QYURRYUS SHOULVE BEEN LONGER
I don’t really like alot of the Strokes’ music, because I feel like a lot of their music is unintentional and repetitive. Not a problem here. I feel like Casablancas voice finally has a perfect foil in the music.
fave songs: QYURRYUS, Wink, Alienation, My Friend The Walls, All Words Are Made Up, Leave It in My Dreams
GLORY BE TO GOD WHATS HATTNIN PIMPS
I wish more of the songs were like 20 Karat Jesus. But once again with Freddie, the highs are so high they help the project out. Still there could be a little more depth on some of the lows.
fave tracks: 20 Karat Jesus, Alexys, Crushed Glass
This isn’t your average darkness.
THIS IS ADVANCED DARKNESS.
Lackluster and monotonous at some parts but others Freddie has a beast like energy that can’t be ignored.
Also Extradite is one of his top 5 songs period.
fave tracks: EXTRADITE, Rearview, Fudgin Up The Count, Packages, Insecurities, Cold Arse Nickel
THE TELENOVELA OF GANGTSA RAP AYE PAPI
I even like the beats more that Madvillainy sometimes. But Freddie Gibbs steals the show and paints a tearfully beautiful and cinematic portrait of what’s easily the most stereotyped portrait of rap music on this elegant, enduring and deeply human tag team. Immaculate.
Fave tracks: piñata, robes, thuggin, deeper, knicks
FREDDY CORLEONE HERE TO MAKE THE STREETS DIP AND YOUR SHEETS DRIP
fun, menacing and to the point, but real Gibbs fans know he’s done greater things.
fave tracks: Automatic, Triple Threat, Set Set, Diamonds 2
I feel like this was a promising debut, but I agree it was a bit underwhelming at parts. Some of the beats felt directionless, and one of the more ethereal tracks had me feeling the same way. But I feel like those are two sides of the same coin for SOPHIE. Like Ponyboy for example, starts off lackluster but then really comes together in the end. Her earlier stuff was good but not as focused as the highlights here. In fact the best tracks are so strong it’s a win all around. Can’t ... read more
BEYONCÉ ACHIEVES HER FINAL FORM
#ultrainstinctbeyonce
To think that Beyoncé would make an album that doesn’t pander to commercial viability is one of the decade’s greatest moments. The production and detail in so layered and innovate for Beyoncé that she’s album to effectively make a greatest hits of styles album in the phenomenal Beyoncé. Honestly this is the best sexytime music you might ever hear. But then the immaculate Blue closer reminds you ... read more
MAKE THAT WOOD HOLLY LIKE A BOULEVARD
all jokes aside, this is one of the strongest concept albums of the decade from the most unlikely source. It’s beautiful, pained, fiery, genre bending, optimistic and the ultimate connotation of all of Bey’s beats, raps, harmonies and talents. Coupled with the HBO special that gives aweinvoking cinematic context to every moment, this is arguably the greatest pop record of the decade.
This album confirms Beyoncé is one of the greatest artists of all time, her rapping is fluid and genre crossing and her melodies are awesome too, but everything else is just a little lackluster. Tightly made but doesn’t have the extra oomph Lemonade or 4:44 have. Hopefully the romance is real, cause the fairytale aspects boost the project too. All around it’s a fun momentary project.
Best tracks: Love Happy, Black Effect, Apepoops; Boss, Summer
VIOLENCE IS DAILY LIFE
The perfect 2018 album. It's so true to the times, yet it still strives for that small glimmer of tenderness we all hope will come through in the end. Also, bar jocks having existential philosophical crisis' are always fun.
fave tracks: Total Football, Wide Awake!, Before The Water Gets Too Hot, Freebird II, VIOLENCE,
Will Most Certainly Start A Fight If You Think My Score Is Bogus
WHITE BOY BETTER PUT HIS HANDS UP
Dark, hilarious, offputting, eccentric and intensely interesting.
Bound to cause the whole family to curb stop to the beat.
Current rap record of the year.
fave tracks: 1539 N. Calvert, baby im bleeding, 1488, whole foods, macaulay culkin,
Real NEGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGA
If you don't like you're fake! Not everything has to have technical whimsy and eccentric outlandish production! These are great songs all around. And A Day In The Life is one of the best closers ever.
fave tracks: sgt. peppers lonely hearts club band, she's leaving home, with a little help from my friends, lovely rita, lucy in the sky GETTIN BANDS
purposeful and poignant, this is arcade fire's most ambitious album, from the Haitian music influences, the dark subject matter, and awesome James Murphy production, it's a sonic head trip for the incognito end times. loved it from start to finish.
fave tracks: reflektor, here comes the nightime, afterlife, porno, awful sound
your wcw thinks this is deep. she's right.
fave tracks: intervention, windowsill, no cars go, my body is a cage, ocean of noise
its more than meets the eye
fave tracks: perfect day, walk on the wild side, satellite of love, wagon wheel, andy's chest
has there every been an album as unfortunately timeless as this one?
fave tracks: what's goin on, mercy mercy me, inner city blues, save the children, WHATS HATTNIN BROTHA!?!?
a monolith of an achievement, made infinitely more powerful when you realize Will made this 7 years ago with none of his fame, skills, or resources, and struggled with demons he no longer deals with because of the life this album gives him. sonically and technically you could say it's around a 90 but what are albums without the emotions we feel with them?
fave tracks: beach life in death, famous prophets (stars), sober to death, cute thing, twin fantasy (deez nuts)
if your babysitter did ecstasy with caillou
fave tracks: fight test, in the morning of the magicians, ego tripping at the gates of hell, are you a hypnotist?, DOES YOU REAL EYES?!?!??!?!?
DARKNESS IMPRISONING ME ALL THAT I SEE ABSOLUTE HAWRAW
fave tracks: one, blackened, eye of the beholder, the shortest straw, ...and justice for all
