MAY GOD BLESS YOUR HUSTLE, 2?
Good, consistent, but I hope he doesn't fall into the trap of releasing more of the same. MIKE still needs to craft a unique enough personality and presence in his music, one that sticks out instead of playing the wallflower like he does here sometimes. To be honest some tracks are forgettable in the beginning, but the best and some of his best EVER and remind me why I liked him in the first place.

Earl has a son?
Singular, hypnotic, gritty, punchy, so many words come to mind to describe this amalgam of oddities. It's some of the more unique music to come out of NY this decade. The lo-fi sound does get old after a bit, and I find myself hungering for something a little more fleshed out production wise sometimes. However, it's not any weaker or a project for it, and I can't wait to see him get the recognition he deserves.

SAY HIS NAME AND WATCH HIM GRADUALLY APPEAR
The familial, etherial vibes on here are transcendent, and perfectly flesh out the musings of a man who's pulling from everything, his experiences, his family, and his city, to figure out who he is. Glad to here more from this dude.
fave tracks: Time Ain't Enough, Comfort A Joke, Like Mask
DISINTEGRATION 2: Love Wins Edition
How can you rate true love? It’s beautiful, effervescent and downright ESSENTIAL. Mike’s voice is gorgeous and elevated. The production lives in a kaleidoscope from another dimension where sound and emotion have coalesced into the purest form of music.
And WREATH IS A HECKING BOP.

Glad that the greats are applying new energy into their sound after their last two albums being indiscernible from each other.
fave tracks: DIVE is one of the best songs of the year period.
The lovers cuddling by the river looking up at the stars album of all time.
The stars they're looking at, for the sake of this metaphor, is the epic BLOOM.
fave tracks: Zebra, Lover of Mine, Silver Soul, Take Care, Walk In The Park, 10 Mile Stereo
I agree with nemgax. There's not much else to say. If you don't like this YOU HATE LOVE!
songs I'll play at my wedding: Myth, Wild, Wishes, On The Sea for the departure to the honeymoon
This album reminds me of my ex girlfriend!
Hilariously sassy and rude, fun as hell, pretty top heavy, but solid all around!
The only difference is that this album only manipulated me into dancing my butt off! I'm not bitter!
fave tracks: Try Your Luck, Boyfriend, Don't You Know I'm In A Band, Catch My Breath

Kanye's production is now 5/5.
And I feel like Teyana excels on soulful melodies more than the trap bangers in general. It's a beautiful album, filled with fun summer vibes, sexy energy and super solid songs all around. Really reminds me of the early works of Alicia Keys/Janet Jackson and legendary older groups like The Stylistics at the same time. The lyrics can be a little basic at times, but don't let that stop you from enjoying this. I don't think prudes should judge it ... read more
I LOVE THIS, JESUS CHRIST
Its so overrated and overhyped, but it's supremely beautiful and odd, with dark lyrics that make you marvel in the gorgeousness of life. It's so pretentiously good, I can only say equally pretentious things about it. Go listen.

Part of me feels like this should've been released together with ye. Like Ye's strengths here (iconic songs, and topics) are KIDS weakness', but Ye's weaker mastering and polish and energy are totally gone here, where these songs have a great flow and more unique production. Even the name of the group references the psychedelic and world bending tunes we hear here, so I feel like the overall profile is just stronger. Even though Yikes and Violent ... read more
i feel like he boosted the mastering on the production on this after the release. I mean heck he added lyrics to the first track. Anyway, this album grew on me alot and now I can only show my face to you anonymous folks...

THERE'S LIFESTYLES (and bars) FOREVER WHEN YOU'RE MADE
Pusha raps to a T here. Dude sons rappers for just existing by releasing this project. It's honestly a refreshing reminder that lyricism really is important and a lovely thing in quality rap records. Like most rap records of the year are going to have great themes, or beats, or sounds, but how many can you honestly say have bars like we see here?
fave tracks: all of them, especially The Games We Play & What Would Meek Do?

Not to compare to Illmatic, but just in general Nas has sounded way more enthusiastic and energized on most other records for him. Kanye's production is once again 4/4, but Nas doesn't do the best job of ringleading it all together despite interesting topics and songs like Everything and Cops Shot The Kid. Where's the ooomph?
