energy, and every track has so much going on from the guitars & drumming, yet still feels coherent & fun to listen to. the vocals also remind me of converge's lead vocalist, which is a hit-or-miss style, but i actually quite like them. overall, a very good album & by far my aoty, where even the stuff i didn't like as much is still pretty good stuff at worst
despite not being a fan of taylor's music, i still tried to give this album a chance. unfortunately, yeah this album kinda met my expectations. it's produced & sung decently enough, but my score is lowered due to the lyrics. throughout this & the anthology version, we get classic lines such as 'your wife waters flowers, i want to kill her', 'i think some things i shouldn't say, like "who uses typewriters anyway?"', 'no-fucking-body', 'we declared charlie puth should be a ... read more
although nothing really groundbreaking, it does it's job of being a catchy little record. i've always liked dua lipa's voice, and i really dig the production on this album, along with lyrics that feel rather mature for the genre. yeah, this album was actually good, and i am pleasantly surprised by it
basically the original but it lasts longer & feels even more embarrassing. it gets to a point where i'm surprised an actual major label signed off on this (such as songs like whale cock). despite not even reaching 25 minutes, it still feels extremely long & overstays its welcome
essentially just 17 minutes of 2010s-like electropop where the only gimmick is how sexualized it is. it feels incredibly one-note & repetitive, and the lyrics get pretty embarrassing at points. it may be short, but it still manages to overstay its welcome
i had no clue what to expect from this going in, but holy shit, this ep is a slapper. combining metal & electronic elements really works here, and it has a ton of energy to match. not bad for a band i've never heard of until now
infekt's style has been kinda getting stale for me a bit, and this ep kinda feels like he's going through the motions. there's a couple of experiments thrown in, but overall i found myself just not really vibing with this
while not my favorite metal album ever, combining rap & metal somehow works here
all the songs here are good, the theming & samples are on point, and the production is solid throughout... but it's not exactly an aoty contender for me. it is an extremely consistent listen tho
same with will, this album is just pleasant to listen to, and in a car ride, it feels perfect to drift off to
julianna barwick has a very pretty voice, and when you pair that with some good ambient production, you get an album that's pleasant to listen to throughout its 38-minute runtime
the vocals can be a little ehh at points, but i still enjoyed my time with this project
